  • if the cows were not induced they would have been killed as they would calve too late

  • I`m so thankful sometime for our EU animal regulations and our generally better farming practices-shame on you down under with this practice,if you were real farmers would you do this?

  • I am disgusted in you for working on a farm like this. I am almost more disgusted that you are prepared to ruin the New Zealand dairy industry just because the company you are supporting (working for) is doing this. This is not an example in any way of New Zealand dairy farming and i would know as i am an industry professional and visit many dairy farms in New Zealand every day. I suggest you remove this video and actually do something about this horrific situation.

  • well if you are a dairy farmer then you would fully understand those situations

  • Im a milker and this is only because the farmer is obviously lazy. Most farms here in NZ are very well maintained and the cows are well nourished and live a good life.

  • You know not all NZ dairy farmers do this.. Its only if the farm owner chooses to

  • Buy Brittish.....

but honestly most NZ dairy's are well run and the cows are very happy.

  • This is a very small minority of dairy farming. Inductions are being phased out. This sort of media attention acts negatively on all of nz. Agriculture is the backbone of this great nation and we all benefit either directly, or in directly from it. I'm not saying i agree with inductions, becuase I don't but the ignorance of the general public to farming is getting beyond a joke! Seriously you never see the excellent work of animal husbandary and environmantal management that 99% of farmers do.

  • still happy to get paid for it aye! i spose you hit them on the head to and you still think you're in a position to take some moral ground, this is only the truth about some bad apples in the dairy industry and you are one of them!!! i would have also thought that if you were any good at your job you might have picked them up!

  • Ok So one rotten apple doesnt spoil the whole crop !!!!!

You the video taker knows full well what is happening here that is you are getting paid for the work!!!! You would have been the one to line the cows up for the induction which is not so common anymore... GET A GRIP this doesnt happen all over nz I am a dairy farmer and I DONT INDUCE and I dont know any that do in my area Take responsibilty, you are a part of this if you dont like it get a different job

  • Ok So one rotten apple doesnt spoil the whole crop !!!!!

  • so many sheep farms gone to dairy.......dairy is fucking the rivers an sea...oh well who cares if the farmers are making money an fonterra making even more.its just getting to big to fast ......aye bro!!!!aint it funny price of wool goes up ... the works is in the shit an gunna do beef in mataura an da workers will take a pay cut to pay for the new process plant,

  • @typhoon4eva I don't accept that argument. Doing things the way they've always been done is just an excuse not to use your brain and question things that are morally wrong.

You also didn't answer my question.

  • How is it ethical to enslave sentient, intelligent beings, rape them, kidnap their calves, force them to be pregnant far more often than they would be in the wild, and then kill them at a fraction of their natural life span? It's unnecessary because humans aren't supposed to consume dairy anyway - it's bad for us. Milk contains far too much protein and fats for us. Even without the ethical side, why would you consume something that's so grossly unhealthy?

  • These calves, whether born full term, or induced early were ALL destined to die. They are late in terms of the calving pattern, none were going to be kept for any useful purpose, the question then must be asked - what value are the oponents putting on the life of these calves?? 4 days?? because at best, that's all they were going to be alive for anyway. Inductions managed & overseen with sound advice is a useful tool. Managed poorly & yes there is cause for concern. Look past the emotion ....

  • dude, its time you called TVNZ and asked for payment for this vid, they keep using it, hell tonight they called it "exclusive footage by TVNZ"

  • @123deztinee yur a labour green voting nerrow sited tossa and should pull ya head out of ya arse for once and look ath the big pitcher

  • @rocketrondoherty lol wrong on all counts, ex dairy farmer, just hacked off by the biased reporting on the issue from TVNZ!!

So next time, toke less and read what I actually said, and rethink the tossa comment, unless of course you are looking in the mirror while you are saying it.

  • @123deztinee well if you read it the way you intended it for spot on but if you read it the way i read it it sound like ur anty dairy and my mrs agrees its reads both ways i gess im a 5th generation farmer dont smoke weed and my mrs is a 4 gen dairy farmer as im not a pc wank well this is a subject you dont throw sarcasim at and you cleary have done this

  • man... get a grip!!! its not pretty but, if the cows were not induced, the calves would have been born.... late,=loss of production in the cows, and the cow will be hard if not impossible to get back in calf,so then the cow will be killed, bet you dont film the bobby truck leaving the farm having a cry about how unjust it is.it the same thing!!!

maybe i should upload a video outlining the risks of driving a four wheeler while txting,or videoing in your case, and not wearing a helmet!!!!

  • @typhoon4eva

The difference is that someone who is driving a four wheeler while texting is not exploiting an intelligent, emotional, sentient, living being by forcing them to be pregant then stealing their babies to steal the milk that was meant for those babies, for no good reason because dairy products are actually unhealthy. Get over yourself.

  • @skinbyrd1985

oh yea mate keep wanking yourself,if the calves were born and left on ther mothers the cows would get infections in the udders because one calf cannot drink all the milk one cow can give, which can end in cows dying from black mastitis.i see you live in nz too.i bet you benefit from fonterra in some way,..this is part of it,like it or not,it just needs to be done humanley.if we did what you want there would be no dairy industry!!

  • @typhoon4eva

Actually I don't benefit from Fonterror, because I do not consume dairy and am now far healthier than I have ever been. I look forward to the day when there IS no dairy industry. If you think it's ok to take babies away from their mothers to steal their milk, there is something psychologically wrong with you. Would you like YOUR children to be taken away when they are newborns??

  • @skinbyrd1985 do you eat prossed food do you use make up milk products in them medication its not just milk chese and butter you guys a weird

  • @rocketrondoherty No, I do not eat processed food. It's garbage. I eat fresh as much as possible and eat processed crap very rarely.

Yes I use make up. I buy brands that are not tested on animals and contain no animal products.

I rarely need medication; I am rarely sick since I cut animal products out of my diet.

Yes I agree, the idea that hurting animals and/or enslaving them for our own purposes is really crazy!!!

  • @skinbyrd1985 every1 in new zealand benefits from fonterra.its the countrys biggest export market, when the dairyindustry is gone,u will be fucked, just like every1else in new zealand.and cows are animals, not humans,a dog has its puppies taking away,a cat has its kittens takin away, need i go on?? its the way it goes, its the way its always been. the only time there is anything in the media about dairy farming is when its bad news! you have no idea how a dairy farm runs so just zip it.

  • FACT: One of 1080’s breakdown products is highly toxic fluorocitrate. ref. S. Weaver. 1080 remains stable in distilled water and breaks down extremely slowly in low temperatures, ie. In NZ streams in winter, therefore undegraded 1080 can be washed downwards into ground water and water supplies putting humans at risk.

  • If this is the ugly face of farming then is pales in comparison to what happens to human biengs who are aborted and torn apart to get them out of the womb or induced and left to gasp for breath till they die in the bucket they are placed.

What a sick race we are when we complain about calves and do nothing about abortion. How sick are we that allow jobs and money to cause 95% of these killings

  • Read the dscription it says

  • If you don't mind me asking, what is the cause of these calves' deaths?

  • @abbathino Calves from induced cows I'd say .....

  • That youtube clip is probably on the tame side of what you actually would find.

Those calves all look reasonably mature, and already have been euthanised. You could find calves a lot less mature than those, some still alive and needing euthanasia. Plus even greater numbers than on that clip (50 plus on some farms). Also that is a very clean calving paddock. As calving is at the end of winter it can be very muddy and cold.

  • The more we expose this the more likely it will have to stop. Good for you. Personally I am sickened by what is happening now on NZ dairy farms. I know from experience.
