  • The only part that isn't so great is you have a cardboard box wrapped in tinfoil on display like the Mona Lisa.

  • This is awesome. Waaay better than spending $75 bucks on a wifi range extender (which i have that works great) you could also put copper coils around the wifi card on that desktop u hav and it would help to this is only good on desktops and older models since the wifi card has an antenna on the outside. This would also b good on a x360 cuz it has the antenna sticking out

  • you are fucking awesome i will pick a small box and do this because my router just have 1 antena =DDDDDDDDDDD

  • b = bits, B = Bytes.... Big difference.

  • Boosting a signal requires a signal amp with its own power source bidirectional, it comes mostly in 2.4Ghz generally, but there are 5Ghz versions. You just created a poor-man's backfire antenna, which basically takes the stray signals from the omni-directional antenna and reflects it towards your laptop, thus increasing signal efficiency. You just increase signal efficiency, not boosted signal strength. Oh btw, there are 8 bits in a 1 byte, therefore your 54Mbit/s is really only 6.75MByte/s.

  • HOW the fuck do you make Aluminum reflect Magnetic fields! !!!!

  • @MrExillion the aluminum has to be what 1 foot thick?`......the frequenzy.... well i suppose it is possible, try use a microwave with Aluminum inside it.... Happy NewYear!

  • @MrExillion all kinds of metals reflect magnetic fields.

  • Yes, this should work (assuming aluminum reflects wifi light-waves). It would work a heck of a lot better if the foil were mounted on a perabila like a satellite dish. With the antenna insulated from the back, and positioned where the receiver is. p.s. though; I don't know how well aluminium foil reflects wifi. You might have to find a better substrate.

  • BTW, if you REALLY want to boost your wifi signal, check if your Wifi router can install Tomato, and then you can boost your signal past the manufacturer specifications.

When doing this, make sure your router is in a well ventilated area and it may help to place it upside down so the added heat can escape out of the ventilated bottom more efficiently.

  • You can tell the video poster realizes that he is simply turning an omnidirectional receiver into a somewhat directional one with a makeshift dish to boost the signal in the direction needed.

  • This dude is retarded, do not take any tech advice from someone this idiotic!!

  • This is completely wrong way!!! You have inserted fading in the channel and the quality of communication is the worst it could be. The signal has corrupted. In any case we don't measure only the SNR. SNR is a parameter that show us the MODULATION that will be used and the power of the transmission. But the latency and packet loss because of signal deformity are the most important parameters that we check. And yes, you didn't do anything for signal boost. In addition, you corrupted it. I'm sorry!

  • works great! stream movies on my kindle fire from my room accross the house. i use to lose signal every 5 or ten minutes just watched a full movie no lost signal.

  • Thanks, it works perfectly!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Retard. u guys really believe of the reflect thingy? even if it can be reflected, how do you know its the CORRECT DIRECTION where the wave travel. ROFL. IDIOT...

  • You understand that 36mbps or 48 or 54 makes NO difference to the speed of your internet right? You internet pipe will probably be 5 or 10 mbps at the best, so unless you are transferring blu ray movies between machines on your internal network, this boost will not be noticeable in any way.

  • @aegisgfx that's wrong. u shouldn't make extremely opinionated comments on something you don't completely understand, it will usually lead to embarrassment. As a matter of fact, it will increase the upload/download speed, without a doubt. Stronger signal, means more efficient data transfer.

  • @baitscene

total bullshit, the internet moves files at a fifth of the speed of your internal network, even if you have a 24mbps wireless thats still well over twice the max speed you can download at on 99% of residential connections. Fuck people are idiots with technology.

  • @aegisgfx I understand your logical process of putting two and two together. But you are dead wrong. Wireless is slower than Ethernet connection. The process of data transfer in not as efficient, and your upload/download speed is affected, so fuck you, asshole.

  • @aegisgfx The non-amusing portion (reading your plainly "dim" words and wondering what their actual purpose was. Are you just always negative unless it is "your" idea? In actuality this does work and with some adjusting corner placment by as much as 17/20% steady increase in signal strength. Before you burst another blood vessel make absolutely certain you build the unit according to the easy plans and only then write more words commentating on the topic. Work to make positive results

  • Why do they make routers with a signal so weak you have to be sitting right next to it anyways? Whats the fucking point??

