If you cant hear the overcompressed mastering you are not very discriminating in your listening.

A search for "Overcompressed Mastering" surely will give you many results that will explain it.

I think that is probably why I cant listen to the first Daughtry album without getting a headache.

Such a shame that an album from such a fine band (among a world of horrible no-talent bands) is an album that is unlistenable due to the mastering. :(

@SmokeyMcBongH20 It's not the uploader. The CD is a victim of the loudness war. Google it. Basically when it was mastered they tried to make it loud and what it did was clip the high and low parts of the album. What this causes to the sound is a lot of distortion on high and low parts and less dynamic range all because they wanted it louder. There is an unmastered version on the web somewhere that fixes this. But I hope they rerelease it sometime
