@lilcha85 It is when Trey actually nails it. It makes me cringe when he butchers it. Which happened a lot in 2003. I'm going to see them for the first time since IT in Atlanta tomorrow (June 14, 2011). My first show was November 15, 1998 in Murfreesboro, TN. I'm really excited to see how things are going to be now. But I do agree with the initial statement. Free is a killer lick.
@johnm14 Dammit I just saw that guitar online the other day and now I can't remember the brand. IIRC it's definitely not a Danelectro, but the company is still making guitars today.
Damn man I will post back when I remember, OH YEAH. I think it's a cort? Let me go check
and btw, hats off to these guys. the official, only in the hearts of DEAD fans, motherfuckers of the new world. i'm just glad i was there to revel in it.
i love how in the beginning it is heavy on the guitar, but only a true fucking master knows how to blend IN, and not be a fucking hot dog. it is a group effort... unless you can get away with doing it on your own.
Trey playing through a VOX just rocked my world!

The guitar in question (that looks like a Danelectro) on the older comments is a Silvertone.

Anyone ever been to the Bearsville studio? It is unbelievable that I have walked in the same spot Trey cut Free. Holy CRAP

What kind of guitar is trey playing Free on at :50? It's so weird and unnatural to see him playing anything other than his languedoc.
johnm14 2 years ago 2
@johnm14 looks kinda like a dane electro, not sure though

This was Albert Grossman's studio . The first album recorded here I think was The Band's "Cahoots."
