Since when did computer games own 100% of the software market?
With apples software you don't have to buy a new copy of that software. Like iPhoto, iMovie and such. And face it.... window's media tools are soo bad everyone uses third party applications which then again exists on the mac aswell. But mac users doesn't really need all those 3rd party applications due to the stock software already being enough. So the top rated comment haven't really understand how mac's or apple really works.
i have an alienware with 32gb of ram and over 5.00 ghz with overclocking! i have a 1080p 18 inch sceen! its the alienware m18x! it poos all over any mac! and it is proven to be the best gaming computer there is!
well, macs have apps such as iPhoto and Aperture, vs. Windows Photo Gallery/Microsoft Office Picture Manager, The Mac also uses "Anti Aliased" rendering, it's much more pleasing, and feels much more complete.
os x is so muc better than windows. i had 3 laptops in my whole life(im 17...) that have windows and they all get very fucking slow in about a month or 2. i only use it for web surfing and homework -.- but now im getting a mac for x-mas nd im so pumped!

Uh... the reason a picture might look "better" on a mac vs pc (and it depends on the app.. not the os) is because of better color correction on the application you are using... if its a different monitor then the asker is a dumbass... also the settings for the video card will be different even if you are using the same monitor...
osx automatically wins because it sits on unix. dont give me any linux crap, linux is only a 'flavour' of unix. + it doesnt look as half as good as osx.

@glennlopez It is possible to make images on Windows 7 looks identical to OS X, but one has to mess with colour profiles to achieve that. Since Mac already comes preinstalled with OS X, its colour profiles are tweaked already. Of course, this is not true when installing Windows on a Mac (since it just applies default settings).
the mac has a different rendering engine which is far better to windows. also i am leaving windows for a mac in two weeks because of vista. p.s. windows your gonna loose if you dont make better products and windows 7 i had many of the same issues but my fax software was running so...

i'v a macbook pro 15" n i've been using both mac os x (snow leopard) and windows 7 for quite a long time now...window 7 is a sweent operating system but it still lags smthing... where as mac os x seems much more sophisticated n user friendly...

That is a pretty ridiculous statement coming from him as someone who used Windows for most of his life. 80% of the shareware, gaming, and productivity market is Windows only - and yes there are a lot of great" applications available. I wonder how much Apple is paying him to make those erroneous statements.

If your talking about nice to look at, my pc is as nice to look at as any mac. I set it up for gaming and it has better docks and 3D stuff than any mac I've ever seen. Mac users talk a lot of crap.... If you recall they are the ones that a pushing the war... Why? to make money, the goal is not to let any one to have any control over software and hardware but mac. They are money hogs, and as you may recall years ago ever school had all apple computers the schools replaced them all with PC.
The truth is I've been seeing a pattern with MAC user, in fact I'm find that most MAC users are kids, or teens. I have had Vista on my PC for three year I think and it has shown one sign of having any "malicious files" or "trojan" , and unlike you I know how computers work, and I know how to take care of them with out call a help line.

