I think throughout our history, excessive idealism in any one direction is paradoxically almost always the cause of the worst suffering and abuse. Although I would lean away from the state by default, there is certainly excess in that stance as well.

1) Judaism is a religion. The Soviet Union was strongly opposed to religion.

here's the thing, if you think that china, or soviet russia, or north korea are communist, then you don't know what communism really is. communism is bad for rich people so just like any where else there was never any real communism. whether you are conservative or not you have to realize that none of these countries are communist. you can give me a rotten tomato and call it an apple, but i know it's not an apple. i know what and apples' supposed to look like.

the big reason why communist regimes caused so many deaths and did not bring the freedom and equality it promised was because of communist political parties. whenever a communist organisation managed to get control over a region they would transform it and reshape it's governing and social structures, thus making themselves no longer vital, it furfilled it's task and should have stept aside to let the system work. what happend was they didn't, they had excuses or simple refused, power corrupts
