My grandfather was lucky enough to fly with Doolittle over the Burma Hump, and to the end he had nothing but the utmost respect for that man, probably more than anyone else he had served with during the war.
the president of the Hennessy Company gave Doolittle a bottle of Very Special cognac, vintage 1896, the year of Doolittles birth. Doolittle, in turn, donated the cognac to the goblet collection with the stipulation that the last two surviving Raiders would open it to drink a final toast to their departed comrades.
Met Gen. John and daughter, spoke to them about all that cussing in the movie 'Pearl Harbor' they all tried to get it changed, no avail. Gen D cussed but only when it was really appropriate and not in mixed company, saw it as a sign of low IQ
Reading CV Glines book now, autographed by him and four Raiders.
The video is very good. Thank you for posting it. The accompanying text is such arrant BS that I am surprised anyone smart enough to operate a computer could believe this total nonsense.
"Ruptured Duck" was Capt Ted Lawson's plane #7 off Hornet. He wrote "30 Seconds Over Tokyo" a factual movie, every word Doolittle (Spencer Tracy ) speaks in movie is real.
Only error is "71 of 80 returned" of 8 captured 3 were executed and one murdered in prison by stravation, three others died on crash landing or bailing out
Attended the 66th Raider Reunion last weekend,
Mrs. Doolittle and Raiders said Jimmy never swore in public, considered it a sign of low IQ
But have to correct you//was 68 that returned//Yes eight were captured// 3 executed/
Did you meet Doolittles son Retired 4 star Gen John Doolittle// Had a great one on one with him about his father// Will never forget that conversation// or the event//
In the 80s I was walking through the Anatole Hotel and saw a sign "Doolittle Dinner" went in, paid the $100 and had a great time, have picture with Gen. Doolittle signing my invitation, dark suit at a black tie affair but I would never miss it.
Admiral Halsey notified me,
He had to have a berth or he couldn't get to sea.
I had another look and I had a cup of tea and butter pie.
(Butter Pie? )(The Butter wouldn't melt so I put it in the pie.)

They burned Tokyo to the ground. Isn't that something to be proud of.