MAC still can't do a lot of the things PC's can do, and still can't use a lot of the AWESOME software made for PCs, That being said the MAC OS is made specifically to be user friendly to people who need a simpler interface, and basically do less with their computer. Mac is filling the comple-XP-ity gap that windows refuses to comply to. as far as viruses and trojans go, its a matter of time. You may not be afraid of viruses now, but you will be......you will be....yoda
- Apple stripped down Mac OS X to give just the bare programs. Mac cost so much because it comes with a lot of programs. If I had Mac, I would only need Safari, iTunes, and iWorks, or whatever they call it now.
AMD used to be really good, but they just aren't that good compared to intel (times have changed). Snow Leopard is going to have a much smaller (I think 4gb less) footprint than Leopard. If you have ever gotten a new Mac you will know that it comes with only applications and no bloatware which is very annoying to get off as I'm sure you know. I say go for it.
But.....AMD is so much more cost effective. Apple needs to cut prices. I barely like to pay a good $500 for a computer, let alone a Mac that has similar hardware to a cheap PC, but costs $500 more.
I like Mac OS. It is easy to and very appealing, but you cannot due much to it. No tweaking, no playing with hardware (well sort of, but very limited), no going into stuff you shouldn't be in and changing settings!!!
It is too much money. Nothing against Intel. But AMD is more bang for the buck.
Oh and I know all of the Mac programs are for real. You get really good stuff with it, but they are not freebies at all. You pay really good money for them. The problem is, 85% of the world uses computers for email and word processing/spreadsheet creating.
If they made like a Mac OS Xe (e = economical), took out a bunch of programs that are not critical, and maybe stripped down some of the more techy features. Mac OS Xe = Leopard + iWorks + iTunes + Safari + Time Machine.
Valid arguments indeed. They are more expensive, but as the old saying goes "You get what you pay for." It would be a great idea and they would probably make a killing if they did what you said, sold stripped down versions of OS X and sold an affordable (under say $600) laptop with Mac on it.
This will probably never happen though because their whole purpose is to provide high quality machines (for high prices).
Actually i wouldn't mind paying a good $600-$700 for a Mac Book Pro with a stripped down Mac OSX, but as you say. Macs are cool, but Apple is too a cool or perfect (don't flame me, just a fact) to anything subpar than perfection!
If you want to be cheap, go buy a $400 PC and boot Mac OS on it, although that is not exactly legal
Another stupid argument. You can run Parallels Desktop and boot any OS you want, yet you cannot boot Mac from a PC. Apple should't sell OEMs to Dell, but to people.
Mac and Pc are uncompareable. PC is the king of the market. mac is in second place and will always be, they even had to start using pc hardware. Please take in mind Windows 7 is coming out soon which is a great OS system. everything a mac can do a pc can do ... faster! depending on your hardware.
YES! Mac is the way to go if you're working with any kind of graphics. Sure I think both systems have the capablilites but mac os supports things like color profile switching, advanced font options, general color managment right out of the box, while on Windows you need 3rd Party apps to see how your png will look on different Platforms.
Your workflow with graphics is just much faster on a mac.
huh?? what.. my friends just bought 3x apple macbook it took them 2 days to load all the applications on it because it was so complicated that includes something so simple to install "Photoshop". i built my pc it took me 3 hours to build and install windows and install my applications and it does everything you mention above.. Apple macs are for stupid people who dont know much about computers overall. And the question about why do my photos look better on my mac than on a pc that proves it!

Personally, just the way the programs run in OS X because of the platform runs circles around those running on Windows. Simply comparing the open source GIMP program from Windows to OS X (Something I personally use all the time on both platforms) really shows the functionality and beauty of OS X, specifically with media and graphic related applications.
There is no difference between the two given the same video card and monitor. Of course this is assuming the card and the monitor has been properly calibrated for each OS.
Windows/Mac does NOT 'render' your images. Your photosoftware does it. Same for text, etc...
Just look at the difference between MS Office and Open Office with presentations. The antialising of OO is rubbish. Getting better, but still rubbish.
You forgot the potential difference you might see between DVI and analog VGA. DVI is a lot sharper and better contrast. Also consider if you have a professional graphics app installed on one platform and not on the other; there may be some pro color correction going on in the background that you're not aware of.
To see an actual platform difference, notice how good an AVI can look in WMPlayer VS how bad played back in Quicktime on either machine. QT purposefully makes AVI look like crap.
personally i prefer os x but not for what u might think. i like da feel of iphoto vs windows normal photo software (forget the name but it comes with xp)but i c they both look the same when used on my macbook.
themes can affect pics too. if u use 1000's of colors vs millions, if u use 800 by 600 vs 1280 by 760 and so on. it also matters the screen's coating. glossy vs normal. know if u compare lets say xp vs the osx release of that period, with the same themes color schemes monitor and same amount of ram and so on, then that is a fair fight. specially if u use software native to each system and not like something that works for windows me and xp or panther and tiger. in other words, fight equally.
osx and most linux distros do have higher quality post production integrated into the OS for pictures but even more for videos. However, this has to do more with the software that is displaying the pictures over the OS software but clear examples are obvious with programs like VLC which displays higher quality on OSX than windows for videos. However, most of it has to do with opinion. Some people like the way a looks over b and vice versa.
Text rendering is far far better in the mac. Even in Windows, I tend to use safari cos the text looks much better (even than what you get by enabling cleartype in xp)
Windows is more prone to get viruses then macs do. The thing about microsoft is that they wait to long to release there patches to fix these problems.Macs os is more stable than vista and vista is a rip off of leopard ant they couldn't get that right. Vista will never be better than leopard. In an interview even Bill Gates said that vista didn't come out the way they wanted. and thats why most people are downgrading to XP but you dont see mac users downgrading back to tiger.

