Heavens to the Marlboro Man! I don't think I've ever seen a movie character smoke as much in a film as Peter does in "Displaced Person". Since we know he was a heavy smoker in real life, I suppose it was just a carryover from his own habits. As an ex-smoker myself, I know how having a cigarette in one's hand can be (in it's own way) very relaxing.
