Retrosound, this is why you have some of the most awesome videos on YouTube. I must spend an hour in here getting my fix every day. Keep em' coming ;)
sounds from heaven...... ii wish i had this-a jupiter8-a cs80 a moog modular and a dsi prophet 5--but what the hell, at least i own the andromeda a6.......
how would one learn to play a synthesizer? excpesially a vintage one, i got a oberheim four voice for christmas (because my parents know that i love to make funky music ;) but i have no idea how to play a synth (i can play piano) what do i do!!!
I know that Oberheim Electronics were pretty quick to phase this model out in favor of the OB-Xa that came out just a shade under 2 years later but how many OB-Xs were made?
Heaven at 3:36,5:20 and 7:17 :-) Nice tweakings of the knobs to show just what this amazing instrument is capable of !!! Infinite possibilities........right up there with the Minimoog, IMHO. Thank you for the fine vids !!! Peace :-)
The OB-X is my favorite. The OB-X sound is more organic and warm (discrete structure and SEM filter design). The OB-XA has the faster envelopes and the sound is more like the Prophet-5.

@TheAlphadial Do you sell your speakers ?
boswachtersrule 1 year ago
@boswachtersrule Me (TheAlphadial)? Or the guy that posted this video (retrosound72)? If me, which speakers are you talking about?
TheAlphadial 1 year ago
@TheAlphadial The speakers that make a Juno 2 sound like a OB-X, saves me a lot of money.
Does the Juno 2 also sound like a CS 80 when you use those speakers ?
If so even more extra space and money.......

3:36 - 4:38 pure analogue power!

The low-end VCO - PWM and XMOD demonstrations are awesome. i need to see if the Akai AX-80 I have (w/ Curtis chips) can come close to the same.

BTW I'm guessing its semi-modular by the extra jack sockets on the back? Have you ever played around with those?
Used to do that with the Sherman Filterbank and I could get some really strange modular sounds out of it.

I love the VCF modulation on that thing near the end! Really spacey.

Was muss man für den inzwischen sehr raren OB-X anlegen? Ich schätze, unter 4000 kriegt man den nicht. Also in diesem Leben nicht mehr.
(Ach hätt´ich doch was gescheites gelernt... nein... hätte mein Vater was gescheites gelernt. hehehe!) ; )
schmittwilli 2 years ago
das problem ist eher, wo bekommt man noch einen OB-X der funktioniert, das Teil ist genau 30 Jahre alt