Yes stability issues with windows. I do powerpoint presentations using a windows pc and last week doing a presentation in from of 55 people the system locked up 3 times and i had to restart the whole system because it didnt want to close the program i was using. That doesn't happen on a mac If a program stops responding it doesn't affect anything else on the mac i just have to close the program and relaunch it again not like in windows, where you have to restart your machine.

Probably the best thing that could possibly happen to Mac users is for some really well written worm to be released into the wild to completely own millions of OS X systems. Leopard is good, but Windows Vista works better with my digital stuff, for example: photos - I definitely prefer elaborating them on Vista than iMac, (on both of them I have Photoshop cs3), Vista's pc does provide better realistic colours;p
Both OS's are looking great, Aero and Aqua provide me good feelings, and making work easier/lever.
Besides look at Leopard's number of security patches... much more than Vista's,and much bigger... Mac OS X was safer in the past... the boot is on the other foot, now Windows lead in security...
ah so that explains the soaring number of customers downgrading to XP then does it? you can't possibly be serious in saying that vista is more stable/safer than osx. leopard has had one major patch that was a few hundred MB but fixed most issues.

it's true. my work PC has vista and i can't stand it. there're quite a few faults (print spooler to name the biggest culprit). I've been badgering Dell for an XP downgrade disk.

IBM manufactured the macs processors before they moved to Intel because they theirs ran cooler. They used UNIX because they wanted to use a stable kernel (darwin) when they were designing OSX.
As for Macs being a 'toy computer for kids', In my mind that's their greatest asset -- they are so ergonomic and tactile that you need no previous knowledge to get them working out of the box. Macs are tools designed from the ground up for a job, and as such they rule.
I have tried both Windows and OS X, and I have to say, OS X is worlds apart from Windows. OS X has many advanced features accessible almost anywhere, which helps work flow and precision. Windows doesn't come close to OS X

Just make sure to "Save For The Web" in Photoshop or similar image editing programs under A Mac so that the end product won't look darker than it really is when viewed with a PC. I prefer Macintosh and have been on the Mac side of the computer fence for nearly 14 years. I like the PC for a few things, but can do all I need with my trusty Mac Mini.

nope. The Mac OS has always been better at managing the screen display, colours, and such stuff. ColorSync also allows to have a good correlation of the colours between printers, screens, and scanners.

i have my mac partitioned into the mac partition and windows the windows partition. So its the same hardware. Truly, the images look better on the mac partition and the mac partition runs better
ATI has much more mature drivers for mac than nvidia. pc dont have final cut studio. we have boot camp and can run ALL win apps. pc users aint ever getting final cut studio.
i would thing adobe software used to works best on mac but with the intel mac wont make any diff uless windows is still as bad as it was. Go linux ! :P
i have been using a mac since os 7.2 , and even have over time done some "free" tech help for my local windows users that have errors and glitches, from win 95 thru win vista, so if i, a mac user can do things and fix windows machines, then windows users can use macs with ease, especially when the next os comes out in late october, [[ thanks for the vids chris ]] i watch you some times live on the dot tv streams

Uh... the reason a picture might look "better" on a mac vs pc (and it depends on the app.. not the os) is because of better color correction on the application you are using... if its a different monitor then the asker is a dumbass... also the settings for the video card will be different even if you are using the same monitor...

@glennlopez It is possible to make images on Windows 7 looks identical to OS X, but one has to mess with colour profiles to achieve that. Since Mac already comes preinstalled with OS X, its colour profiles are tweaked already. Of course, this is not true when installing Windows on a Mac (since it just applies default settings).

