  • I use to drink Vitamin R when I was in high school.

  • when was this made?...1980?

  • Smodcast!

  • It's probably already been mentioned, but a couple of my classmates from South Eugene High School came up with that idea and pitched it to Ranier. They made $500 for it. lol. Love of the best commercials ever!

  • This is a classic beer commercial. Extraordinarily creative. The ad executives for this promo should have gotten a raise...

  • If you dislike this commercial, your heart doesn't pump blood. It pumps tar.

  • Coors did one that started out just like this, only here comes a coors truck and it drowns out the sound of the motorcycle and the truck goes "coooooors..." as it speeds on by. Anyone remember that one?

  • It's too bad they quit brewing real Rainier beer back in the 90's. The shit you can buy now in Rainier labels is actually made by Pabst.

  • @greatandoddogre No they didn't. Doesn't matter who makes it. it's still the same beer. Same recipe, same ingredients. A lot of the brands you know are actually brewed by other brewer other than the one that owns the brand. Breweries often contract out the work to other breweries. In this case, Pabst now owns the brand and the recipe. It's the same beer. Only the company that owns it and brews it has changed.

  • oh man this old commercial was all the rage back home in the NW back in the day!!

  • i live like 5 min away from that road ... infact i drove on it today!

  • i hear this on the end like everyday

  • but don't drink and drive

  • Man, that really takes me back 30 years

  • filmed right down the road from my house!!

  • Thank you too much Skip ! ! ! -- Added to my favorites list

  • by shit i meant commercial

  • this is so old but i love it. i wasnt even born when this shit came out

  • i've been hearing this on the radio lately its awesome

  • Been hearing the audio from this ad on KISW lately. Funny thing about advertising: I've also been drinking more Rainier lately.

  • WATCH THE VIDEO "INTERVENCHIN" ON YOUTUBE ITS HILARIOUS

  • WATCH THE VIDEO "INTERVENCHIN" ON YOUTUBE ITS HILARIOUS

  • lol, I remember I was about 4 or 5 years old, riding in my parents station wagon and hearing this commercial on the radio. back in like 1979-80.

  • haha this was film on the road by my house in yelm Washington

  • this was filmed right by my house, the border between bonney lake and buckly washington

  • Yep, just looked outside. Hood is pointy, like your head.

  • RAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIII-NIIIIIIIEEEERRRRRRRRR BEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRR...

  • Nice motorcycle!!!

  • thats Mt. Rainier, whadda ya new? peter.

  • This was gosh dang classic!! Remember that from when I was younger. Always loved when a new Rainier commercial came along.

  • That's Mt. Hood in the background, not Mt. Rainier.

  • um, no. Hood is pointy. That's Rainier.

  • Smod too had to youtube it

  • heard about this commercial on smodcast 123.

  • @blacktopaz8 That's funny, I heard about it when it first aired on T.V.

  • vitamin R

  • Rainier Ice, the green death.

  • This brought me back to my tv watching days in my childhood. My brother and I would run around outside saying this all day. Thanks so much for sharing!

  • One of the all time best.

    The beer though...

  • My family went on the Rainier Brewery tour when I was 13. They all got so blotto that I had to drive everyone back to Yakima!

I miss Rainier! " Rainier Dry" was awesome!

  • Just up the road from where i made a few of my vids. Nowdays, there's development just off to the right in the current point of view.

  • I had to give up drinking Budweiser because it is getting way to exspensive -like $18 for a 18 pack at some places! I just bought a 18 pack of Rainer today for $9.88! Fuck off Budweiser!!

  • this is the only Beer ad my dad can ever remember. He says it is the greatest

  • It was filmed on the Buckley - Lake tapps road. It still looks exactly like that today.

  • Love lake Tapps, not a bad golf course either, for a small simple course, great views.

  • @ozmedia strange lake. I mean people get killed by drunken boaters , the lake is fake( not natuaral) Oh , and Tiger probably will never hear of it, nor play it ..if you were desparetly wondering.

