  • Man that piano is magical!

  • A country legend.

  • I am hope for the next generation, This is one of my favorite songs, I listen to Charlie, Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams SR. on an almost daily basis.... Yes I am the future, btw I am 20 yrs old

  • This is a golden classic

  • One of the few country songs I like.

  • Turned my wife and kids onto this one. Still on my short list of favorites. One of the good ole boys from the good days.

  • I would give an arm to sing like Charlie Rich

  • notice the audience napping.

  • I like this song better than Most Beautifl Girl.I saw the Silver Fox at the U of Md in 1974.What a treat that was!!!

  • Ahhhh....

    The Silver Fox.

  • If I didn't say this was hot a few years ago. I meant to!

  • A #1 hit for Charlie Rich on the Country & Western charts. It was the 259th #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. It also hit #1 on the Canadian C&W charts, and also did well on several other charts.

  • Sheer Class, and so under rated. Miss you Chas

  • Very underrated and barely talked about these days.Very sad..Classic song..

  • One of the best pure voices in country music history.

    The Silver Fox

  • VERY GOOD .

  • Loving The Silver FOX!!!!!

  • This song is so cool, I could tell so many stories about what happens behind closed doors.

  • The Silver Fox, he was so cool.

  • they just DO NOT make songs like this anymore, whatever genre.. long live Charlie Rich...

  • great writer. one of the undisputed kings of the two & 1/2 minute mega song. CR never met a great hook he didn't like. plus his voice is great. certainly rivals Elvis...both Presley and Costello

  • Love this song really brings back all thos grat memories

  • Charlie was a great talent. He died way too young though. RIP.

  • @trwent agreed

  • Ok, I need your help out there. I'm looking for a song and I can't remember the title or for that matter the artist. I heard it back in 1988 July. It goes something like this " I TURNED AROUND AND YOU WERE GONE"( IT'S OVER) ( IT'S OOOOOVER). Somebody must of heard this lyrics, its a love song maybe? Thanks for yer help. Happy Trails.

  • @joaquinmurrieta1850 Elvis sings a song called "It's over" This song is posted on youtube.

  • @califgirl11 . Thanks. I did listen to it but it's not it.

  • @joaquinmurrieta1850

Could it be "Ask him to" by Mark Owen?

  • @bekawchak . I just lstened to it and again it's the wrong song. Thanks anyway. It has to be an older artist say around the 1980's. More of the Charlie Rich voice type of guy. This memory has been kicking my ass for 23 years now. There is web site you can hum part of the song by I just don't have means. Thanks again

  • I think Ronnie Milsap Sings this better

  • This is NOT one of Charlie Rich's better performances.

  • the best song..I would play this record over and over...my first love was with this song..12 years old and we were madly in love...great mem.

  • i wish i rich as charlie and had his pride

  • The Silver Fox - great song, great singer

  • The heaviest of the heaviest!!!

  • This is the Silver Fox. 1932 - 1995 Thank you, Sir.

  • This is the first passionate, romantic song that touched my ears......and is still a great turn on to hear.

  • The chorus is fresh and alive. What a nice song

  • 20 people obviously don't know what goes on behind closed doors....

  • Charlie Rich was on every Jukebox in the country in the 70's because of this song..... He was the BOMB back in the day .....RIP Charlie

  • I was in my early teens when this was out. I sure miss this

generation of country music. Today it doesn't have the same

soul like other music of today and none of adds up to the music

played in the 70s including country music. Those were the good

    ole days too!

    methodistgirl

  • One of my Dad's favorite songs!! miss u Dad...

  • great song

  • I'm 18 years old, and this is my first time hearing Charlie Rich. He is pretty good. Everyday I'm expanding my musical interests.

  • So, that is cool. My sister had a huge crush on Tom Jones in the early 70s...those were the good days...gas was cheap ( other than that strike they had ), the country was safe, people were nice...no crap like we have today...Drive-thru's at McDonalds, Cell Phones, computers!!! Have made us lazy-hazy....Remember when you use to have to search for stuff in the encyclopedia? I bet you young-ins don't. Now we have Doppler Radar, They predicted the weather back in the 70s alot better than now.