That is a pretty ridiculous statement coming from him as someone who used Windows for most of his life. 80% of the shareware, gaming, and productivity market is Windows only - and yes there are a lot of great" applications available. If your talking about nice to look at, my pc is as nice to look at as any mac. I set it up for gaming and it has better docks and 3D stuff than any mac I've ever seen. MAC still can't do a lot of the things PC's can do, and still can't use a lot of the AWESOME software made for PCs, That being said the MAC OS is made specifically to be user friendly to people who need a simpler interface, and basically do less with their computer. Mac is filling the comple-XP-ity gap that windows refuses to comply to. as far as viruses and trojans go, its a matter of time. - Apple used AMD
- Apple stripped down Mac OS X to give just the bare programs. Mac cost so much because it comes with a lot of programs. If I had Mac, I would only need Safari, iTunes, and iWorks, or whatever they call it now.

AMD used to be really good, but they just aren't that good compared to intel (times have changed). Snow Leopard is going to have a much smaller (I think 4gb less) footprint than Leopard. If you have ever gotten a new Mac you will know that it comes with only applications and no bloatware which is very annoying to get off as I'm sure you know. I say go for it.

I like Mac OS. It is easy to and very appealing, but you cannot due much to it. No tweaking, no playing with hardware (well sort of, but very limited), no going into stuff you shouldn't be in and changing settings!!!
It is too much money. Nothing against Intel. But AMD is more bang for the buck.

Oh and I know all of the Mac programs are for real. You get really good stuff with it, but they are not freebies at all. You pay really good money for them. The problem is, 85% of the world uses computers for email and word processing/spreadsheet creating.
If they made like a Mac OS Xe (e = economical), took out a bunch of programs that are not critical, and maybe stripped down some of the more techy features. Mac OS Xe = Leopard + iWorks + iTunes + Safari + Time Machine.

Valid arguments indeed. They are more expensive, but as the old saying goes "You get what you pay for." It would be a great idea and they would probably make a killing if they did what you said, sold stripped down versions of OS X and sold an affordable (under say $600) laptop with Mac on it.
This will probably never happen though because their whole purpose is to provide high quality machines (for high prices).

Actually i wouldn't mind paying a good $600-$700 for a Mac Book Pro with a stripped down Mac OSX, but as you say. Macs are cool, but Apple is too a cool or perfect (don't flame me, just a fact) to anything subpar than perfection!
If you want to be cheap, go buy a $400 PC and boot Mac OS on it, although that is not exactly legal

YES! Mac is the way to go if you're working with any kind of graphics. Sure I think both systems have the capablilites but mac os supports things like color profile switching, advanced font options, general color managment right out of the box, while on Windows you need 3rd Party apps to see how your png will look on different Platforms.
Your workflow with graphics is just much faster on a mac.

huh?? what.. my friends just bought 3x apple macbook it took them 2 days to load all the applications on it because it was so complicated that includes something so simple to install "Photoshop". i built my pc it took me 3 hours to build and install windows and install my applications and it does everything you mention above.. Apple macs are for stupid people who dont know much about computers overall. And the question about why do my photos look better on my mac than on a pc that proves it!

Personally, just the way the programs run in OS X because of the platform runs circles around those running on Windows. Simply comparing the open source GIMP program from Windows to OS X (Something I personally use all the time on both platforms) really shows the functionality and beauty of OS X, specifically with media and graphic related applications.

You forgot the potential difference you might see between DVI and analog VGA. DVI is a lot sharper and better contrast. Also consider if you have a professional graphics app installed on one platform and not on the other; there may be some pro color correction going on in the background that you're not aware of.
To see an actual platform difference, notice how good an AVI can look in WMPlayer VS how bad played back in Quicktime on either machine. QT purposefully makes AVI look like crap.

themes can affect pics too. if u use 1000's of colors vs millions, if u use 800 by 600 vs 1280 by 760 and so on. it also matters the screen's coating. glossy vs normal. know if u compare lets say xp vs the osx release of that period, with the same themes color schemes monitor and same amount of ram and so on, then that is a fair fight. specially if u use software native to each system and not like something that works for windows me and xp or panther and tiger. in other words, fight equally.

osx and most linux distros do have higher quality post production integrated into the OS for pictures but even more for videos. However, this has to do more with the software that is displaying the pictures over the OS software but clear examples are obvious with programs like VLC which displays higher quality on OSX than windows for videos. However, most of it has to do with opinion. Some people like the way a looks over b and vice versa.

