this brought tears to my eyes and i realized what happens to artists when they get older....their soul still urges for performance but alas.....sad reality
Still graceful three years before her death at the age of 90,tho older she still has the voice. True talent never dies, it just passes on the the next generation.
è tanto fortunata ci incontriamo. there is so much that great artists teach us about life and how to live it joyfully and with skillful means. these are things we absolutely must learn.
I thought at the time the documentary was first shown (1985) & still think to this day, that Sara Scuderi sang the most beautiful Vissi D'arte of all time. This documentary moved me so deeply. It's a life lesson for us all, - to remain passionate about the things we love, & to stay young at heart. If we can do this, & not allow the difficulties in life to make us discouraged, or disheartened, then we remain forever young, long after our youthful strength has deserted us..A beautiful documentary.
Thank you so much for this. i remember seeing it on TV many years ago and have never forgotten. What a triumphant, death defying couple they are, the very essence of Opera.
The frailties of old age await us all -- if we live long enough. These great opera stars show us how to do it with grace and dignity. Mme Scuderi wasn't the only one with a tear in her eye.
I have the film.... watch it now ant then.... why?.... coz this scenes give us some serious reason to think about the time we live now.... and to enjoy music with our souls... SCUDERI is one of the generation who lived for their art (and did not sing for a living)... anyway: a great film and great artists... they knew how to say "... davanti a lui tremava tutta Roma!...." we always will love SCUDERI and the others... and never forget them... THANKS FOR POSTING IT!
This charming Sara Scuderi sang a lot of times at the Opera Italana in The Haque (The Netherlands). This is a fine video that shows us the joy of singing!
A lovely film, very touching. Thank you!

To see this film and not to be filled with hope seems impossible. What great humanity.

Locapo at his late 70s would be a better baritone than some ones nowadays : Vratogna, Ganaidze, Frontali, Michaels Moore...

The old gal picked a good day to have a good day. We 've all heard young singers who cant pull that aria off as well.

With her presence, this grand ol' dame shows us the real human being. Touching. Deep. Moving.

Be sure to check the recent posting of Scuderi in 1937 in Cavalleria. It demonstrates what made her so admired as a singer.
