I know what you mean... but for those kind of styles there are Strategy games, and although you could also pause in these games, you can't take actions while paused, usually.

@IvanMallia really?well i never feel connected with hawke. Especially because he is NOT my character. Sure you can customize him in the character creation and all that but Hawke will always be Hawke. This goes against the very principle of a role playing game. Also, action-rpgs bores me really quickly. I had a lot of fun with morrowind and oblivion but when i fell like i want action, i will play a proper action game, like devil may cry. In rpgs i want to have to think and to strategize. you see?
@eusouocarameuirmao It's nice to strategise but you should be able to do that on the fly. That's the way it is in combat, and that's how it should be if it is to resemble real life. Generals strategised before battles and gave quick commands during battle... that's it

@WillyWallace100 look i am one of those people who really fell in love with DAO. so far DAO is the best game i have played in my life thats why i have full reasons to like DA2. you just need to think positive abt this game, it can turn out to be a good game at the end. bioware have worked hard for this and they have openned a brilliant start to DA3. they want to continue then support them, i am only saying dont just pinpoint bad things also look at the good things and hope DA3 turns out better.

Either way you look at it, the difficulty feels about the same to me. I prefer the waves of enemies, because it gives you the feel that your enemies are calling on reinforcements to back them up.
IMO, the combat was very intense. A lot more intense than DAO to me, where you're having to pause every 2 seconds.
@WillyWallace100 DAO is not by fact better than DA2. In your opinion DAO is better than DA2. There's a difference there. Sorry you had to keep spamming buttons, you should've played the PC version. If I had a choice, I'd choose not to have auto attack. When you walk up to someone, you have to make an effort to fight them. It doesn't just automatically happen.
@WillyWallace100 Buggy? DA2 seemed pretty solid to me. All the abilities worked fine, combat felt very fluid, and I never ran into any bugs at all while running through the campaign.
Could they have made better design choices? Absolutely. Since I started playing video games in 1987 I've yet to play a game where I didn't disagree with some of the game mechanics, but that's just a part of video game design, which is why there is always sequels.
Actually I do think DA2 graphics look worse than DAO, that somehow explains why suddenly my computer is able to run DA2 rather smoothly and without a single crash, but DAO is a different story...
@0pracyloh0 No actually, DA2 has much better graphics as it supports DirectX 11. However, DA2 is also much less of a game than DAO. What i mean is that DAO has the entire ferelden as playable area, when DA2 has only kirkwall(a ferelden city) as playable area. So more game, more ram and more of your system must be used to work. So even though DA2 has better graphics, DAO is still much bigger which really slows your PC down if you're running the game on really high settings. Hope that helps.

I know why you guys hate the game. Because you got addicted to Origins. That's it. And you anticipated Dragon Age 2 so much. And now you're complaining and you're saying that Origins was better. I did like DA2, but it just felt unfinished and incomplete somehow, as if Bioware was rushing to get it out. In Origins most everything was covered, nothing was left unfinished unless you made the choice to rush through the game.
@ColeTheInfamous They've forgetting it took 2 years worth of player made addons, patches, and DLC to make DAO worth playing. Out of the box, DAO is a pile of crap that is plagued with bugs (hell, it's plagued with bugs even patched). Hardly anyone plays DAO straight out of the box these days, and anyone who says they do is a lying sack of shit. Once you've used the model addons, community made geometry and graphic fixes, and other addons, you'd never play DAO out of the box again.

@EddieChute I don't agree with Origins being the best RPG ever made. Most of the side quests are boring and repetitive. It's almost the same garbage over and over. The only quests worth doing is the main plot and the premium DLC story arcs.
It's a solid RPG, but not the best.
I believe they did a lot better job with making the side quests more interesting this time around. A lot of them even have nice cutscenes and story behind them. It's not perfect, but it's an improvement.
I really like the game but it would have been so much better if they had made it as large as DAO, and with the same amount or more attention to detail.. instead of doing missions in the same places. And had let you be a dwarf or elf! What were they thinking removing that? And changing your companions armour? It's like they were too desperate to make the game different to DAO that they removed what made the game so fun.
@new2hackin They removed it because it wouldn't fit the story this time around. If you have played Dragon Age II you'd know the story is more personal and focuses around one character, Hawke, and his/her journey of rising to be the Champion of Kirkwall.
The companion armor can't be changed because again, if you've played through Dragon Age II and have paid attention to the personality of your companions they become "attached" to their armor, as most of it is heirloom gear they have acquired.
Yeah I know, I've done many re-runs, but companions being attached to the armour isn't a reason for doing it, it's just an explanation within context of the plot.. it could easily be changed, and I think should have been.

