As Kolchak is trying to recount his latest creepy escapade, talking into his tape recorder under the influence of mind-altering drugs, brainwashing, torture, etc., it just gives you that totally unsettling feeling that there's so much secret, sinister stuff going on all the time we don't know about, and probably never will. And yet, it controls our lives.....
I also grew up with the original series. As with all bureaucratic minds in television, this show suffered from a few not so scripts, this is not one of them. Jeff Rice's story and Darren McGavin
Love Kolchak and the series but ever noticed that back in the 70's anything having to do with science and the future always included blinking lights and leotards?
@lobo65ish There was a "Star Trek" episode ('60s, actually) where plastic shower curtains were used to construct bio-hazard-type suits for the actors. A decade later, a "Doctor Who" story featured a slithery alien portrayed by an actor rolled up in bubble wrap. Those shows were/are great, though---just like "Kolchak: The Night Stalker"!

I was 9 when this aired, didn't sleep for days afterwards. Mr RING and the Gunslinger from Westworld are the original Terminators.

Robot acts similarly to the monster in the movie Frankenstein.

@samk1101 I think, in part, the story was based on "Frankenstein".