  • What if i dont have any antennas in my wifi router

  • omg my speed is 54 mbps without redirecting

  • how do i boosted my internet speed?

download all kinds of shit, wont give a fuck if u got a blue screen, ask jesus, make a vid how u do it n thada xDDDD

  • I've used a similar 'reflector' for my Linksys for two or three years. Mine is curved and not as large but it is basically the same thing AND it does work.

  • You can also hack the firmware and overclock your router much like you can overclock your router. This will be able to increase the speed up to 2 times more. You also have to place a fan underneath your router for extra cooling though. Look up DD-WRT for more info.

  • hukiful upgrade

  • Dude, thanks for this. :)

  • Comment removed

  • thats Megabits,,,not bytes

  • Nice job man that cool :)

  • This guy does not know what he is talking about! This is not boosting your signal, it's just redirecting it, and it makes very little difference to the signal. And also Mbps is not MEGABYTES PER SECOND, it is Megabits per second. What an idiot!

  • @SoulfulStu congratulations?

  • @justj99XX WTF?

  • Really Thank you,,

  • my internet says its 54 mbps but when i download a 50mb file it takes minutes?

  • @roflboy56 your prob. using like youtube or Facebook while downloading stuff. if you close everything and download like a movie clip or song it will be faster

  • @roflboy56 If your connection says 54Mbps, it is not MEGABYTES PER SECOND. If it was a 50MB file you was downloading, that is why it took minutes and not seconds.

  • @roflboy56 the 54Mbps is the connection between your computer and the router not your actual internet speed

  • Very good id. I have a big house and from 0 bar I now have 2 bar. This is on my iPhone & iPad . Thanks man.

  • You didn't boost your signal, you simply redirected it. *sigh*

  • @RuggerDucky lulz

  • @RuggerDucky Proper redirection can result in increased (boosted) signal. *sigh*

  • @alamoghost No, it can't. It results only in redirected signal---which can increase the range in a particular direction. It does not boost (amplify) the signal. The signal is not increased, it simply changes the directional range.

  • Comment removed

  • @alamoghost youre an idiot

  • help some my foot lol it helps completely

  • yeah that work two for the tv

  • which paper you used what's it name papers????

  • @490fight it's aluminium foil paper, you can get it in any supermarket, it's used to wrap food, for barbecuing more delicate foods such as mushrooms and vegetables.

  • wireless router? LMAO! a router is made to be wireless silly guy. Or it would be a hub silly guy.

  • @AnoNAnnunaKiHacker Most routers are not wireless. Wireless does not determine whether or not device is a hub or a router. "Silly guy". Read up

  • @AnoNAnnunaKiHacker No man, a router only redistributes the data. Doesn't have to be with Wi-Fi.

  • my ps3 is upstairs will it still work

  • MegaBITS, not megabytes. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Bothers me to no end.

    -little "b" in Mbps = megaBITS /sec

    -big "B" in MBps = megaBYTES /sec

  • @firedragoncow1234 NO Shit!! who gives a fuck anyways

  • @firedragoncow1234

I tried telling this guy he was retarded, he called me an asshole... so whatever.

  • @aegisgfx You tried to tell him he was retarded? He called you an asshole? The nerve of that guy! Now when you say '''tried", am I to understand that you were unsuccessful? Were you unable to formulate the words correctly? I know, keyboard malfunction! Argh! I hate when that happens! Try again. I hate when I ''try" to berate total strangers and they are unreceptive. Don't they understand that I'm smarter than they are? Isn't Narcissism fun? Good Luck!

  • You must have a big house if your rooms are a hundred feet away from each other. Great vid though

  • Great vid. Would you know how to extend the signal with routers that have internal antennas? i.e. I have the Linksys WRT610N. Thanks in advance.

  • @trinhk Same trick should work. Just mount your router vertically somewhere that you have a reflector behind it. :)

  • Great now your son will see celebrety porn 3 times as fast :D thanks for the idea man

  • Very nice, but u may now know that aluminium with circled shape give's more power to your signal for understandable reason's....

  • i have the exact same router wow

  • @s4moanxb3ast Cool right! It's almost like they mass produce them or something 8D.

  • I used an old metal lampshade and out my wireless USB adapter inside it and hung it on an outside window with a suction cup & hook. Boosted my wireless signal from 29% to 52% from my neighbors router 200 feet away down the street.

  • Awesome trick!

