i thought it was a good movie, but i think it would have been better had we lost. I would have ended the movie when they were in the helicopter flying away from a burning L.A., in that way, you not only get a good emotional tug from the audience but you also justify making a sequel where we kick ass and making that victory even more triumphant.

What's gay about war of the worlds is that the aliens have sheilds, which makes the pretty much undefeatable, which really made the movie bad because we know we have no chance. But a clip i seen in this movie they actually killed a group of aliens, sweet this movie is gonna be good.

There would have to be a lot of answers given in the movie as to what the strategy behind the American defense is to speculate on that. For me though, I ask why the aliens would attack just 12 sites around the world? What numbers are they invading in? Do they air strike places farther inland?

China's army is a bunch of guys given one day at a firing range with an AK-47. Their Air Force is terrible and the Navy, outside of a couple of sub's, is weak as well. POTENTIALLY, the Chinese could rapidly expand their military-industrial complex and overtake Western Europe and the U.S., but they are no where near that at the moment.

Good call but lets put it this way. you land on a beach with a naval vessel, a hovercraft with an abrams and Apaches backing you up, ahead are some guys with really big rocks and short lengths of wood where the ends are on fire. Thay are the advanced ones, the less advanced just run around looking for food and fighting among themselves.

I am not sure we could consider anything on earth that advanced. A rifle is 1700s technology made with an autoload mechanism and an optic sight.

@RowdiesFan1 1st of of, thats what they did, if you watch the other trailers, clips, and reviews (official ones), they say how all major cities and nations were attacked first. and YES it IS a textbook invasion. recon is the most essential part. if you dont know your enemies weak points and suck, you cant successfully launch an invasion and succeed without major casualties.

LA is the last stronghold? So then my next question would be, where is San Diego, Seattle (sure it's a distance, but it's still a large city, with a naval base, and difficult terrain surrounding it), and the ENTIRE San Fransisco Bay metroplex? LA is a "stronghold" and it didn't even get a chance to be fortified whereas ANY other city on the west coast would have seemingly days or maybe weeks to prepare.

@RowdiesFan1 the naval base would have been destroyed. the aliens land on the coast that naval base would be wiped out. it probably got destroyed. the reason la is the stronghold is because all the major cities were already destroyed so the actual counterattack you see in the movie takes place when the aliens are after the MINOR cities, meaning that the major ones were already destroyed. but like i said, on the WEST coast not the east coast or the entire world, just the last one in western US
