I would recommned the 3G. It's not slower than the original iPhone and 3G speed is a lot faster than Edge (I'm still using Edge). Also, the orginal iPhone can not run the iPhone OS 4.0, but the 3G can do the update except multi-tasking.

Btw, why did the original iPhone come out with Edge when other phones had 3G at that point? When I put my sim in 3G phones, it runs 3G. Meaning my sim has the capabilities, but the iPhone doesn't. Why would Apple release a revolutionary phone with Edge? Lol.

2G and 3G are the same in terms of preocessor. In this video the two are running different software. 3gs has much better HARDWARE, faster cpu, more ram

theres no point watching a comparison video.

If you really wanted to see then you could just look at a 3g vs 3gs video, as it would be the same thing as watching a 2g vs 3gs video, minus web browsing

I have a 3GS, and it is like the 3G except it also provides voice control, a compass, 3 megapixel camera (up from 2 on the 3G and 1 on the original), much more memory (16GB up from 8GB), and a much faster operating system.

I have both phones & currently still using my first gen iPhone...only thing I will say is the "white screen of death" never had to me on the first gen & it happened on the 3G after a couple of months & it wasn't overheated, didn't drop nor came into contact w/ water, so I choose the original hands down which has fallen so many times & still works like a charm

This comparison really sucks. First off, you didn't even tell us which was which 'till halfway through. Second, you said the 3G was a tad slower because of 2.0, but both have 2.0 installed since they both have apps. There are also more applications on the 3G, which could slow the phone. You also used different movies in the ipod speed test, which should be the same if you want the test to be accurate.

You're definitely right about that, but what a lot of people don't understand is that the iPhone is basically a pocket computer. My old LG cell phone would last almost 2 days; my iPhone lasts only about 1 day. However, the power and features of my iPhone doesn't even compare to my LG enV. My iPhone is pretty good with battery, but that's more to do with my actions: if I know I'm not going to use it for a little bit, I'll just hook it up to my charger -- I'll tweak settings based on what Im doin.

well the 2.2 and now the 3.0 upgrade makes the iphone 3g much faster. so in no way is the iphone 3g inferior to the old ass 1g. In terms of iPhone 3G S, its just a waste of money. There was a lot of difference between 2G and 3G iphone, but not much between 3G and 3G S