  • @572ss1972 No kidding. People get killed by drunker boaters in most lakes. And I certainly wouldn't expect Tiger to play a par 3 executive course. THanks for yoru comment all teh same, relevant or not.

  • Good memories.

  • i remember watching this commercial when the hydroplane races were one that my dad made me watch!

  • .....and your still traumatized by the experience ?

  • @tao7780 was Chip Hanauer piloting the Ms Budweiser? That's just code for saying "I'm Local!!!" This was the Rainer commercial was the best commercial ever; right up there with the old "Do the Puyallup" commercials... Hehe, told ya I was local!

  • I was explaining this commercial to my three kids (and having them practice their 'R's at the same time! I was so happy to actually have found it-great memories! Thanks for uploading,(with my luck, they'll teach all their friends at school...:$) And yes, that IS the beer in the Twilight movie, a nice authentic touch only a local would know :D

  • Wow brings back memories. Thanks for uploading.

  • I lived in Tacoma in the 70s and there was Presidents Beer and some beer in a white can that had a picture of a guy that looked like Burl Ives. Anyone know the name of the beer?

  • @panktainter did you ever find out what the name of the beer was? I saw your post a couple days ago and asked around but no one seems to know or remember. I was a kid back in the 70s so I can't remember first hand.

By the way, does anyone have the link to the classic Stroh's commercial where Alex is digging in the neighbor's yard and manages to bury a 15 pack and a whole Stroh's delivery truck?

  • @madcapper6

The beer is Uncle Ben's beer. Even have a photo.

  • northwest, rock, rock on

  • there was a tornado there on labor day weekend 2009. it destroyed a barn

  • Thank you too much ! - A real pleasure! - says a native Seattle-ite

  • Best ever!! Is this same same kind of Beer Charlie And Billy Drink in Twilight?

  • Same beer, blackbear. Vitamin R, baby!

  • Yah Yvonne Ward did a few years back.

Funny some of the barb wire fencing is her commercial was still up

  • Comment removed

  • One of my favorite Rainier commercials.

  • Shot on back road from Lake Tapps through dairy land on the way to Buckley - Buckley Tapps Hwy E

  • Shows how times have changed - you'd never see a beer commercial combined with driving on TV today.

  • HAHAH A OWOWOWOWOWOO!!!!!!!!

  • Great commerical or greatest commerical?

Gotta love that you can get a 15 pack for under 20 bucks here, what a deal!

  • Anyone remember the Archie Bunker look and sound alike for Heidelberg? "Everything premium except the price?" Those keg botles...

  • I wonder where this was shot? Buckley? Enumclaw? Eatonville? Yelm???

  • Buckley

  • Good question or orting ?graham? or spanaway?

  • Buckley Bonnie lake area

  • I live in Federal way. It could also be auburn, black diamond area.

  • There is a video that a state politician did imitating this commercial. She did it near Bonnie lake Buckley area.

  • Boy, this one takes me back--growing up in Oregon in the 70's, this one and the one with the Rainier frogs were my favorites.

  • This is by far the greatest commercial EVER!

  • totally agree.

  • A beer distributer in Missoula, Montana spoofed this commercial for Hamms Beer by having a Hamms beer truck hitting the motorcyclist head on and playing the Hamms theme

  • is it on here somewhere?

  • I wish it was. It was a local commercial

  • I'd like to see it. So, wasn't the Rainier commercial local? I'm from Seattle, so don't know how far they distributed their products. Many of the other great commercials they did were aimed at locals.

  • The beer distibuter commercial in Missoula's ad only ran in Western Montana. It would be nice if it was on here

  • Classic. I grew up w/this commercial!!! thx!

  • definitely

  • class it up a bit and pronounce it ron-yay

  • Rainer Beer is Husky Piss

  • glad they still make this beer. I like how they went back to the old 70s era looking can logo nowadaze. The talls are the best. Cheers from WA!

