  • our oil reserves will one day run out but our poppies will still be growing, ALLAH gave us both and the infedils will never legalize it so we can keep making huge sums of money for our guns and bombs and spread islam to the four corners of the globe ALLAH AKBAR..

  • I was a heroin and cocaine addict for 15 years in Baltimore I been to 19 rehabs 1 long term state prison twice federal prison I tried AA and NA but being on the needle exchange program they put me on the methadone program and it saved my life I been clean 4 years everything I lost I have slowly regained back. I'm not going to lie sometimes I miss it but I refuse to go back to that life style. Thank God for the needle exchange program and methadone.

  • Sounds to me like all of those problems will be fixed with legalization. The addicts will never disappear, but if drugs are legal, addicts that want help can get it. Legalization would make the drugs themselves safer, and would cut the violence down to virtually zero. Do you think people will get shot over buying their drugs at a store? I hope every day that legalization comes as soon as possible, because situations like these should not be allowed to happen.

  • Someone in Bmore sell me somethinnnnnnn :D

  • Make it as legal as alcohol. These type of people will shoot /smoke the DRUG until they die. They will not breed and they wont need to pull robberies or mug. Let herion / crack /Meth be like the Lion in Africa. It will weed out the weak and our gene pool will be the better for it !!

  • So you think people are born with already-formed beliefs? You think that if a child is beaten, that that child will grow up to be the same kind of person that he would have been if he had grown up with loving parents? Who were your role models as a child? And how do you think they influenced you? A person who makes a mistake is still a person, and their mistake is not dictated by genetics. Blaming nature instead of society and government is convenient and guilt-free. And also gives no solution.

  • THe heroin and crack/cocaine drugs are all CIA imports distributed to the masses to keep them fucked up. Anyone who knows what expanded consciousness is like knows these government run destructive drugs only SHRINK your consciousness and turn you into a retard. Might as well shoot yourself if you're addicted to these things.

  • We should be able to do whatever drugs we want without the cops busting in. Terrence is so right it DOES have the potential to break mind programming. If I didn't risk my own ass and do hallucinogens back in the day I wouldn't have all the knowledge of expanded mind states and hidden realms of consciousness. I LOVE mushrooms.

  • i know that guy....he works at walmart!!

  • America needs Islam.

  • Islam is a mind drug.

  • Wow - Monica is an excellent reporter. And amazingly beautiful as well.

  • The US government should take care more about the critical social problems with drug´s trafic and consum and violence among the american population than spending time on wars and international inherency in other countries. It´s so sad to see how the US has become a very dangerous and violent place to live, so many people affected by the use of drugs, racism, school and street violence, guns everywhere, prostitution and terrible crimes. God help them, the war is inside the US land.

  • This is why that tax thing should be review from people like this. Get a good gov tax rebate and spend it all on drugs. Over a thousand per child, how much money went into drugs?

  • These drug addicts have no souls. They are the walking dead. The government needs to really crack down on the drug trade. Drug users should be publically flogged. Drug dealers should be hanged. This scourge is destroying America and it's time to end it.

  • Society needs to crack down on the environmental factors that made these people chronically self-medicate with drugs. The drugs themselves are of negligible harm in comparison to the poverty that predisposes people to, among other things, turn to chronic drug use.

  • So drug addicts are not responsible for their addictions--society is? Rubbish. Drug addiction is not related to poverty. There are drug addicts in the nicest neighborhoods, in the corporate boardrooms. Just because people are attracted to drug abuse doesn't mean the government should allow it.

  • I did not state that drug addiction in general is related to poverty. I said that in THIS CASE extreme poverty is the environmental factor leading people to find an easier way to escape from their immediate surroundings. The other instances that you are talking about (with wealthy individuals) often times also fall under self-therapy/self-medication. The cases I'm referring to do not differ from those when people turn to alcohol to "numb the pain".

  • Drug addiction obviously leads to poverty. Normal self supporting persons become dependent impoverished wretches. Another reason to put an end to the drug trade.

  • I think that you should think that over a lot more. There are ways of safely and more effectively increasing the ratio of [recreational users]/[addicts] than the current system allows for. I'll end it at that.

