Great set of videos so far, before I forget again, where did Hickory get that set of Blue "gaiters" he was wearing a video part or so ago? Looks like what I'm looking for.
just hiked up table rock, then down linville river trail. accidently went off the trail and ended up in some thick brush and dead fall. in a little creek. There was some good sized waterfalls to. Perfect weather when i went . im a big hammoker to.
Shug, I tell you that I love this video. Its the only video on Youtube where I have ever seen someone using a tarp to shelter themselves in a driving rain storm. I'm thinking about moving to a tarp system to save myself weight. Can you comment on the size of the tarp and any other observations you have about it?
Please keep in mind that I don't use a hammock. I live in Southern California and we can't count on the trees to use a hammock. Thanks bro.
Hey Shug, love the videos! I just ordered an ENO doublenest and cant wait to try it out. I always see you guys in your videos cooking and eating right at your hammock. Arent you guys every worried about bears? Backpacking "pros" always say to cook and eat away from your sleeping area.
Well .... they are not grizzleys and we kinda go based on tracks, sign and scat sightings. The gorge has bears but they are skittish there as they are hunted. I guess we would be more careful if it were more beary......
Wow, what a great armchaiir adventure, what storm. Great hike report. Thanks for taking the time to do it.
By the way. Hammock camped for the first time last week. All my hiking partners thought I was joking. They had never heard of hammock camping. Referred them to your channel to get educated.
Whoah man - I'm not sure about the revolver being so ready in the hammock. Hickory - I really think you're a bit over-sensitive on the risks of wild life. A gun? Probably very safe, and for sure the most secure solution, but what about trigger-finger, plane surprise or simple accident? Anyhow - you guys are an inspiration - thanks for the documentary!
Well this is my second video I've seen of yours and I am convinced you boys are as crazy as my brothers and I when we go out and play in the woods, except we don't sing our dialog. But hey, I tend to like that. I definitely need to get me a hammock so I can learn the tricks of suspension. Ever do any rambling in GA? Ever consider posting your GPS coordinates so we can get a general idea where you are at? Thanks for the entertainment.
Well sire ... another great episode ... I enjoyed it a lot. That Hickery is my kinda people ... gun toting morning fartin' Gorge Rat. Quality traits in my book ... and that Crow's Nest ... the fabric didn't even melt! Holy mackerl! Looking forward to more o'Shug of the Video.
I would rather sleep in a good storm anytime. Just a constant reminder of the awesome powers at work in the world, and the cleansing that comes with them. Thanks for all you share Shug, Your videos have helped me build my own hammock and tarp system for 3 season camping....now to get to work making underquilts and covers...lol
another great vid shug, i do love a good storm mate, with the thunder and the big flashes of light really can make for good laughter, oh or is that just freight lol.
Oh dude.....this is some good stuff! Lounging past 10:00 in hammocks with "Walther" and sizzling catfish at supper time. I'm sorry that you had to come back to reality. It's like leaving your Avatar body....lol.
Thanks for more great video! I really wish I was there after watching all the mayhem.
The gun doesn't bother me at all, proper handling and some common sense is all that's needed to stay safe. In fact I have found them to be multi purpose on my trips. To save weight I cut most of the handle off my toothbrush, now, I can stick the toothbrush into the barrel of my gun and brush away with a custom grip.
do ppl really sleep with their pistol down there. It is slightly unnerving to think that everyone has a gun on them. Im more like dog the bounty hunter w/ the pepper bear spary..
Nothing like a storm on a trip to make it all worth while :) We had lightning one time hit a tree and the next morning we found shards of the tree stuck up in the ground :)
