I can't even open the lid on mt tank without at least one of the Balas trying to jump out! Even my dog sits wagging her tail as I lift the tank lid, waiting for a silver wriggling 'toy' to come flying out! But seriously, I think that they're getting too big to handle now and I'm thinking of taking them back to the store so that they might go in a massive display tank. They are really beautiful fish, but boy, can they fly!!! Thanks for the comment, by the way.
when i first started my 100 gallon tank and my balas were young i dident have a lid on my tank and 1 of them jumped out wen i was sleeping and when i wok up my room smelt like dead fish ...lol
Thanks for the comment, they've grown even more now, and I have to be so careful they don't jump out when I do the part water change. Seriously, they can jump almost to the ceiling...Flying fish without the wings! One did manage to jump out a few months ago and almost ended up as wriggling dog food. She had her mouth wide open and just about to chomp, but I managed to pull her away and put the fish back in the tank! Thankfully, no injuries. Maybe some sharks for next birthday!
