Lionel Richie sure can write a ballad like no one else. Listening to his music really makes you appreciate a well crafted song and how much this kind of depth and talent is missing in todays music. I'm glad I grew up with this and not Katy Perry/Lady Gaga type music that is so prevelant today.

I think it's important for the fathers of the world to take their daughters to a ballet at least once a year, especially if they would take their sons to a football game at least once a year. A father needs to understand that takiing his daughter down the aisle in an opposite sex marriage isn't a right, it's a privilege,and this is something that leads to that privilege becoming reality. On my 5th birthday, it was a ballerina themed birthday, and my dad and I danced to it, with me and my little tutu.. I miss those days when things were great. it was my perfect day.. and every time I hear this I cry.. never fails, best day of my life!

So..I was 15 when this came out, I just started getting serious about what the future held for me. Back then, thinking about life, the universe, and everything, it was a magical time. I was just starting to really notice sad melodies. I mean, the late 70s through mid 80s had lots of haunting songs, and I noticed them all. This song, Leather and lace (Stevie Nicks), Holding back the years (Simply Red), and Don't dream it's over (Crowded house). Strange sounding songs, but beautiful.

This song is so precious! I remember Lionel Richie saying that he wrote this song for Nicole because at the time he was always away from home traveling with this band and he didnt get to see her much so he made this song to dedicate to his lil girl! too bad they didnt use her in the music video as a lil ballerina girl

I had forgotten about this song until last summer I came accross it again and it makes me cry because my daughter was getting ready for her dance recital and this year she just informed me she will be dancing to this song. So i guess i will need 2 boxes of tissues. She has been dancing for 8 years. She's such a beautiful ballerina & young lady.

This song always reminds me of my autistic son, he doesn't do ballet, but I am always watching him try to stay up with the rest of the class. But Mommy is always the one he is smiling at while he tries soooo hard
