  • I understood that the lead singer of this group was Cissy Houston? Whitney's mother.

Or, at some point she was one of the lead singers? Anybody able to clarify or confirm this? I came across this song about a year ago, and I read that the lead singer was Cissy Houston. Please help clarify,

  • what you might not know is that nosha fox was an uncredited member used for backing tracks, she later had success in the uk as a member of the band FOX her real name was susan traynor

  • belongs up there with "Who Do You Love" by the Saphires and the Jaynettes and Candy and the Kisses

  • Nice! Never heard of them--as usual.

  • I heard it often growing up on on NYC/and or Philly stations where it was a pretty big hit.

  • Awesome cut...

  • Mychal : ) They were nurses, I believe? A "mixed-race" group, or ... ? Just curious. I love this song : )

  • @JimmyBoi2

Yes, all three had full time jobs as nurses.

  • @JimmyBoi2 Actually, I just figured things out. There were two groups that used the name Charmettes. One group was white that was around in the late 50's and early 60's. The other group was black and they came out in in mid 60's. Some users on here are getting the two groups mixed up. One of the singers from the white group was killed in 1961. Her name was Betty Gail Brown. Then there was another group called the Sharmettes. It's very confusing.

  • I loved this song when I first heard it in the early 60's. Still a great song!! Thanks for the post.

  • My cousin Betty Simmons was in this group ( One on the far right) She resides in the mid west now still living well and looking good.
