  • red alert 2 was my first RTS, then starcraft, and now CnC 3 :D

  • games like red alert and warcraft 1 were the staple of my childhood

  • wish this worked on my xp...sorta miss this game

  • It workt on xp, U need the XP path. type to google Red Alert xp PATH, download it, Change the ra95.exe contabilititi. Workt for me. But its better to run in dos mode.

  • I does work for XP and it's free now :D

  • There is a window's XP compatible full version that you can download on EA's site.

  • Get Command & Conquer: The First Decade. It works on most XP PC's... I have it installed on Windows 7 x64 and it works fine, no glitches (apart from colour issues on the menus).

  • There is no god,

  • Damn to good old times :)

These were the real RTS games.

  • I just looked up how to play this game on Vista, I saw that EA Games made this game FREE due to the release of Red Alert 3!!!! And when you download it, it works for XP and Vista to!!!!!

  • westwood4ever

  • this guy cant play for shite

  • it's a demonstration of the game, not serious.

  • i was only 5 when i began playin this an daddio's pc. Tht russian guys name 'Gradenko' used to make me laugh.

  • y aswome game though old red alert 2 was good also ofc and the newest c&c that came out but the best i think was the tiberium wars

  • this game was cool

  • I LOVE THIS GAME! 3 just came out not to long ago too!

  • lol i member this lvl. This game was the best back then i loved it

  • Man, I wish this game came with a tutorial. I didn't even know those things were turrets until they killed all my guys. Heck, the first time I beat the first level I didn't even realize that I had a stick-figure Einstien in my squad until I sent everyone I obliterated the entire base and sent everyone to the chopper. Lucky the little dink didn't get killed!:P

  • The back of the manual had a tutorial for the first 2 levels.

  • I got the EA promo download, which I don't think came with a manual(or proper install instructions), so no tutorial for me. I don't think I could've followed a written tutorial anyways.

  • lol the civilians

  • My tanya got killed by German shepards :'-( A later level though; I never was ever really good at this game.

  • one of the greatest pc games how was ever made, i played this game a long time, thx westwood

  • does this run fine on dosbox? even the videos?

  • Was released in 1996 :P

And it was kicking ass back then! Damn I have good memories with this game!

  • No, it was 97.

  • This game is my favorite Command & Conquer game of all time. It came out in '99. At least I'm pretty sure. May have been 98.

  • I remember playing this game on the PSX haha. Infact I still have this game for the PSX.

This game was my first strategy based game, and it was the shit ^^

  • @sackTizzle it was the shit and warcraft 2 was the best game ever made after diablo

  • i dident load that long when i played it on win98

  • Well, this was recorded using an emulator, so it might be slower than on a real system.

  • Same with me,now I cant stop playing them:D

  • @19949599 is it possible to run this game on windows 7 ?? cos i love this more than any game in the world

  • Can this game REALLY run on DosBOX? I don't want to screw around getting a old Win95 program to work on this 64-bit system, because anything Win95 and\or otherwise 16-bit programs, will refuse to run, because the dumbass's at Microsoft removed NTVDM and other critical functions from WinXP x64 edition, so all compatibility is broken for me... I hate those assholes..

  • As you can see in this video, it can and it does :)

  • That's awesome. Is the music CD though? I read that EA is providing free .ISO images of the Red Alert 1, but I thought .ISO's don't contain the CD audio?

  • Well, the link in the description leads directly to EA's website where you can get the CD images. The music is stored there as game data, not as separate audio tracks.

  • Woah, holy shit as game data? Are they compressed audio or something?

  • Hm... I never liked RA1, ironically enough. Always preferred C&C1, but this is still better than RA3...

  • I have but only one problem but an excruciatingly painly one with Red Alert, and a bizzare one mind you. The A.I is crippled in skirmish, their knowledge on the tech tree is non-existant being unable to build a radar dome. However if playing an online match with additional A.I opponents they can successfully build just about any structure, how odd that the A.I works signifacantly better during online play. Cherished memories nevertheless Thank you.

  • I love this game. I wish it still worked on my comp. But when i tried to install it, it messed up my Yuri's revenge game. haha you guys are lucky.

  • Lulz, i just found out that i've got this game lying around in a box for decades xD

  • I have this on the first decade.

  • ahh i see

  • Oh yeah, I forgot I actually downloaded this when they were releasing RA3. I should really give it a go. Back in those days we didn't have all the activation kind of crap.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • I wish my red alert would work well on xp, did you have to get the no cd patch for the dos version to work in dosbox?

  • Nope, it works perfectly well after mounting the CD images in DOSBox. Just use the imgmount command :)

  • I have the actual disc, I didn't download it.

    I forgot to mention.

  • Their is a method to install and play Red Alert in XP. First of all find to the installation or setup.exe file located on the CD drive, changing the compatibility setting to "Windows 95" will trick the installation program into thinking your using an old OS. Next search for "Strike Team XWIS" on Google. If my memory serves you have to locate a file called thipx32.dll on their website which allows RA to run through Windows.

  • ah, your my savior for this game, thanks much

  • Glad to be of assistance :]