  • :D

i just got 10 bunny ears 4 tv's hoocked them together and now i can go 20000 feet and still use my wifi connection :D IM ACCUALY LETTIN PEEPS USE IT FOR 5 DOLLARS A DAY :D

  • here's my problems. 1. my connection is so slow it'd take a half an hour to load a two minute video 2. the internet goes out often so it'd probably not even load 3. the only way it won't go out is if i sit crunched up and balance it on my knee and look up at it, and my neck hurts enough from my construction job 4. i don't have a wireless router, i use a free one that somebody else owns but has no password on it. how do i make my laptops wireless signal stronger?

  • @BGDD27 lol.... u don't... cause you have to have something not nothing to start from rofl~!

  • @BGDD27 Make a windsurfer type signal booster, put it on your receiver antenna and point it at the router. If you dont know where the router is just turn the thing small bit at a time untill you have the best signal :)

Also what you going to do when that person finds out and puts a password on his router ^^ ?

  • Or you could just run a wire....

  • Buy a 10 watt booster

  • that's actually genius. And it does make sense.

  • /watch?v=odTeqBOkUdA

    try this !!

    workd Perfect

aaah it made my day :D

  • Oh yeah, I almost forgot. To make this more effective you need this at both ends, remember that your computer has to transmit back to you router also.

  • Now you don't even have to be this creative? I just went to the Dollar Tree and picked up two aluminum trays for a dollar and bingo, works just fine. Anyone with doubts I can assure you that I was a technician in the Navy for 6 years.

  • /watch?v=odTeqBOkUdA

    works great

    MADE MY DAY !!

  • @psiddhant stop advertising your own vid -_-

  • @MeteolicMetagross , sorry dear!

  • GREAT!

Now your son can sneak porn twice as fast :D

  • @MyPSPHelper LMAO!!!!

  • Thanks for the video. I did this to my Linksys router that is in a closet and now I get constant signal on the other side of my house on the 2nd floor. I also put aluminum foil above the router on some shelves to help reflect the signal down into the house. Thanks for the idea.

  • Any ideas for if your router does not have an antenna ?

  • @eilishxxx98 use the whole thing

  • @juplm4000 use what ?

  • @eilishxxx98 put foil around the whole box thing

  • @eilishxxx98 It has an antenna but it's internal. You can try doing something similar, except making your "satellite dish" surround your router....don't wrap it in foil. lol

  • Nice. I'm going to try it out this afternoon !

  • yeah nice idea how to ruin your wall

  • best thing is that put ur psp or laptop on top of the anteena

  • 48 megabits.... not bytes

  • mega bits not bytes

  • II just jury rigged a sheet of pop up aluminum foil on either antenna and doubled my transfer rates between router and bedroom computer...

  • lolz jizz staains on your kids comp.

  • where boost

  • thanks for your idea and for your time to post

  • Good to know. Thanks for posting!

  • If you look at his router those are not the stock antennas so that is why he is getting pretty damn good signal at 100ft if the router had the org antenna at 100ft you could not even conntect to that old linksys router

  • THNX A Lot. This made my signal go from 50mbps to 100mbps

  • just move closer to the nearest McDonalds...FREE WIFI

  • @beachbummm69 in germany you hsve in every mcdonalds free wifi for an hour

  • @beachbummm69 and what is the speed download?

  • use cable connections :)

  • my wifi has 7 internal antennas so i cant do this.but very kool idea.thumbs up tho..

  • wow man! your room sucks alot! weres your tv? weres your bed? wait is this youre living room?

  • @carlos125441

Pretty sure that's an office room. His living room is where his laptop was.

  • Its all about geometry plus bit of knowledge of waves propagation! Good Job

  • @marek007able if you know all about this why did you watch this video?

  • @marek007able smartass

  • Thank you, great idea

  • THANK YOU FROM GERMANY

  • works now I can get wifi downstairs

  • good job man i did this aswell.. aimed it right at my xbox now i have perfect connection all the way across the house. people on youtube need to stop hating so much. at least he is trying to help.. it is basic physics though. appreciate it freebird.

  • Not MegaBYTE it is MegaBIT! and it doesnt metter if you dont have dsl 50.000 or more!

  • smart

  • if u got no antenas or just one try putting it in aluminium foil all together, that way people will actually see what u're really made of.... just a hint it's (cr@p)

  • I have to try this

  • thankyou sir

  • so what abt those wth only one antenna??

  • @NickDawg59 I know how you feel. I've been with so many other technologically impaired people.

  • MEGA BITS!!! this is the most annoying thing ever!!!! lowercase b is bits, uppercase B it bytes.

    B = BYTES!!!!!!!!

    b = BITS!!!!!!!!!

