Raid on St. Nazaire

St Nazaire just shows how brave our Commandos were, the Germans even commented on how brave they were that night. One story really amazed about one man who was manning a gun on one of the small wooden boats, it came up against a German destroyer and he kept firing on the Germans even after being shot something like 17 times, he only stopped after he passed out from blood loss. The German captain said that he deserved a VC, and he was, unfortunately it was posthumously.

We actually did take part, the ramming Destroyer was an American one sent to Britain via the Destroyers for Bases deal.

@Talbot6832 what did u expected? americans did it and remember that before US enters the war they send to UK pilots, soldiers and supplys for "support" and i think americans didnt entered in war with Germany cuz they were doing bussiness with Hitler i think.

the jeremy clarkson documentary about this raid was so brilliant, i've watched it 3 times now and clarkson describes the events so well and he hooks you into the story, he has so much passion for history and proper respect for the commandos who went in

Dont get me wrong its a good game, but this raid needs to be made again but the game must be historically more acurate and with a better map.

Its a bit of a cheek putting an American in with the St Nazaire raiders, but I dont mind, its a raid that I still havent seen beaten for the audacity and bravery of its intent and success of its outcome, and so its worth popularising in a video game I wonder if theire will be decent movie made of it one day because, even though war is nasty and horribel, this really was the most brilliant and honourable action of any war.

the game was fun,had a good story, even though it didnt follow St. Nazair very well. I dont think that the commando's used Garands. all I read was that they used Thompsons,Brens, and a few heavy weapons.

while the raid objectives were accomplished. I suppose that one could argue that hundreds dead and captured might have been too high a cost for the raid. but nevertheless an amazing raid.

Only 168 were Killed out 611 Commando's. 400 Germans were killed in the whole operation. St Nazaire was one of the most heavily defended and valuable German facilities of the war. Next to it was a lage U-Boat pen, both protected by heavy coastal artillery, 80 AA batteries and 5000 Germans were in the town let alone the number in the Harbour and pens its-self. The Harbour wasnt repaired until 1947.
