@Horaciow14 if its in good condition its a very good deal. bc this is no longer made, just the 65 reissues. this is a 1000 dollar guitar, so buy it. lol
@Pandanobear Well, Manabe does. He uses an Orange Overdrive 120 I think it was and he used to use a Fender Mustang but I think he started to use a Les Paul recently. Sawao, the singer and other guitarist uses a Twin Reverb and a Fender Mexican Cyclone or something. There's a couple videos here on Youtube where the band shows you how to play each of their parts in "Hybrid Rainbow" and they go through all their equipment. You can find Manabe's by typing "Yoshiaki Manabe Demo (English Subs)"

Nice. I -3 Muse! :D I'm building one of these from scratch right now. I'm changing the bridge cause the official one wasn't any good. I'm also making the neck a little longer. It'll sound loud and mean. :D
Olympic white is super nice, super classy. I suggest you go for that 65, you're gonna love that guitar. Also, I'd like to point out that daphne blue is not horrible. I have one and love it! :)
A pickup change is a good thing on these guitars, too.
im getting the 65 RI in olympic white. its 500 pounds in my music store. is it a good colour choice and is it better than the 69? i love the sonic blue colour but they dont make it for 65 and 69 is only in japan lol and theres no way im resorting to ebay rip offs. the daphine blue on the 65 looks horrible, its too light. i like the red and the white colours of the olympic but its so annoying lol
@DylanCooperMusic You find them on sale on Ebay all the time. My advice, don't do it. I've had both the '65 and '69 reissues, and the '65 reissue is superior. Sure, the '69 has the nice body forearm and tummy contours, but that's the only thing better about it. The bridge saddles on a '69 RI are undersized and move a bit from side to side. Also, it's made of basswood, which is not vintage correct. The '65 RI has a nice poplar body, has body shielding, and full-sized bridge saddles.
@666lucky13 when the switch is on the middle, the pickup is off. when it's on your right,it's out of phase and when it's on your left it's on,but normal.
@MeanGreenMovies Squier Jagmaster, a normal Fender Strat with or without a humbucker, Gibson SG, Gibson Melody Maker... Most grunge comes from your amp, often with a pedal, like fuzz.
@MeanGreenMovies Whatever feels good and sounds good to you. Seriously, people get far too hung up on this question. I know people who play metal on Rickenbackers and I know people who play jazz on pointy shred machines. One of my favorite videos on youtube features Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden playing a Squier Telecaster. There is no wrong guitar for your genre. Find one that you think looks awesome. That way you'll pick it up and play it all the time.
@Visionism thanks for the help, i suppose i never really thought of that, but its just soooooo many demos (this one NOT included) have amazing valve stack amps, which make the guitar sound better than it does on a normal combo practice amp which is really annoying but yeah this demo is epic, and forget genre i just want a thick meaty sound, btw im more likely gonna buy pedals than a new guitar, so could you recommend any crunchy distortions or any thick gooey fuzz, or an awesome EVH lik flanger
@MeanGreenMovies Van Halen style flanger is easy. Dunlop make an EVH signature model flanger. For thick fuzz you could do worse than look at a big muff. But dont take my word for it. You'd be missing a golden opportunity to walk into a music store and say "Show me your muff" (Yes, I may be forty but I have the sense of humor of a twelve year old)
I had an original '72 back in the day. I wish I still had it. I remember the pup's in mine were a little darker than the 69 reissue I have now. That one is so much brighter. I do miss the '72 though.
Not much to explain - three position switch controls each pickup. Middle pos is off, other positions affect the phase. So, if you have the front switch forward and the rear one back (or vicey versey) you have you pickups in opposite phase, which gives a sort of "quacky" sound and also results in less hum. (a humbucker is two pickups in opposite phase combined in one unit - you are sort of turning your two single coils on the mustang into one big humbucker)
it sounds muddy with fuzz. im thinking about buying one of these...when u palm mute is it easy to accidentally activate the tremolo and knock urself out of tune?
What song were you playing when you're guitar was set to clean. It sounded really cool, reminded me of The Kinks haha:)

How does the switching work?
666lucky13 1 year ago 18
The switch for the neck pickup is the one closer to the neck, and the bridge pickup switch closer to the bridge.
When he puts the switch to his right, it turns the pickup on. When he switches it to his left, it turns it off.
So when both are right, both pickups are on. When only one is to the right and the other is to the left, only the one that's to the right is on.
Or do you mean how it works technically?
peel432 11 months ago
