no you have to aspirate at all times. wat if you inject the med in a vessel? that would be an I.V & your not supposed to do an I.V
aspirating allows you kno if ur in a vessel so when u aspirate and blood comes into the barrel then your suppose to takeout the needle... an RNnever used to aspirate but the instructer made her and when she did blood got in the barrel and ever since then she always aspirated for caution..its a small chance yu put it in a vessel, but its a chance u dont wana make
@sincitybby20 I have to disagree. I am working on my ADN right now, third semester and was taught to only aspirtate w/ IM's...its not neccesary w/ Subq
@caitywood386 If you hit a vein and dont aspirate there could be serious comlications. I guess everyone has there own opinions. I always aspirate except on intradermal

I agree with sincityboy too! If you don't aspirate you can get a vessel! The only one you don't need to are for such as TBs