  • I also was a child in the 70s and my dad had a recored of this song, i loved to listen to it with him

  • So my boy friend asked me to look up a song and he said this name and I said i know this son and he said i was too young to know this song

  • No one knows what goes on behind closed doors...... I think I have a pretty good idea ;)

  • Absolutely awesome. I wish I could have seen him in person. Loved this man's music. RIP Charlie.

  • 19 people had their fingers slammed in the door frame... Ooouch !!!!

  • Brilliant song. What a voice.

So nice and old school in its simplicity and beauty. So much more classy than sexy.

"And then she makes me glad that I'm a man" Great line that captures exactly what it is like to love and be loved by a truely great woman.

  • He's so smooth!

  • This and the most bueatiful girl on the flip side was truly great songs.I liked Charlie Rich

  • Charlie Rich was one of the greatest! Along with all of the other great country artist. FROM 1950s to 80s.

  • DON'T REALLY LIKE COUNTRY MUSIC AS A GENRE',but I LOVE Charlie Rich . .what a GREAT GREAT voice and feeling into this music and if you are in love with someone . this will stay in your mind . . GREAT masculine voice !!

  • What an entertainer!

  • WONDER HOW MANY OF U WERE MADE TO THIS SONG? LOL

  • is he still alive

  • @TheCosmodude He died July 1995.....I believe it was the 25th.

  • Charlie Rich burned the award announcement of John Denver winning Best New Artist in 1975 on stage after he presented it...he felt Denver's music was not like the old school sound...he was a loose cannon.

  • @jaleach, AWESOME, and soooo true!

  • I think now 18 should go behind closed doors!

  • reminds me of my mother and father ~ rest in peace mom and dad

  • There will another Silver Fox.

  • Your so right the man was an inspiration to us all a true Genius made my life a lot better thank you Charlie

  • GREAT piano player and singer/songwriter, an amazing talent.

  • Bravo Charlie Rich! Countrypolitan at its zenith!

  • yes i agree with that he was just fantasic hey

  • Perry & Gaga have fun music aswell but this comes from the heart so it's more emotional and Awesome to listen to

  • one of the best willie nelson songs ever. Thanks for uploading.

  • @XYtruck25, Nope mate!

"Behind Closed Doors" is a country song written by Kenny O'Dell and first recorded by Charlie Rich for his 1973 album Behind Closed Doors.

  • @XYtruck25 Thats not Willie Nelson .

  • Yes ! this IS music. Good music. Good voice. Good lyrics. All from a time when there was good taste in the land.....

  • Old Charlie could drink with the best of 'em. I saw him in 1977 in Nashville on Printer's Alley and he was lit up. So was I. He was real nice, though.

  • now this is what i call music

  • @tamerswan hes talkin bout his favorite groupee, not his wife.... thats y no public affection as you say..

  • please stop talking about god! that´s bullshit. talk about the flying spaghetti monster.

  • mymom was a serious fan remember him vividly love behind closed doors and did you happen to see the most beautiful girl blessed memories thank you

  • Don't remember him ever doing a bad song.............so many could learn from him.

    R.I.P. Charlie......Gone but not forgotten.

  • @swayzefan62 when did he die

  • The "Silver Fox" did it again. Such a beautiful song. They don't write or sing 'em like that anymore. This has soul and guts. Most ( not all ) of today's country music is just fluff.

  • they don't make music like this anymore.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM !

  • What's wrong with showing public affection?

1.We are not evolved enough for all to come to the same conclusion of what is socially acceptable.

    Now pay attention...

2.Humans will only act as civilized as they actually are (which, if you think about it, is really not that much) and in most cases (I'll go ahead and say it) especially men, would not choose civility over sexual stimulation.

Understand that the above two points remain flexible according to one's location. wink wink

  • EXCELLENT SING OF CHARLIE RICH !

