  • This was my 3rd Jerry show, and this was absolute magic! My 1st show was Jerry Garcia Band at Waterbury, Ct. '76. 2nd show was Colt Park, HArtford, Ct. Bad vibes at both shows, and then Cornell! What a beautiful, peaceful scene thanks to the college security guards. My first 2 shows were marred by Hells Angel type security guards who stole all the alcohol and drugs, then openly consumed them all while laughing at the hippies! If anyone has photos from this show I will pay for them!

  • @tdub1959 i seriously envy you.....wish i could have felt the full experience just one time

  • Big Red !

  • i have the entire 1977 run, all from A+ soundboard sources and the quality isn't why Cornell is so highly regarded - listen to Brown Eyed Women, St. Stephen->NFA->St. Stephen, and Morning Dew and then find any other version in the 30 year run that comes close to the peaks they hit in Ithaca that magical night in May.

  • Inspiring! Good, solid sound!

  • 1st show I ever heard on a bootleg cassette 1988...at 18...hooked in ever since

  • Certainly not the "Best show ever" but very good quality.

  • Wish i were there,,,,,,,that would've been cool......"CUSE'"

  • @weaver1971 would have been an amazing experience

  • PHIILLLLLLL

  • from the other direction baby! pure jerry oh yeah!!!

  • Eye knew she waz knot like other girls...been.

    look en thy eyes...

    wise..let her pass, bye.

  • I have always wondered if there would have been more shows as good as this one if technology had been better in the 70's. If you notice, this show, the "best show ever" also has the best access to very clean and quality SBD. Can listen to the whole show right now on youtube. know what I mean? coincedence?

  • @pcburgh01 You can stream sound board recordings at archive.org. I can't remember not being able to find a show I was looking for there. Not to say it is 100% complete, but it's always had what I'm looking for.

  • @vatosplace I love archive.org. The only shows that they have unposted are ones that they have remastered and released as CD's or paid downloads. I was so happy to find a.o and be able to listen to my 1st show on a great soundboard for the first time since I saw it. ...Blew me away! Again!

  • @vatosplace this is the best and 1'st show i ever hued and still think its the best thay ever did

  • @PcTwEekers omg THE DARK STAR FROM THIS SHOW JUST WOW

  • @vatosplace yah I know, but the casual fan wouldn't seek out those shows. This show was circulated to a much higher degree. That's all I was alluding to. Thanks for the link though. I am on frequently though. ;) - Be grateful. Peace.

  • @pcburgh01 archive.org/details/GratefulDead

  • @pcburgh01 There's no question recordings like this would help any show but there's also no doubt about the strength of this second set. This Scarlet Begonias is perfectly played like no other and the Morning Dew later in the set is just as incredible.

  • @pcburgh01 I agree man, but I also think that young heads like me will hear 5/8/77 is the best show so they go download it... and of course it rocks! I think its the best or most popular show partially because everyone thinks it is.. IMO 5/5/77 is better and there are allot of dates around the spring of 77' that are surley comperable. They were on fire that spring!

  • My favorite show!!!

  • lol ithaca is my home town

  • Love this Scarlett, love this show.

  • So where is the mix from - I've got this from a few different sources but this feels like a hybrid SNBD+AUD....? How can I get a copy?

Freakin love this set from this night....it's a classic for a reason!

  • @SoPhast You can download or stream the show from archive.org in the Grateful Dead audio archives. I believe this copy to be a soundboard. I downloaded this show in 2004 or 2005.

  • @vatosplace You can no longer download soundboard copies from archive.org. Audience recordings, sure. But you can only stream the soundboard and matrix recordings. This does indeed sound like one of the matrix recordings. There is probably some way to game the system to download the swf files as you stream them.

  • @SoPhast yep it's a fantastic sbd/aud matrix, and it's one of the finest you'll ever have the pleasure of hearing!

  • AMAZING

  • I guess there is someone else out there that knows their stuff

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • EPIC

  • Such a great show, check out the Morning Dew and Not Fade Away in addition to Scarlet/Fire - killer Dancin also

  • This is my favorite dead song!

  • Phill is dropping killer bass bombs! (and acid)Its the "space between" the notes that give me the chills, you can hear them listening if you dig what i mean.

  • not dropping acid...the acid days were well over by 1973.

  • @kidbertha huh..not for me..weeeeee

  • @kidbertha

Not true. We saw them in 1980, and they had a dealer traveling with them selling liquid LSD to concert goers and Dead Heads. The place was packed with trippers. The show had two sets and lasted about 3 hours. My ticket stub looks like the one in this video except for date and place details.

  • @cmfishburn Crisp bass slides up and down that neck! my favorite part

  • 1 of my 1st bootlegs always been a fav. phil was all up in that mix

  • you can listen to the whole show on archive.org. the scarlet--> fire is my personal favorite. take a listen! go! now! what are you waiting for?!
