jankovic IMO is too unstable as a player, too fragile. shes good, but shes kinda like monfils - scary potential injuries and inconsistent play and whacko mentality at times. dono how she got to no.1 tho to be honest.

She got to number one because at the time, none of those things you listed were an issue. Unfortunately, she couldn't keep it up and now you see her inconsistent form right now.

@BrotherTree1 thats not true! She totally deserved that No.1 ranking. In 2008, she played constantly from beggining to the end of the season. She is only player in 2008 who reached 3 Semi-finals on Grand Slams(and 1 final), she won 3 titles in a row( total 4 titles in this year and 2 finals), played the most Semi-finals on wta tour. Also she have positive score against sister Williams and top 10 players. Wozniacki has never beaten Jankovic, Serena, Clijsters, Venus and Henin ! JJ DESERVED NO.1!!

@hedonista91 yeah u make a valid point there. shes a good player, but sometimes i feel really scared for her. shes so athletic n stuff, just really hope she doesn't injure herself. i feel both jelly and caro deserved no.1 spots -- never said jj didnt deserve it, but i felt it was surprising that she did. i didn't feel it was a bad thing at all.

if you notice, caroline's style is all modern-her windshield-wiper forehand, shortened serve swing, and even her backhand. very athletic, too, great footwork!

I guess the grass is the most inconvinient surface for nowadayz TOP5 (excert Dementieva she is still in game) - it's like a curse for Sharapova, Serbians and Sveta. Also black sist's feel comfy on the grass, esp Venus. ;)

Not so sure about that. Jelena did beat two of the best grass courts players of this generation: Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova. Nothing against Tammy but has she done that? no.

Apart from her backhand down the line, Jelena's best weapons in tennis are her fake-injury time out and her illegal on court coaching, thank god next round shes playing without hawkeye on court 18. Go Tamie!

Yeah I agree shes a great mover and takes it early but Im rooting for Tamie shes a natural on grass.