The thing about microsoft is that they wait to long to release there patches to fix these problems.Macs os is more stable than vista and vista is a rip off of leopard ant they couldn't get that right. Vista will never be better than leopard. In an interview even Bill Gates said that vista didn't come out the way they wanted. and thats why most people are downgrading to XP but you dont see mac users downgrading back to tiger.

Yes stability issues with windows. I do powerpoint presentations using a windows pc and last week doing a presentation in from of 55 people the system locked up 3 times and i had to restart the whole system because it didnt want to close the program i was using. That doesn't happen on a mac If a program stops responding it doesn't affect anything else on the mac i just have to close the program and relaunch it again not like in windows, where you have to restart your machine.

Leopard is good, but Windows Vista works better with my digital stuff, for example: photos - I definitely prefer elaborating them on Vista than iMac, (on both of them I have Photoshop cs3), Vista's pc does provide better realistic colours;p
Both OS's are looking great, Aero and Aqua provide me good feelings, and making work easier/lever.

IBM manufactured the macs processors before they moved to Intel because they theirs ran cooler. They used UNIX because they wanted to use a stable kernel (darwin) when they were designing OSX.
As for Macs being a 'toy computer for kids', In my mind that's their greatest asset -- they are so ergonomic and tactile that you need no previous knowledge to get them working out of the box. Macs are tools designed from the ground up for a job, and as such they rule.

Just make sure to "Save For The Web" in Photoshop or similar image editing programs under A Mac so that the end product won't look darker than it really is when viewed with a PC. I prefer Macintosh and have been on the Mac side of the computer fence for nearly 14 years. I like the PC for a few things, but can do all I need with my trusty Mac Mini.

Well, in the video you cannot see any mac. And you definitely cannot see where the camera is plugged to... The two big screens do not look mac at all. You might know it is a mac using bootcamp (or whatever), but it doesn't look like it. So shut up. I'm glad you spend hours listening to this guy and know all the macs he has; I have a life of my own.

nope. The Mac OS has always been better at managing the screen display, colours, and such stuff. ColorSync also allows to have a good correlation of the colours between printers, screens, and scanners.

holy shit, the answer is so simple it does not require the fucking bla blas this guy is spitting out:
os x by default use a different gamma setting than other os, so colors are different.
you can set that gamma in xp and it'll render photos as a mac.

Umm.. try to install an earlier version of Safari?? What's that.. An earlier version of Safari won't work with Tiger?? Well .. Try installing the Safari 2.01 update from Apple support... I'm sorry you can't install Safari 2.01 on this computer as this computer is OS X 10.4.1, we want Safari 10.4.2 Download 10.4.2 update.. run the installer. i have my mac partitioned into the mac partition and windows the windows partition. So its the same hardware. Truly, the images look better on the mac partition and the mac partition runs better

ATI has much more mature drivers for mac than nvidia. pc dont have final cut studio. we have boot camp and can run ALL win apps. pc users aint ever getting final cut studio.

OS X is faster than XP. I run OSx86, XP, and Vista, and OS X is much more responsive than XP or Vista. Using an HP Vectra.

i have been using a mac since os 7.2 , and even have over time done some "free" tech help for my local windows users that have errors and glitches, from win 95 thru win vista, so if i, a mac user can do things and fix windows machines, then windows users can use macs with ease, especially when the next os comes out in late october, [[ thanks for the vids chris ]] i watch you some times live on the dot tv streams

I use a mac and a p, hard to compre all that, mac seems more bogged down by the pretty os than windows. And I like how MS does fonts better than the fuzzy fonts in osx
