I read about this one in Carol's new autobiography. One of the classmate names Adrienne Lenore Weingarten is taken from a girl in Carol's elementary school. When the episode aired on TV, Ms. Weingarten called CBS. She stated that she didn't remember Carol.

I grew up watching this show with my grandma and we used to laugh ourselves silly. As I got older I realized how much ground breaking Carol did on tv as a comedienne. AND as a dramatic actress, she got a Golden Globe nomination as best actress for the film "The Life of the Party", a true story. It's too late for SNL. Unless there is a sea-change of sensiblility in the media, televsion and entertainment in general will blindly follow the unwritten politically correct codes that everyone is afraid of violating. SNL is still occasionally funny ---- but not off-the-wall, fall on the floor lauging funny like it was 20 or 25 years ago.

THIS WAS GREAT - although I saw 1, maybe 2 of the gags coming, still I exploded laughing when they did, and yet there were even MORE surprises - I agree there needs to be more like this NOW. Too, what makes this extra funny is the non PC "FAT FAT FAT" talk that is so effective THEN, because it is OLDER comedy, whereas today anything goes - but I doubt they would say "FAT FAT FAT" even in any of today's awful selection of "comedy/" Thank you for posting, this made my morning!

Carol Burnett is a master. Brings back memories when my mother and I would sit down to watch the Carol Burnett show. Agree with all of you, today's tv comedy is entertaining but Carol Burnett and Friends and other 60s and 70's shows are the best.