@spiderman35k It's part of what makes BioWare games so great. Almost all of them are like that. Try playing Nightmare without pausing and strategically setting up each combat scenario, then you'll appreciate the pause feature. Besides, you always have the option to completely ignore it and play the entire game in real time.
man i loved this game so much, the combat and story was so much better than the predecessor but its just 30 hours of gameplay compared to origins which got like 200 hours... that was very dissapointing :(((
I have this game and I can only say that playing with any character they did a good job, I play alot with the mage and a cool thing is the staffs are like different elements e.g fire or ice, so when I choose a fire staff it standardly shoots fire balls, if I choose a ice staff it fires ice. I really like that in DA2.
i dont worry about graphics really, i dont judge games by it and never have, to be honest i like all games really, and i think gameplay is more important anyway
Having played the first couple of hours, I can honestly say Bioware nerfed the Dragon Age series. The story isn't interesting at all, the world is significantly smaller than in the original, and they got a retarded new voice actor for Sandal. What the fuck were they thinking? Sandal used genuine and enthusiastic. Now he just sounds like he has autism.
It's so fun to try and make every character a tank and make your character a pure magic stat mage and 20-25 points in constitution for health (blood mage)
Blood mage allows Mages use health (constitution) in place of mana, because of that you can put nothing in willpower and have blood magic only take %50 of ur mana. Along with that, Ander's is a pretty good healer. The Spirit healer class is also good with the blood mage class. With pure magic... I had a base attack of about 3500 at lvl 20-25
@Foxhound1112 idd. What annoys me tho with mages is that warriors and rogues tend to stunlock, if they survive initial assault. Cone of frost is always handy to have tho.
Friendly advice: don't buy this game or wait till it drops to 15$ in bargain bin...
The game is a cheap money grab, whatever style and originality it had is gone for the sake of cheap power-rangers-like stuff and 95% of game is you doing sidequests in a copy-paste of the same location(game has ~3 dungeons it reuses again and again and again).
Barely anything is like origins, almost all RPG mechanics and Baldurs Gate similarities are gone.

@lumberjacky2k Lol. You're crazy as hell, too. Dragon Age: Origins looks no where near as good as Dragon Age II does. Better lighting, higher resolution textures, better use of bump mapping, particle and special effects are leaps and bounds better, plus it has DX11 support. When you install the high-resolution texture pack, it looks even better.
Dragon Age: Origins looked so horrible, that people went as far as to completely overhaul the geometry textures.

@WillyWallace100 the only thing i care is that DAO has better combat and has wide variety of talents. i have completed both games and u can be alot more tactical in DA2 than in DAO. every character has its own specialization which i really like and u can use cross class combos which make the combat much more fun. I also love DAO but I prefer DA2 only because I prefer more tactical and action game. this argument is clearly based on opinions so theres no right and wrong but haters are not needed.

@mahms012 DA2 throws tactical gameplay out of the window by implementing Wave Combat which makes the game longer than it should, which is not tactical, is just a cheap way of making the game seem harder than it is, which is increased by enemies having twice as much life as you, making everything ridiculously long, anyway, combat is action based, and just makes you think that is just as tactical but sadly is not,due questionable design choices, like i said, but anyway,if u like DA2 more, whatever

@WillyWallace100 look i am one of those people who really fell in love with DAO. so far DAO is the best game i have played in my life thats why i have full reasons to like DA2. you just need to think positive abt this game, it can turn out to be a good game at the end. bioware have worked hard for this and they have openned a brilliant start to DA3. they want to continue then support them, i am only saying dont just pinpoint bad things also look at the good things and hope DA3 turns out better.

Either way you look at it, the difficulty feels about the same to me. I prefer the waves of enemies, because it gives you the feel that your enemies are calling on reinforcements to back them up.
IMO, the combat was very intense. A lot more intense than DAO to me, where you're having to pause every 2 seconds.

If I had a choice, I'd choose not to have auto attack. When you walk up to someone, you have to make an effort to fight them. It doesn't just automatically happen.