    *****STARS

    Thank you for the upload

  • If you like Charlie Rich check out "Just A Little Bit Sweet" by Charlie. I think it was his first hit. Someway it got forgot about and most people don't even know about it. I think you'll be impressed.

  • 12 people should be taken behind closed doors...and left there.

  • @jaleach123 19 lol

  • @jaleach123 Make that 19 people, ha ha!

  • @jaleach123 Add another 9 bozos to the 12.

  • this is me and my girlfriend's "dirty" love song! LOL! that's what we call it.........don't know why.............we aren't dirty!!!!!! I still love her, though!

  • It's weird how country traded in manly voices for faggot voices. (not gay people) Not saying they're gay, not that there is anything even wrong with being gay. But country music has been overrun by faggots. Well atleast it's been corrupted by money hungry pop music faggots. Sorry, that word just comes to mind when I get extremely angry and tearful when I think of how good country music once was and how shitty the mainstream now is. God Bless Independent artists.

  • @wheelmanstan And Satanist!

  • @gahloot exactly

    vigilantcitizen dotcom

  • I had myself a summer romance, with a man who had green eyes, the laid back "older man" demeanor of Charlie Rich, and when we got behind closed doors...

  • love it so much thanks for sharing

  • Why has he got a load of giant ironing boards?

  • One of the old time greats love you Charlie,RIP.

  • I was a little kid back in the 70s when these songs were popular. My grandfather looked very much like Charlie Rich - same hair and other physical features. He even sounded like him when talked. When I saw Charlie on TV I honestly thought that was my grandpa singing on television. Nice memories.

  • @nev594 Cool! I myself was just a kid in the 70's. My father really liked Charlie Rich and of course this was his favorite song. And I really enjoyed listening to Charlie Rich myself. OH I would have really enjoyed meeting your grandfather. I suppose your Grandfather has passed away by now. I so maybe through this you can always have those great Memories.

  • Where is the talent like this today ? Good song and singer

  • Charlie Rich was an amazing musical influence on my life when I was a child. SO glad to see other fans here! hey just so you know he made another CD way after this in the 1990's before his death his career had a huge push and he was on a roll back into stardom! Sadly then he died!! Pictures and Paintings is the name of the CDI hope this will show in here from Pandora you can sample it and read further of this mans career who always seemed to get eclipsed pandora.com/music/artist/charlie+rich

  • let me tell you a great story:

I opened a store called "Behind CLosed Doors"

    and it did very well.

    thank you

Charlie Rich no one loves this song more then me....................

cause no one knows what goes on behing closed doors!!!!!

  • As a little orphan girl - i used this song as motivation to get a job in a sugar factory by the time i was 11. Today I'm broke and have 7 cats but this music makes be feel good again.

  • Great song , enjoyable

  • I don't know what made me think of this song but I love it. I didn't know he had passed. RIP. Such a meaningful song.

  • Pay attention Katy Perry, Justin Beiber & Lady Gaga: this is REAL music. You 3 just make crap!!!

  • @jimdcarter PLEASE LORD, Please take Katy Perry, Justin Beiber and Gaga and give us back Charlie Rich !!!

  • @mlarson44

Yes... this was real music... Amazing.

  • @mlarson44 Why on earth, or in heaven, would God want to do that? Last I heard, Katy Perry, Justin Beiber, and Lady Gaga (and their fans) were his children too. The Lord blessed us with the ability to experience joy and love through music. Charlie had a beautiful voice. But so do many other musicians. With all the suffering in this world, lets try not to forget our gratitude to the Lord for all the music He has given for all of us.

  • @mlarson44 Its a shame what they call music now days. As if the pop music isnt bad enough, the cross over country just sucks

  • @mlarson44 In The Country Music scene today, are their equivalents to Perry, Gaga, and Bieber?I want to know.

  • Ecspecially the Lady Gaga part.... whoever said she has talent needs to be put to sleep....

  • @Frothydog Seriously, you need to actually listen to her and it's quite easy to see she not only has talent, she has it in spades. Listen to her unplugged with a piano and tell me she doesn't have talent.

  • @jimdcarter

    I totally agree with you
