i was at that show, it was my 3rd one that year. I get teary eyed every time I see videos of the shows. I just can't belive that i was 2 years ago already. I wish they would hurry up and go on tour again. U2 rocks.\
I was also lucky enough to be pulled up that night, i am the guy who hops up there right after the first girl, i have a black shirt and beige cap on. Bono actually came to me first and had to point at me 3 times because i was stunned and didnt realize he was telling me to come up. Not until John told me i had better get my ass up there. I assure you that in NO WAY was this fixed or predetermined. This was completely random and i am gratefully lucky it was me.
I am the guy that he pulls on stage first i had the Irish flag in front of me and when you watch the video you can see him come back to me I actually looked at him and asked him 3 times if he was sure he wanted me up there!! Eventually "John" told me to go. So up i went i am the guy with the black Shirt and beige conductors cap and i can assure you and everyone who thinks this was set up that indeed it WAS NOT set up it was completely random and i was as much in shock as anyone.
I didnt say i was holding the Irish flag "on stage" i said i was holding the rish flag "along the rail in the front row".. And actually the Red White and Blue Flag is the Flag of France..
still, the irish flag along the rail was way down the other end near edge, so no where near where you were standing. I think thats the Italian flag you mean maybe (the one the girl has?).
The Irish guy is near the middle on stage - the flag that has the writing on it.
And its the Netherlands. He's a good friend of mine and he's Dutch so believe me, he won't be holding a French flag any time soon! lol

We weren't One campagners either wrighty1970. We're a bunch of friends who met at u2 gigs and who came from all over the world to be at this one concert, so we decided beforehand to all bring flags of where we're from and pull them out during the concert.
What happened after that had nothing to do with us and wasn't fake, staged or plannned in anyway.

This was a ONE of a kind experience! The Boston Flagship is eternally grateful for everything the band and fellow fans have given us. Thank you for posting.
