Hello, I totally love this table top! I have a couple of questions, though. First of all.. when you grout first, doesn't the grout dry while you place the pieces? another question: I recently purchased a table from IKEA and would like to know if it's OK to have a flat surface as opposed to the surface you have (the frame around the table top). thanks! and please post more videos :D
Hey thanks for making the video and i had a quick question, when choosing a surface to tile on does it have to be a specific material, say glass or plastic, or can it be any surface?... thanks :)
you realyl needed to show peopel more about the board you used. The final product look sliek the mosaic is recessed AND has some sort of rounded sedge (nothing even close would happen if solmeoen went and just found SOME BOARD .. and stuck it on the original table AT ALL.. you picked the part of the project that needed the least amount of instruction any one c an grout some broken tiles
The top is not recessed. The rounded edge was part of the original table. The original table had a marble top, which got broken, so we removed the top and replaced it with the mosaic, which really was just put on top of "some board." I agree that slapping some board on top of a existing table top would not achieve the same result. Everything depends on the table you've chosen. Anyone wishing to do this project should decide what measures need to taken in "Step One: prepare a suitable table."
Love it, they make it seem simple to make but I know its kind of hard to get it flat, still, it you use the flattest pieces it should come out like that, I love the look.

well i thought we need to contain it, is it going to just hang over the edge?
less time on the guy going thru the bag and a bit more detail would make this a helpful video.

We used wood. I don't think glass would be a good idea since the grout and tile become pretty heavy...? But it probably depends a lot on your grout.
