  • also there is a video on here of someone ripping a cd to a car pc ,a car pc using a factory nav for the monitor ,one with a cd player behind the screen,so how did he get the factory nav headunits cd player connected to the pc so he could use the factory navs cd player to rip cd's to his pc?and have it used a monitor,i doubt the poeple using the factory nav as an auto pc monitor are connecting it with a composite connection,it would need a dvi or vga atleast for a decent resolution

  • do they make these for e46 model bmws? and why cany you get sound throught the cable? i have ipod dock connector cables the have audio and video out,so is there just no audio inpuat the back of the nav?does it use an aux connection, wouldnt there be sound on an aux connection?im really looking for some way to connect a car pc to the factory nav screen, but not with a composite video connection, but something more high res like dvi or vga

  • Interessant

  • how can i do this help please ?

  • @FlyPanda818 you can get all the components to do this at

    hid-solutions(dot)com

  • but from where did u get the ipod connector for the x5, i always wanted to connect it to mine, i have the same navi system as yours, same ipod :( ALL I NEED IS THE WIRE :(

  • So i really want to do this setup. i'm socal as well... what would something like this run me if i had you do it? or better yet where can i get these parts? I looked for them all over but came up with nothing. Thanks.

  • I sell these parts, a/v input is about $350, ipod interface is about $50, misc wiring, switches, and connectors run about $20

  • Do you do installs on these? If so where are you located? Good video, thanks!

  • I can install these, I am in Southern California

  • I'm on my search for an e39 M5. Once I find the right one I'll be in touch. I live in Vegas so not too far away. Thanks!

  • How do you get nav screen to swap to the aux video (for the ipod) when you change to the Tape mode? Is this using a trigger voltage signal? From where?

Also, have you considered using a snap-in adapter for an iphone? Do you know if you can you get one for an ipod touch or iphone that utilizes the audio and video pins??

  • The audio is inputted on the tape channel, as the tape audio is disabled. Currently the iphone and itouch pinouts don't match the ipod video so they are not compatible at the moment.

  • Were can i get the pie interface?

  • Genial!

  • i cant put wide screen vids on my ipod 5g video

  • Very nice. I like it!! Hats off for you bgdsub72. I have an e39 with dvd computer & 16:9 screen. You think you can hook me up with the list of parts & maybe instructions how & where to cut the input cable for the tape deck? I'll appreciate any help/info. Thanks

  • Hi...I have BMW 730d from 2005...can you tell me what i mast have and what to do, that i have video on bmw screen from ipod??

  • Can i put one of these satnav systems in a e38? i live in the uk so could you email me details of how to do this and where to buy this gear from?

  • Love the set up working on doing this in my E39. What was the video interface you used to connect up your ipod? Nav TV, Nav tool? and can you can control the video input with the ibus? And how did you get the stereo sound to come through instead of mono? Thanks so much for the help Lee

  • video interface is made by PIE, ipod is connected using PIE's video ipod interface. Video input is not going through ibus, and the stereo audio is inputted on the tape channel. I cut the tape deck stereo input wires to the amp and spliced in RCA connectors then tapped in my ipod interface to that channel. Doing so gives me ipod audio in stereo and not mono
