The Catholic Church has made errors. The Catholic Church refuses to treat someone based on their WORST POSSIBLE DECISION. This is also why the Catholic Church does not support the death penalty.

What VOTF considers "RIGHT" is to oust people based on poor decisions, based on the worst decision they ever made. IMAGINE IF YOU WERE JUDGED ON YOUR WORST DECISION.  Shaking in your boots yet?

In no way does this protect or justify the awful acts. However, it speaks to the treatment of those acts.

Basically, Voice of the Faithful/SNAP want control over Church finance. Did anyone hear about that situation in CT? A bill was proposed to control Church finances. These groups are scary. They echo the days of the French Revolution and Communist takeover.

No. What is needed is a renewal in the Church. Purification and most certainly in liturgy and formation of our priests. Priests need to be real men not wimpy or effeminate and certainly not passive. Suggestion to Catholics: Cooperation with one another is essential on my idea. Immediately cease any and all monetary contributions and volunteer work done on the behalf of your church until Ratzinger takes the appropriate action. Cease any all purchases of religious materials from your church. This is probably the only way to prod Ratzinger into action. After all, a beaurocrasy can not function without money.

Well that wouldnt be right, see the money we donate like maybe 4-5 dollars a person, is used to help the poor, pay medical expenses of the priests and nuns, pay for their food, and it is used in keeping the church with maintenance assistants. I mean Ratzinger has done alot to condemn those who commit such a evil sin as some priest have, but I would think maybe letters or something else will work just as well.

If you seriously think that the money in the plate is used "for the poor", you are misled. There is more then ample evidence that parishes are black holes for money, and that many pastors steal. The priests live very cushy lives - better then most ppl.

When I see a priest simply randomly handing out cash to the poor who need it, then & only then will I believe that "the money goes to the poor". Most church run charitable corp. are fraudulent; just for show.

Well the church I go to the priest does not make that much, maybe your thinking of a pastor or a reverand or something. I mean the average catholic priest makes only 6000 to 7000 dollars a year. The priest were I go to church relies on other people charity so that he can buy presents for kids at christmas so and alot of the priest I see live in one room cell or apartments.. they do not have jets or millions of dollars just lying around for them to use on themselves.

I was referring to Catholic priests. In fairness, not literally everyone is guilty of such excess, but.......

In most dioceses they make an average of $15K a year, plus a car allowance, full medical/dental, pension. They live with free food, utilities, office facilities, secretarial services,and often a cook/maid. In most parts of the US, that makes him equilvalent to a $50K+ income. This does not count mass stipends or gifts.......in cash.
