Ok, so Neil young says that he was writing about what he sees going on around him and has like what 20 seconds in the whole interview and you decide to tell him to go back to Canada with his hippie dreams of free speech, political and racial equalitiy. This makes him unacceptable in your opinion to produce music in the United States? Why watch this video if you do not like hippie dreams? Do you know who CSNY are and what they sing about or do you feel that you can do without the "hippie dream"?

I saw them in Melbourne, Australia last year. What a privilege. I couldn't believe they came out here. It was like my little bit of Woodstock. Neil Young didn't come with them. Did he do other tour dates with them?

likewise saw clapton, dylan, brian wilson and CSN in Sydney over past 10 months and they were just brilliant...best concert for years. Had low expectations of Stills....but he was great and his voice was good....his 4 and 20 years ago solo performance touched everyone there!!

i think i read that stills had a stroke ... the damage caused him to become depressed ... his old and dear friend neil young helped him back into the studio and offered him the support to produce "Stills Alone", the album that the song "Tree Top Flyer" is from ... the album is quite good, but it would seem that at 62 years and counting, mr stills will not be the same. it's ok by me. he has had a great run.

If you still have that article I would LOVE to read it because this is truly the first I've heard that he had a stroke. Not many folks realize that Dave Davies of The Kinks also had a stroke and struggled for years to make a full recovery. Doctors also told David Bowie that he was heading toward a stroke by the time he went in for treatment.

I have heard that he doesn't drink anymore. I contribute it to him losing a good deal of his hearing. I had wondered myself if he had had a stroke because it seemed he had to force words out and his voice sounds like he has cotton stuffed in his mouth. My dad sounded that way after he had a stroke. Anyway, I hope that that is not the case. Either way, he is still a brilliant musician.

Yeah, lay off Stills man! I saw CSN&Y on the last tour and the man was on top of his game - especially in the guitar duels w/Neil. True, I hear that his hearing is almost gone - the cost of performing for over 40 years - but the man still has it and this was proven by the performances he gave (all over 3 hours!) on between 30 - 40 dates the last time they were on the road.

I love these guys..I saw them live for the first time in 2002 with my dad..and they had Young at that concert too..their music is as powerful today as it was then..I'm just trying to figure out what happened to Stills..he sounded drunk in that video..I noticed someone said above here in these replies that he had a stroke..is that true?

Yeah, I love Stills to death, but I think either he's been drinking or taking maybe xanax or something that slurs the speech. Both also affect coordination, and having to have Neil Young play with him for Treetop Flyer in 06 compared to his awesome solo say, in the 1980s says something, unfortunately.

Well, The guitar playing is still good...the message and political stance is still the same...the singing voices are holding up, but, I think that somewhere along the way, Stills has suffered a slight stroke. I first noticed it on a Tonight show appearance after 9-11.

I used to see CSN in the 80s when they played very small venues--an old movie theatre in Venice once(!) after Crosby rehabbed, all for small political charities. They were often joined by Jackson Browne, who did this a lot too, and Bonnie Raitt. Stills was fine then, so I wonder if something else is wrong. Best concerts of my life and a kick after seeing them in huge sports places!

I loved these guys for more than 25 yrs. Sometimes it gets to the point where you have to let things go. Each period has its heroes and in the early eighties they were my heroes. But time revolves and a lot of these heroes did not get on with it. You'll see what I mean when listening to "Looking Forward". That was my turning point. It makes me sad to see them now, esp. Stills. Their intensions and messages might be still honorable but I fear that they will miss their effects.

It's not the booze but rather a result of the meds he was taking prior to his surgery for prostate cancer. My father went throught the same thing a few years back.