  • This beer died when the plant closed down along I-5. The 80s and 90s saw regional breweries die. Only the name lives on.

  • This one and the frog one were always my two favorite Rainier commercials.

  • im very sad some fucking californian now makes my beloved Rainier beer

  • yeah but its still made with yakima valley hops. But I get your point.

  • now i want some raiiinieeer beeeeeer

  • this makes me sad... i grew up n yakima and now live in FL and I wanna have sum!

  • i'm drinking a rainier right now

  • Great ad, Rainer had probably the most inspired ads on TV. It's a pity the company is out of business. Maybe someone should start a Rainer microbrew in Seattle?

  • Weinards in Portland was awefully close on some of their ads. Lots of funny stuff. Schludwiller Beer? remember that?

  • Great commercial, but has Rainier ever put out a commercial for "Green Death" AKA Rainier Ale? Only thing I've ever seen is the back of Mudhoney's "Superfuzz BigMuff" when the boys are partaking.

  • that looks like the Marlboro typeface

  • Thank you for posting this! This vid was shot in my home town of Buckley WA. My dad told me about it as a kid, and I've always wanted to see it. Such a great commercial with the view of Mt. Rainier in the background.

  • That is still one of the simplest and best commercials ever!

  • I too, grew up with this awesome video & local beer. Back in the day, when it was BLITZ Weinhard, instead of Henrys.

Im also looking to get a question answered. Anybody remember Rainier Bock? Black can, Gold Script.. Out for a very short while.

  • I remember Rainier Bock. Vaguely...lol.

  • Too bad the closest mountain to where the stuff is brewed now is magic mountain ... i find it sacreligious passing it off as mountain fresh when its brewed in the crappiest state in the union. california has ruined vitamin R and the whole pacific northwest

  • jbob,

Contrary to what you apparently believe, California didn't steal Rainier Beer. The Pabst brewing company moved its production there quite voluntarity. As for California being the "crappiest" state in the union... I've heard that sort of jealousy from non-Californians my entire life (and predictably, they all deny its jealousy, despite the obvious facts).

  • Yeah california is so great normal people are fleeing it in droves and the only one who wants to move there are illegals and immigrants from 3rd world countries. Also Pabst is not the same as Rainier. An out of state company buying the name doesn't mean anyone local had anything to do with moving the production of Rainier.

  • You should probably get your facts straight before saying things that make you look foolish.

  • as someone who grew up in kitsap co (bremerton/Silverdale) and now live in Oakland, CA, I disagree

  • you lost the brewery to Pabst years ago. are you mental? get the net!

seriously though, Pabst bought Rainier, closed down the brewery and now contracts the brewing to Miller, another company from the midwest.

  • Brings back memories of when I used to see this commercial when I was a kid. I wish someone would post the version that had the motorcycle going backwards and saying "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-CYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY-CLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLE!"

  • I can't believe that WAS our beautiful state I remember when.

  • The real Washington State, before it went twinklenuts on me.

  • Boy, isn't that the truth!

  • The invasion of Californians is what twinklenuts our evergreen state

  • I will never forgive Cali for what their loser rejects did to the best place to live in America.

  • @extramice A-fucking men!

  • @extramice Typical Seattle elitist, entitled asshole response.

  • @emanonDratsab I think that's Californian code for "you're right"

  • @extramice I'm confused. All of your policy makers are from Cali? I met more redneck hillbilly ass-backwards rejects in Washington than I ever met in California.

  • Wow. This commercial was filmed about 40 miles south of Issaquah, but at the time Issaquah was mostly fields and there was an airstrip next to I-90. And down in Lewis County Mt. St. Helens was a perfect cone, with Spirit Lake being one of the clearest and most beautiful lakes around.

  • Easily the best commercial ever! It would be the most talked about Superbowl commercial if it was aired this year!

Luckily we saw it in Vancouver on the Seattle stations.

