  • I came to this page to learn about humanistic psycology. Not to hear this religious bullshit!!!

  • Wrong! There's the concept of self and Self. The latter is the impersonal Spirit (perhaps not calling it this), or that which perhaps, I know many humanists even, aspire to, which is them at their best, and their true self, rather than the selfish and sensual self or personality. This video doesn't make itself look directly like some-kind of Christian propaganda, but after looking further at these videos, I can clearly see their false agenda, and false information.

  • Hey that's great. Now lets all watch a nazi educational video about the jewish culture. I'm sure it will be just as accurate.

  • This was made by religious people to shit on something so beatiful as Humanism, poor little people.

  • @BobbyShyne : What do you mean exactly by "religious people"?

  • " Though it posits that human beings are capable of being ethical and moral without religion or God, it neither assumes humans to be inherently or innately good" - Wikipedia on Secular Humanism.

Much of the basis of this video is founded in false claims about the topic at hand

  • Ill sum this up for those who lack Humanity. You must choose to hand away the very thing that makes you a homo sapein. Logic. You cannot, at anytime be both Human and religious at the same moment. You either admit your diminished state psychologically and take on religion or you live up to your animal classification and toss aside ridiculous superstition because it requires a suspension of logic to feign belief. This makes the religious on earth subhuman, lesser, failed and fallen. Broken.

  • aham! brahmasmi.

i am the root cause for whether i am GOD or DEMON.

every human has the potential to become BUDDHA(GREAT HUMAN)

  • it makes a certain amount of sense, however i still feel as if humanist psychology is a byproduct of hippy mentality

    .

  • @Ambika2712 I would argue that just because someone is a hippy, it does not mean that their philosophy is automatically defunct.

  • @Ambika2712 Except that humanism predates the hippy movement by decades. If anything, the hippy movement was a byproduct of one strain of humanism.

  • Sounds very utopian.

  • Yea total crap, god is totally real! Just like Thor, Odin, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Try to debate their existence and I'll show you what real faith is.

  • @megaman9000 chill...

  • What a load of crap!

  • hey! that guy with the glasses is non other than a Michael behe, a known creationist, ahem intelligent design guy(same thing, differnt name), boy would a I recognize his douchebag face anywhere.

And when was the last time these guys picked up a psychology book, the 1960's?

  • Wrong! from the start. you don't have to be atheist to be humanist, agnostic would be the correct term, this is christian propaganda.

  • @VAJJification

What do you expect, the christian motto is 'if you cannot attack the idea, attack the person'

  • @VAJJification

    Right!

  • Humans are the sole determiners of their lives and the deciders of their being but this doesn't have anything to do with atheism. God is not someone who limits human progress, dignity, freedom, capabilities, etc he the full expression of these think about it He's God he's eternal and the most powerful nothing can box him in. "God is dead" is one of the most dangerous and thankfully fully impossible ideas ever created. God is the giver of all freedom and liberty.

God is dead = atheistic slavery

  • Secular humanism I agree is atheistic but that is not original humanism. Humanism as a philosphy started with the Christians in the Renaissance and can even be traced back to Ancient Greece. The famous humanist Thomas Moore believed that the best way to improve society and enhance human capabilities and potential was to learn and study the Bible. This led to a major increase in the production and sales of Bibles catalyzed by the Gutenburg printing press.

  • Isn't it sad that many people think they have to be an atheist to be a humanist. Most atheists I see are very proud of their atheism but atheism helps nothing on your deathbed.

  • Humanism is a product of Atheism. Thats a fact. It definitely wasn't Orthodox Jews or Christians or any other religious persons who first introduced humanism. It was definitely Atheists who did that

The very name "Humanism" indicates that it is Atheism. "Humanism" means that humans are the sole determiners of the course of human life. That humans are the highest authority, since within the Humanist Manifesto they declared that "God is dead". Meaning that he's non existent & never did exist

  • Also humanistic psychology is greatly influenced by existentialism beacuse existentialism places strong emphasis on human choices independent of social influence and guess who's the father of existentialism and postmodernism, a philosopher and devout christian theologian by the name of Soren Kierkegaard. Carl Rogers was born in a devout christian family, Abraham Maslow and Erich Fromm were jewish, and Rollo May was heavily influenced by the Christian existentialist Paul Tillich.

  • Humanism does not imply atheism. I can tell you that humanistic psychology is more compatible with the christian belief in the soul than the mechanistic and materialistic psychology of behaviorism and strict psychobiology. What I'm saying is that humanism and christianity are more compatible than most people think. Both stress the persons own decisions in life and their personal worth. Our soul is our true self.

  • @marketofideas - Christianity should only stress that Christ paid the price of a lost world, for once and for all and forever. Thats the basis of Christianity. Yes the Soul is our inner true self, but, Christians don't look to "inner power" to do anything, because all power comes through faith. If this is not the message, then its simply NOT Christianity.

Simply put, I don't think Humanism is anything like Christianity.

  • You're right.

How DARE these humanist assholes think that other people have certain basic rights. How DARE those evil satanists believe that the enjoyment of existence, of being alive is a pretty good thing. How DARE they think that we make our own purposes in life? What's next, allowing people to have their OWN lives?

*The end of days truly is near*

  • Secular Humanist's philosophy is all about the self. Self this, self that, self, self, self

Also, they say the most evil thing is Christianity

Well, whataya know? It must be a mere coincidence????? If you've ever listened to Satanists speak... they say precisely the same things????

  • It's incredible that there are any people at all that are dumb enough to believe in the words of obvious cretins like Carl Rogers

He's aware of the incredible amounts of destructive, cruel & malevolent behaviors. However, the evil is not inherent in human nature.

I suppose he believed that all the evil behaviors which he recognized, were learned by humans from The Penguin & The Riddler

Just kidding, actually from Snake Oiler & Capt. Terror!

Oh wait, I forgot, they learned it from religion,

  • especially Christianity. That's right, & according to Rogers & the humanist ape gang, God doesn't exist. Therefor, he made nothing. Thus, the evil religions that cause human's evil behaviors, simply made themselves!

"Spontaneous Religious Generation"! or "Evilgenesis" by naturalistic causes

There, it's final then. Even the cretin Rogers proves it. Precisely as I've known all along, "Naturalism" is evil

Humanists say one must turn to himself for answers to one's problems

  • However, with such an utterly & obviously imbecilic philosophy, one can see why it's only a matter of time before one or more of these imbeciles "ARE" your problem

Indeed! For in their cretinous arrogance, they love to forcibly impose their imbecility upon the non moronic. Then, one may practice their method of looking to oneself for the answer... but ooooh noooo, that's simply not right this time. Of course not, for my self, correctly informed me that these imbeciles are the problem
