how much is a roll or rolls of these vacuum bags and other sponges used in the sandwich process.. just curious... i can over lay fiber on cool dash parts and basic car lips... but i wanna start making serious molds and possibly bake them as well... any advice? on orders of what to do and what not to do... as a diy guy
I would like to make a functional custom hood [not scoop, the whole hood] for an 07 dodge charger. My plan is to buy a scoop and temporarily attach it to my stock hood with 2 sided tape. I will use it as a base to make a rough plug. From there I am guessing on how to make a mold and then the actual hood. Please Help with a video showing everything and I do mean everything. I am a complete beginner here. Thanks
@shkssj88 there shouldnt be any pinholes in the surface with resin infusion. btw, why are you clear coating it? the surface should be smooth and flat. change epoxies to one with uv stabilizers if your afraid of that.
vacuum infusion is the way forward, its a lot easier and cleaner than bagging up a wet lay up, if you need any advise contact aerovac systems or richmond aircraft products and they will sort you out
good video but doesn't the loss of vacuum mean you don't necessarily get a minimum of epoxy? seems to me this way is worse than first wetting and then vacuum bagging
I had problems around the edges doing this, but then again we were doing a 50 boat hull. We used clear gel coat to see what it looked like after it was pulled from the mold, not very good!!!
your videos suck.

I have been researching vacuum infusion, are there any starter kits you guys suggest for me to get first or should I piece one together?

Where did you get the vacuum pump from? Are they pricey?

does this make it dry carbon fiber after doing this? or is it still wet carbon fiber?
dj7310 2 years ago
wet because the resin is applied physical as opposed to being impregnated in the fabric
kineticartz 2 years ago
@dj7310 it turns out dry...

Yeah, door panels look real good with plastic bags stuck to them.
Duh!
I didn't know Daleks were so good at infusion....

same here got some bad parts tryed to get my money back and they fucked me so then i got my parts from topshop.
jramsoil 4 years ago 2
yes the infusion creates stronger parts due to the fact you use less resin and you creates no voids

thanks for giving us a little insight to how parts are made from composites.this infusion process gives better parts?