  • Under your reasoning there is no justification for the government to permit the use of alcohol either...

  • Alcohol isn't identical to meth or crack. It is a drug surely, but it affects people differently from meth or crack. Therefore government deals with alcohol differently. Perhaps you need to spend some time around meth freaks and crackheads.

  • Drugs addict people in the same way all throughout society, but that doesn't mean everybody has the same capacity to deal with the addiction.

  • And that's why I favor putting an end to the drug trade by publically hanging drug dealers and publically flogging addicts. Then, all people rich or poor can see the government means to rid America of drug abuse instead of ignoring it or legalizing it. Right now, too many people are making money off drug abuse and many of those persons are in the government.

  • That is a terrible idea. You have to kill the demand to kill the supply. Public executions won't stop anyone. The drug dealers are just a microcosm of the drug economy, they are employees looking for jobs, who receive a salary from an organized gang. Attacking the gang system bottom up is ineffective because the bottom will always be replaced, since a foot soldier has high demand believe it or not. Preventing traffic is more effective, but primarily providing a stable family and school system.

  • Talking about "providing stable families and school systems" is a dead end. Many addicts come from stable families and schools. The only answer is to punish all drug dealers and addicts with punishments that deter illegal drug trade and use. This craziness must stop. Social engineering as a fix is never going to work because government at present benefits too much from the illegal drug trade. This drug trade is a cancer that decays society and the cure is an all out crackdown.

  • Referring to the decaying of entire communities to drugs (ghettos) resulted to the intentional targeted distribution of narcotics to vulnerable communities, which completely overturned the family structure. Nearly all addicts and gang members both lack complete parent models and are left with worst schools. Legal punishment is ineffective to an addict, they need therapy and help. Locking addicts away only worsens the situation. The problem is we lock away so many people but deny many treatment.

  • Ghettos don't initially exist and have drugs. Drugs cause ghettos which bring more drugs. Cracking down on lower level dealers and mindless addicts does not stop the demand for drugs since these criminals will just produce more of their like. A simultaneous effort for interceptive trafficking before it enters inner cities (even the country), and growing up these people in healthy educational environments and re-establishing a civic culture which corporate America thrives from the lack of.

  • The drug culture is a cancer which destroys societies. It is a cancer which doesn't care where its victims attend school or how much money they have. The only solution to cancer is a vigorous and early treatment. You need to aggressively attack the problem. Waiting for healthy educational environments or reestablishment of civic cultures just delays needed treatment. Addicts and dealers at all levels must be punished and in some cases killed. Effective punishment is mandatory.

  • You can't just label a social problem a cancer and then reason to treat it the same way. Aggressive urban policing already breaks many constitutional rights, saying its for the greater good, but progress has not shown. It only creates a rebellious mindset towards the Government killing the State's legitimacy, creating a chaotic environment as seen in American ghettos. Urban decay is a gradual process, urban rebirth will be (and is) and gradual process.

  • American ghettos are already way too chaotic. Eliminating gangsters and drug dealers by hanging them publically will make ghettos much more peaceful and orderly. When law abiding residents of communities see the government giving these career criminals their just rewards, it will actually give hope and confidence to the law abiding. Public flogging for drug abusers is a much more effective deterrent than giving them room and board in the local joint. The joint is no deterrent.

  • Your right that the current system of just locking up criminals is proliferating the situation because drug warlords become invincible in the safe-haven of their cell. However, public hanging would cause so much civil disobedience and hatred for the Government, completely stripping the State of its legitimacy from its citizens creating massive chaos. Oh, not to mention public hangings has been unconstitutional since it was ruled long ago (look it up if you want)to violate the 8th Amendment.

  • Public hangings have a calming effect on society. People quietly gather to watch scumbags who deserve to die receive a painful death. It gives ordinary, law abiding citizens hope that the government is on their side and not protecting criminals who need justice. Public hangings can be made constitutional if we can get some justices with common sense on the Supreme Court in place of the current crop of losers.