@WillyWallace100 Buggy? DA2 seemed pretty solid to me. All the abilities worked fine, combat felt very fluid, and I never ran into any bugs at all while running through the campaign.
Could they have made better design choices? Absolutely. Since I started playing video games in 1987 I've yet to play a game where I didn't disagree with some of the game mechanics, but that's just a part of video game design, which is why there is always sequels.

Actually I do think DA2 graphics look worse than DAO, that somehow explains why suddenly my computer is able to run DA2 rather smoothly and without a single crash, but DAO is a different story...

@0pracyloh0 No actually, DA2 has much better graphics as it supports DirectX 11. However, DA2 is also much less of a game than DAO. What i mean is that DAO has the entire ferelden as playable area, when DA2 has only kirkwall(a ferelden city) as playable area. So more game, more ram and more of your system must be used to work. So even though DA2 has better graphics, DAO is still much bigger which really slows your PC down if you're running the game on really high settings. Hope that helps.

Out of the box, DAO is a pile of crap that is plagued with bugs (hell, it's plagued with bugs even patched). Hardly anyone plays DAO straight out of the box these days, and anyone who says they do is a lying sack of shit. Once you've used the model addons, community made geometry and graphic fixes, and other addons, you'd never play DAO out of the box again.

@EddieChute I don't agree with Origins being the best RPG ever made. Most of the side quests are boring and repetitive. It's almost the same garbage over and over. The only quests worth doing is the main plot and the premium DLC story arcs.
It's a solid RPG, but not the best.
I believe they did a lot better job with making the side quests more interesting this time around. A lot of them even have nice cutscenes and story behind them. It's not perfect, but it's an improvement.

I really like the game but it would have been so much better if they had made it as large as DAO, and with the same amount or more attention to detail.. instead of doing missions in the same places. And had let you be a dwarf or elf! What were they thinking removing that? And changing your companions armour? It's like they were too desperate to make the game different to DAO that they removed what made the game so fun.

@new2hackin They removed it because it wouldn't fit the story this time around. If you have played Dragon Age II you'd know the story is more personal and focuses around one character, Hawke, and his/her journey of rising to be the Champion of Kirkwall.
The companion armor can't be changed because again, if you've played through Dragon Age II and have paid attention to the personality of your companions they become "attached" to their armor, as most of it is heirloom gear they have acquired.

Try playing Nightmare without pausing and strategically setting up each combat scenario, then you'll appreciate the pause feature. Besides, you always have the option to completely ignore it and play the entire game in real time.

I have this game and I can only say that playing with any character they did a good job, I play alot with the mage and a cool thing is the staffs are like different elements e.g fire or ice, so when I choose a fire staff it standardly shoots fire balls, if I choose a ice staff it fires ice. I really like that in DA2.

Having played the first couple of hours, I can honestly say Bioware nerfed the Dragon Age series. The story isn't interesting at all, the world is significantly smaller than in the original, and they got a retarded new voice actor for Sandal. What the fuck were they thinking? Sandal used genuine and enthusiastic. Now he just sounds like he has autism.

It's so fun to try and make every character a tank and make your character a pure magic stat mage and 20-25 points in constitution for health (blood mage)
Blood mage allows Mages use health (constitution) in place of mana, because of that you can put nothing in willpower and have blood magic only take %50 of ur mana. Along with that, Ander's is a pretty good healer. The Spirit healer class is also good with the blood mage class. With pure magic... I had a base attack of about 3500 at lvl 20-25

Friendly advice: don't buy this game or wait till it drops to 15$ in bargain bin...
The game is a cheap money grab, whatever style and originality it had is gone for the sake of cheap power-rangers-like stuff and 95% of game is you doing sidequests in a copy-paste of the same location(game has ~3 dungeons it reuses again and again and again).
Barely anything is like origins, almost all RPG mechanics and Baldurs Gate similarities are gone.

@homie9760 honestly ive played the xbox 360 demo of the game, ive tried all classes, all 3 of them are great but with warrior's being able to move and hit twice as fast i would side with that class but its all about how you play your character, theres more to the game then just rushing and a tank and spank, but what im really trying to say is play the character that fits you the best and use that character to the best of his abilities.

Better lighting, higher resolution textures, better use of bump mapping, particle and special effects are leaps and bounds better, plus it has DX11 support. When you install the high-resolution texture pack, it looks even better.
Dragon Age: Origins looked so horrible, that people went as far as to completely overhaul the geometry textures.
