I just finished watching the movie for the first time! I didn't know Gerard was the phantom and I was always thinking..ooh he's so cuuute....then later on in the film I started hearing a bit of a ...scottish? accent then I finally realized it was him haha. I've always seen Gerard in a lot of movies and never really felt anything for him...but after this movie...I think I'm in love with Gerard, or I think mostly just his character :P

I've seen the Broadway show and some movie adaptations notably the 1925 one with Lon Chaney and Gerard just didn't have Chaney's pitiful and creepy portrayal or Michael Crawford's voice. Casting a good looking man with no singing experience for a role as deep as The Phantom seemed a bit off. I'm not saying the movie was that bad, but I don't think it was great either. It's not bad though.

I totally forgive the phantom...he has such tender moments in the movie that you can see that he's human and searching for love and companionship but he doesn't trust the world to give him want he wants...so he decides to take it by force any which way necessary.