  • Public hangings bring out an inner animal in an individual, how a community will gather to see the hanging of week as a form of entertainment, an idea which is very demoralizing. The other problem is that you say it gives ordinary law abiding citizens hope. Now what do you consider normal law abiding citizens. In American ghettos, criminals are so high in number. In my hometown Baltimore, more than 50% of inner city black males will either be incarcerated or killed by the age 30.

  • Also, public hangings can't work in a big city like Baltimore in the 21st century. Can you imagine your children watching that, and being told its acceptable? The idea is just disturbing. Everyday I drive by protesters in front of the Baltimore City Prison with signs that read "stop the racist death penalty". Statistics and evidence has shown that the death penalty has favored white convicts. Now I'm sure the prosecutions have been subconscious racism, but thats still an issue.

  • The simple answer is for one area of the country to try public hangings for drug dealers and public flogging for drug abusers as an experiment to rid the area of the drug problem. A good place to try it would be California. Of course the punishment has to be applied across all racial groups and economic levels. Of course watching a hanging is disturbing, but it is a good lesson of deterrence so naturally children are encouraged to watch. I'm sure it would reduce crime to very low levels.

  • stfu. the cops and the blacks are a team. they need each other. the cops wouild be out of work if not for them so fuk off

  • Son, the vulgarity is uncivilized and unnecessary. It's a sign of low class.

  • Let me add that I am not referring to the few exceptions in every societal community who falls victim to addiction (the 2 crackheads in suburbia), its irrelevant. The problem is entire ghettos that completely destroy an entire concentrated people (which most likely had a direct connection to those exceptions found in every community)

  • stfu. without drugs there would be no whores. and the cops wood be out of a job. so fuk off

  • I should probably know better than to take you seriously but there would be plenty of jobs for cops without drugs. But if you want to bring up job economy, consider that the BCPD is funded by taxpayer money, thats not necessarily a sign that this type of job that will help a local economy. Drugs cause blighted neighborhoods and scare away local businesses and working class people. They lead a people who are uneducated and unemployed...so drugs take away jobs.

  • crackheads

  • As countless others have stated and as this video seems to hint at - the underlying problem is due to socio-economic conditions and not due to the drug itself... The interviewer cut of My. Anderson just where he was about to offer some light onto specific examples of the socio-economic environmental factors that are the true cause of the problem. Sorry to say, but this really wasn't high quality reporting. Even I with no education in reporting can see huge opportunities for improving this piece.

  • You are right about drugs being only a symptom of a problem/s in any one society. But what are these socio-economic environmental factors you are talking about?

I think there is a lot of contradiction in the concept of freedom in the west. One of which is the freedom of showing role models using drugs in movies or music video clips and then expecting adolescents not copy them.

  • I agree with you on the point about the contradiction. The problems associated with drug use are not produced by the drugs but by the envronmental conditions that were/are already present. It makes little difference if the drug is an illegal one or alcohol - the effect is self-medication/self-therapy. So, for the cases described in the video the specific environmental factors would be incredible poverty leading people to seek a temporary refuge or relief by taking mind-altering substances...

  • So it actually is mostly economic environmental factors that make it seem as an almost impossibly difficult task to overcome seemingly perpetual poverty. So, the only quick and easy escape is drug use. This then becomes a socially acceptable way of escaping hardship within the impoverished community and so the cycle continues...

I don't object to recreational drug use, but what we see here is more along the lines of self-medication/therapy and that is why its so sad to see.

  • baltimore is a shxthole i hate that city

  • prohibition does nothing but create a black market that fuels gangs and organized crime. we need to phase in legalization of all drugs, starting with marijuana.

  • Right. We need more addicts.

  • wanna stop the problem ? 1 suggestion. SHUT DOWN THE CIA !!!

  • Monica Villamizar is hot.

  • Legalize all drugs

  • word.

and not so I can do em, either.

to stop the war against our own people.

to stop the criminalization of those who commit "victimless" crimes like drug possession & use.

I recommend that everyone read "Aint Nobody's Business If You Do" by the late great Peter McWilliams. It's a riveting & thorough analysis of the problem from every angle, & on every page there is an interesting/ironic quote from the most far-ranging cultural figures imaginable, a nice touch. On Amazon for $5. ;-) peace
