It's probably already been mentioned, but a couple of my classmates from South Eugene High School came up with that idea and pitched it to Ranier. They made $500 for it. lol. Love of the best commercials ever!
Coors did one that started out just like this, only here comes a coors truck and it drowns out the sound of the motorcycle and the truck goes "coooooors..." as it speeds on by. Anyone remember that one?
@greatandoddogre No they didn't. Doesn't matter who makes it. it's still the same beer. Same recipe, same ingredients. A lot of the brands you know are actually brewed by other brewer other than the one that owns the brand. Breweries often contract out the work to other breweries. In this case, Pabst now owns the brand and the recipe. It's the same beer. Only the company that owns it and brews it has changed.

This brought me back to my tv watching days in my childhood. My brother and I would run around outside saying this all day. Thanks so much for sharing!
I had to give up drinking Budweiser because it is getting way to exspensive -like $18 for a 18 pack at some places! I just bought a 18 pack of Rainer today for $9.88! Fuck off Budweiser!!
@ozmedia strange lake. I mean people get killed by drunken boaters , the lake is fake( not natuaral) Oh , and Tiger probably will never hear of it, nor play it ..if you were desparetly wondering.
@572ss1972 No kidding. People get killed by drunker boaters in most lakes. And I certainly wouldn't expect Tiger to play a par 3 executive course. THanks for yoru comment all teh same, relevant or not.
@tao7780 was Chip Hanauer piloting the Ms Budweiser? That's just code for saying "I'm Local!!!" This was the Rainer commercial was the best commercial ever; right up there with the old "Do the Puyallup" commercials... Hehe, told ya I was local!
I was explaining this commercial to my three kids (and having them practice their 'R's at the same time! I was so happy to actually have found it-great memories! Thanks for uploading,(with my luck, they'll teach all their friends at school...:$) And yes, that IS the beer in the Twilight movie, a nice authentic touch only a local would know :D
I lived in Tacoma in the 70s and there was Presidents Beer and some beer in a white can that had a picture of a guy that looked like Burl Ives. Anyone know the name of the beer?
@panktainter did you ever find out what the name of the beer was? I saw your post a couple days ago and asked around but no one seems to know or remember. I was a kid back in the 70s so I can't remember first hand.
By the way, does anyone have the link to the classic Stroh's commercial where Alex is digging in the neighbor's yard and manages to bury a 15 pack and a whole Stroh's delivery truck?
A beer distributer in Missoula, Montana spoofed this commercial for Hamms Beer by having a Hamms beer truck hitting the motorcyclist head on and playing the Hamms theme
I'd like to see it. So, wasn't the Rainier commercial local? I'm from Seattle, so don't know how far they distributed their products. Many of the other great commercials they did were aimed at locals.
Great ad, Rainer had probably the most inspired ads on TV. It's a pity the company is out of business. Maybe someone should start a Rainer microbrew in Seattle?
Great commercial, but has Rainier ever put out a commercial for "Green Death" AKA Rainier Ale? Only thing I've ever seen is the back of Mudhoney's "Superfuzz BigMuff" when the boys are partaking.
Thank you for posting this! This vid was shot in my home town of Buckley WA. My dad told me about it as a kid, and I've always wanted to see it. Such a great commercial with the view of Mt. Rainier in the background.
Too bad the closest mountain to where the stuff is brewed now is magic mountain ... i find it sacreligious passing it off as mountain fresh when its brewed in the crappiest state in the union. california has ruined vitamin R and the whole pacific northwest
Contrary to what you apparently believe, California didn't steal Rainier Beer. The Pabst brewing company moved its production there quite voluntarity. As for California being the "crappiest" state in the union... I've heard that sort of jealousy from non-Californians my entire life (and predictably, they all deny its jealousy, despite the obvious facts).
Yeah california is so great normal people are fleeing it in droves and the only one who wants to move there are illegals and immigrants from 3rd world countries. Also Pabst is not the same as Rainier. An out of state company buying the name doesn't mean anyone local had anything to do with moving the production of Rainier.
Brings back memories of when I used to see this commercial when I was a kid. I wish someone would post the version that had the motorcycle going backwards and saying "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-CYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY-CLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLE!"
@extramice I'm confused. All of your policy makers are from Cali? I met more redneck hillbilly ass-backwards rejects in Washington than I ever met in California.
Wow. This commercial was filmed about 40 miles south of Issaquah, but at the time Issaquah was mostly fields and there was an airstrip next to I-90. And down in Lewis County Mt. St. Helens was a perfect cone, with Spirit Lake being one of the clearest and most beautiful lakes around.
The best one was with Bill the Beerman hunting wild rainiers with the giant bottle opener but this one's a classic as well. Thanks for posting this stuff!
Oh man, thank you! I was a kid and a friend of mine told me about this commercial. I finally saw it... once... on TV when I was on vacation in Oregon. I cracked up so hard, haha... awesome. Thanks! 5*
I am so glad to have found this. I grew up just about a mile or two from where this was filmed. In fact, my friends and I came to call this "Rainier Road" I can even remember a few of us driving our cars out to the intersection that is passed in this video and laying on the hoods of our cars to watch meteor showers...
For those who know the area - Lake Tapps is to the right of the motorcycle, Buckley is straight ahead.

This is almost the best. There's actually a variation of this one which has the motorcycle on a mountain road and the animals are in the background making noices (birds, frogs, crickets, etc..) This was also where the Rainier frogs came from. After the motorcycle passes all the sounds are now saying Rainier in some form or another. The best commercial ever.
