I prefer this version to the CD...it's more natural, real and organic, sorta like fresh picked fruit not sprayed with herbicide and pesticide. Down with DDT. BTW the slide after every chord just looks cool. I suppose there could be a harmonic in there, but I don't hear it. Check out Andy McKee or type in percussive guitar techniques to see how different "drum" sounds can be made on a guitar.

@rockleemyhero Yes, you are very observant. And you have answered your on question, the slide up the strings is to stop them from vibrating further (he's not pressing down), and the picking hand also mutes (as you had said). It is probably an unconscious motion, just part of his technique, like he doesn't even think about it...he is just 'in the groove'.

Well, that's my take on it, but God knows I have been wrong before, and that I am so thankful for His grace!!

This version of the song is a lot better than the one on the CD. Its amazing how good of a guitar player he is. That coupled with heart felt lyrics and an amazing voice, make it so no modernization or professional recording can compete with his god given talent.

Yes, he is playing past the Capo. I would like someone to tell me if it really is a "Cut Capo" he uses for this song. It must be. I'm trying to learn it for my church, but I can't play without a pick like J.G. here. He's the "MAN"! I'd love to meet him some day.

@Clayman4Christ I think it is a cut capo on the E at the 2nd fret in standard tuning and he plays it in C. Or you could play it without a capo in D and basically get the same effect. If you want the chart send me your email.

@heerofong It is all in the strumming pattern. He is really good, but it shows us everything he's doing here. We can see that the capo is on the 2nd fret and that he goes from a C, to G, to D (but then there is that one 'Em' lookin' thing??)

What I wanna know is why he is reaching over the capo on that one chord?!?! Wouldn't that string, in that position, just sound...idk...dead?? I mean it is behind the capo=nut?!?!

@wyzapple Someone was say that it is a special capo that does not cover a certain string. I think this what an other guitarists was mentioning. The other guitarist was showing on another video what the capo was that Jason was probably using in this. Hope this helps.
