I work for a dentist, I can tell you, doing this everyday will completely wear away your enamel. Enamel is what prevents cavities from eating your teeth away. My boss says you don't need to do this more than twice a year. It is unnecessary to get them to an abnormal shade of white. And whitening costs around $140 depending.

I have thin skin around my eyes, whenever I use concealer my eyes look like someone gave me black eyes. Ive tried yellow, purple, green, and nude. My moms eyes are the same way. Do you know anything that will help conceal them.

I tried this too and it was like I was foaming at the mouth! EEEW! I also squeezed the gel in the mouth piece. I am going to try rubbing it on my teeth this time. Hopefully it works, because it was pretty gross!

so i went out and bought this and i've only used it for 2 days so far. i notice when i wear the mouthpiece i also salivate A LOT!! is this normal and does it effect the whitening agent at all? i'm gonna keep using it and see what happens. also the directions say to squeeze the gel directly into the mouthpiece and i found that is just WAYYYY too much gel so now i'm trying it like Marlena does and just rub it on my teeth first. Anybody got other ways to apply it???

@itsLEENY i went and got it too lol i dont know if the saliva effects the gel but the drooling is normal, or atleast for me :P and yeah dont put the gel in the mouth piece wayyy too much, just do what she said and dry your teeth and put it on with a qtip.. i leave it on for about 10mins and the results are awesome!!

@Susan94x If you put your toothpaste on your brush and then dip it gently into the baking soda so you get a thin layer on top of the toothpaste it whitens your teeth but don't put too much on and don't do it too often as it makes your gums bleed a lot :) (do it twice a week and that should be more than enough) hope this helps :)

@Susan94x just like when you use a toothpaste just put some on your toothbrush and brush with the baking soda. It doesnt taste very good but it works well... you can use it before you brush with toothpaste so you dont have that gross taste in your mouth :) ive been using it for years and it definately a good cheaper alternative

@choukawaii4eva Ive used crest whitestrips and they HURT so BAD after three days, I have incredibly sensitive teeth and I was put right off them. If you drink coffee tea or colas there is no point, if you wont give them up you wont get white teeth, I love my coffee so im out of luck lol!

For those of you saying you have sensitive teeth (like I do) and the Crest Whitestrips hurt you (as they do me), try the Crest Whitestrips Sensitive version...they are made for people with sensitive teeth. You only have to leave them on for about 5 minutes as opposed to the ones Marlena mentioned, which you have to leave on for 2 hours (ouch!). This kit comes with more strips than the stronger ones, so you should still get the same result. Hope that helps some of you! :)

Once you get whitening trays the whitening at the dentist is like $30 its just the trays that are like $250 and one syringe is like a weeks worth and it lasts a long time especially if you use whitening toothpaste

5 minute whitening sold at walmart, that's where i got my 5minute whitening kit . Crest white strips ruined my teeth. Used the cheapest ones, once every 4 months(box says wait a min. Of 3) and the bottoms of my front teeth and tops of the bottom front teeth are turning translucent so i cant use whitening products anymore :(

@beautywithkat : Ouch. Using pure aloe gel at night will soothe and treat the acne, peeling and inflammation. It can also act as a base for mineral makeup. Its the combo I used during a phase like that. Hope you find something that works for you!

@beautywithkat i had this but it was a allergic reaction to my painkillers after i got my wisodm teeth out ! i went a full week with out any face makeup (eye makeup only) and my skin is better then normal ! it might be hard bu you need to go with out any makeup and a lot of moisturizer :)

@LaSirenita0407 Try putting it on while in the shower. That way if you drool, it won't matter. And then when you're done, you can just rinse out your mouth before getting out of the shower. Hope this helps.

As someone in the dental profession, any whitening product that you use that is 5 minutes or 30 minutes or so is going to be sensitive to your teeth. It usually has a higher concentration of bleach, therefore, makes teeth more sensitive. If you are having problems, use the nighttime formulas, as they are weaker. Brush with Sensodyne toothpaste after to help with sensitivity. If you have sensitive gums, you may need to trim the white strips so that the formula doesn't touch your gums.

the thinning of enamel is sometimes an illusion. the whiter your teeth get, the more noticable the edges get, therefore, it might look like they are thinner. always get it checked out by your dentist. and some people do get sensitivity from whitening. its not for everyone. i can't do it at all. my teeth are very sensitive. i'm very jealous of people who can do it.

They have Crest 3D Whitestrips that are only 30 minutes a day and you start seeing results after 2 or 3 days, that's better so you don't have to leave them on as long but I really don't like the advanced seal because half the time I can't even get the strips off of my teeth, I have to keep digging my nails around to get them off.
