Is the Blue Devils age-out age older than other corps? Cuz I don't know if it's just me but all of these people look a lot older than the members of some other corps... Like Phantom Regiment and the Cadets look like they have people so much younger...

Obviously you are blind, deaf, or haven't seen there show this year. Its dirty to the max. there brass isn't what it used to be. And you would think with all the staff they have with the percussion line like (tim jackson) (Scott Johnson) they would be able to maybe get a first in that category.....
They sure don't deserve to be siting in first place. Phantom Regiment, The cavailers, Even Carolina Crown should be in front of them. When i saw them in Allentown they so dirty and it sounded horrible. Its one of those times where i liked the show better on recording than in person..
If you added any more visual elements to this show it would become muddy, I saw this live about two or three days ago in Charleston WV. It was mind blowing, wouldn't change a thing.
scott johnson thinks field cymbals are useless too ... which i strongly disagree with. As do i disagree with the negativity towards cavis show which finally did what it should have done at allentown hehe
The Cavies will Plateau. Honestly, I don't like there show because its Called Samurai and there's hardly any use of the pentatonic scale, which is basically what most traditional Japanese music was based on.
Plus their hornline is not as good as BD, Phantom or Carolina Crowns. Towin the title, they'll have to rely on percussion
plus, I never Said field Cymbals were useless, I think SCV Rocks them and always should. But If you've Seen the Devils this year, It's Choc full of visual elements. Its hard enough to keep track of everything thats going on visually as is.
ScoJo said it was because Promark was getting them a better deal. BD is getting royalties directly, so that's more money into food, equipment, and gas on the road. I have two pairs of the new snare sticks, and they're actually really nice.

Guys, JessOnTheRun might not say things in the most polite way, but you have to admit, The Cavaliers have definitely seen better days. Cavies have been my favorite since '99 when I started drumming. I kind of agree. Cavies' show still seems really raw, not to mention it's basically Machine with different music. BD's really getting outside the box here, and they're owning it right now. I've seen it twice in rehearsal and once live, and it's amazing.

They just dropped Aungst and their frontline arranger/tech.
And no one is going to be taking anything lightly.
The Achilles heel of Phantom is Visual.
Always has been. It's what kept them from pulling ahead of BD in 1996 as well.
The Cavaliers have always been a powerhouse but the judges are getting tired of constant eye candy and they're listening for more musical effect now.
Crown, they just keep getting better and better in every way and they have the staff of Star of Indiana on their side.

Guys, JessOnTheRun might not say things in the most polite way, but you have to admit, The Cavaliers have definitely seen better days. Cavies have been my favorite since '99 when I started drumming. These days, it pains me to see them throwing so much dirt. I mean... check out their onfield.. watch?v=Yejn_vQ5qVU . I can only hope they get better. Ancona and Casella are great, extremely talented guys, but something needs to change.

I'm afraid you're a bit misled if that's what you truly believe. They use the exact same judging system, but variances in the actual judges will cause slight differences before head-to-head match-ups. And to describe the corps from the midwest as "lame-ass" just makes me think you're some West Coast fanboy who got cut one too many times. Anyone who's actually marched tends to have respect for other corps . . . .

1.) you are entirely illogical and presumptuous in your summation. Do you even understand and follow your own logic? LOL. 1.)DCM has a notoriously, well established history of inflating scores more than west and east. This is nothing new...I have been a circuit ajudicator for DCM, I know what IM talking about. You cant take any score from different shows and think you are going to compare corps relatively. That's naive. Yeah, I got cut when I marched BD for 2 years, Cadets for 1. OWNED!

How is assuming that someone who over-uses "LOL" and can't follow basic rules of grammar and syntax (as well as blatantly bashes on any corps) is immature illogical? And isn't only logical to assume that immaturity comes with lack of age and experience. I'd much rather you be young and naive than older and as immature as you present yourself. I kind of agree. Cavies' show still seems really raw, not to mention it's basically Machine with different music. BD's really getting outside the box here, and they're owning it right now. I've seen it twice in rehearsal and once live, and it's amazing.