  • The best one was with Bill the Beerman hunting wild rainiers with the giant bottle opener but this one's a classic as well. Thanks for posting this stuff!

  • Vitamin R

    ah the good ole days

  • Classic. I remember this from when I was about 6 or 7 years old.

  • Me too.

  • I guess we figured out where this is filmed at...the real question is: What type of motorcycle is it?

  • The kind that you shouldn't ride if you've been drinking Rainier Beer! . . . I'll get back to you about something more specific.

  • The motorcycle was a Honda 750, about 1980.

  • Oh man, thank you! I was a kid and a friend of mine told me about this commercial. I finally saw it... once... on TV when I was on vacation in Oregon. I cracked up so hard, haha... awesome. Thanks! 5*

  • rightous

  • second best. first place goes to the frogs.

  • I am so glad to have found this. I grew up just about a mile or two from where this was filmed. In fact, my friends and I came to call this "Rainier Road" I can even remember a few of us driving our cars out to the intersection that is passed in this video and laying on the hoods of our cars to watch meteor showers...

For those who know the area - Lake Tapps is to the right of the motorcycle, Buckley is straight ahead.

  • where in washington is this!? i've lived in washington my whole life and never been here! plz tell! i need to go on a ride before the rain hits

  • I'm pretty sure it is hwy 410 between Puyallup and Sumner. But it looks nothing like the commercial now... Rural Thurston county has some nice rides, though I'm afraid the rain has already started.

  • Actually, this location is at 47.201887,-122.1222, on what Buckley Tapps Hwy (aka N Tapps Hwy) near the intersection with Radke Road...

410 actually goes from 167, through Sumner, on to Boney Lake, Buckley, etc...

  • i was writer-producer for this spot (and scores more). i'm glad it's remembered fondly; read more at my blog (though the system won't let me list the address!) --oh well, cheers anyway!

  • I heard that this commercial was either nominated or won a Cleo Award. Is that true?

  • rainier was my dad's brew... i was 3 when this commercial came out and it is STILL my favorite! so glad to see it again!

  • LOL my Dad shoulda owned the Rainier brewery. He didn;t drink anything else.

  • Where exactly is this road? If I'm ever down that way with my family, I'd love to take them to that stretch of road and drive it while doing the "Raiiiiinneeeeeeerrrrrrrr,Beeeeeeerrrrrrr"-thing. Sure they'll think dad's completely lost it, but my wife will get it!

  • Buckley, Washington. The first house I ever lived in was on that road, the Old Buckley Highway.

  • thank you!!!!!so much this is thEE one iwas looking for!way back!what year exactly was it?

  • Brings me back to my Bremerton days in the Navy. Thanks!

  • My dad used to tell me about this commercial when I was a kid...so glad I found it! He laughed when I showed it to him.

  • I've always been able to recite this since I was a little kid. Now I know the source.

  • This is definately the all time fav of my rainer beer commercials!!!

  • There is not a single commercial ever that is as good as this one. This is the champ!

  • there is no bad rainier commercial have 3300 items in my collection would love to have a dvd of all the commercials

  • Please do, you can upload em here.

  • Hands Down...This is still the best commercial ever! Like it or not, if you saw in in 1979 you still remember it today. That is was advertising is all about! I hated this commercial as a kid...had to leave the room every time. Wow, what an impression.

  • OMG does this take me back. I grew up in Anchorage and loved it when this commercial came on. We'd all be out at recess imitating it.

  • I have been looking for this one for a long time. Rainier had some real memorable videos!! This one was great!

  • This was of my favorite locally made commercials from Seattle!

  • Something tells me I missed out for having been born and lived my whole life in Ohio. :-(

  • This is the best commercial ever made in the history of the universe.

  • This is almost the best. There's actually a variation of this one which has the motorcycle on a mountain road and the animals are in the background making noices (birds, frogs, crickets, etc..) This was also where the Rainier frogs came from. After the motorcycle passes all the sounds are now saying Rainier in some form or another. The best commercial ever.