  • @NickDawg59 you might want to find something that matters to complain about.

  • @photoguymacon Misinforming people is worthy of complaining, when I'm selling a computer and I tell someone the memory runs at 1600GHz, then we have a problem since it actually runs at 1600MHz. Bits and bytes are not the same. I shouldn't have put all those exclamation points, I understand that was a bit harsh, but people need to understand this stuff before posting because it is misleading. i wish i could get my network to run at 54megabytes per second.

I apologize for being a jerk,.

  • @NickDawg59

This is one of only a very few times that I've seen someone apologize for something they said! Good on ya man. I mean it + not trying to sound sarcastic.

  • ok what about a no antenna one?

  • your sons computer has jizz stains

  • mega BITS per second, stupid inbred red neck!

  • lol a mini satellite dish, easy to make and cool and works but i have no need... if u fibd a way to reseve better wifi then tell me cus i dont got a router or wire i bounce a signle

  • i tried this and then i stopped getting any signal at all, then i took it off and it started working again...

  • @niggerhigger1030

You probably put it in a way that it does the opposite, it blocks where the wireless is supposed to transmit and transmits only to the opposite way. Try changing the side you put it on.

  • Everyone that doesn't thumbs up, loves a q p

  • I feel like a such a red neck but this seriously works!

  • Now I can steal your internet! You sad that you have 54 megabytes per second? Are you stupid? That are not megabytes, that are megaBITS per second.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrTpengineer They are not remotely the same. It is an honest mistake, but it's not OK to purposely be stupid. Especially when you can google the shit.

  • 0:35 it´s highly important to show us your big ass tv :D i feel you man...

  • megabit

  • How To Hack Wireless(PROGRAMMING - UPGRADE)

  • Life saver, Thank you very much.

  • I have only one thing to say to you sir, u r awesome. My room is about 12meters from my router, so on my iphone i got only 1bar. Now i get 2bars steady and ocasionally going up to the full 3bars, youtube videos stream quite quick now, but before it was impossible to watch. I even have signal on the balcony for the first time ever, thank you so much, works great and only took 5min of my time ;)

  • smart idea actually! I tried and it works. Thanks Freebird98*

  • Very Good Work for Me thanks

  • omfg i have the same laptop

  • was that computer at the end 7 days running?

  • i made this but it has no flaps all closed in does it effect the dish if its all closed? because i get like 3 bars at max but it fluxuates from 2-3 bars my router is downstairs also what do i do?

  • @Kingthug25 Make a Dish like a Sate-light dish, But make it facing straight up!

  • Worked for me did a slightly different "dish"

  • Yeah the signal bars looks real....

and look's like this trick not the only one in you tube...

  • @th3g4mbl3r1 ah i love sceptics who are too lazy to experiment, i have a similar home made booster and it works. Why? because rather then sit on my ass thinking i know it all i went and tried it..

  • @th3g4mbl3r1 ah i love sceptics who are too lazy to experiment, i have a similar home made booster and it works. Why? because rather then sit on my ass thinking i know it all i went and tried it..

  • before you say that it doesnt work ask yourself. do you know how an antenna works?

  • DOSENT WORK!

  • THIS DOSENT WORK !

  • @sijenkinson1 Sure it does. Basic physics.

  • megaBITS! NOT megaBYTES.

  • @AlexanderA80 bytes

  • @GREENABBYBOO kill yourself.

  • @AlexanderA80 lol

  • Never trust a tech video when the author doesn't know the difference between BITS and BYTES.

  • @kn4w Never trust you because you don't know the difference between computer science and physics

  • You all haters are dumb.!!!

    This actualy works!

  • its not aluminum foil... its FFFFOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL. YEEEEEE haaaaaawwww

  • *IT IS NOT* megabytes - it is MEGABITS which is completely different. The same as the way super-fast broadband which is not so fast is advertised! Companies now say "20 MEG" in place of 20megabits per second for example, which only relates to 2MB/s.

So yours will run at 5MB/s at the most allowing for overheads.

It's no wonder you do not understand much about RF.

  • @urbex2007

Dude who gives a shit? You know what he means and thats all that matters

  • It's because the metal plane reflected all the signals towards the laptop rather than penetrated to the concrete wall.....

  • aloominum

    say it ho its wrote

    allaminium

  • @sijenkinson1 its not wrote its written you fagget

  • @grekodave its wrote if u allready done it "faggot" it is wrote FAGGOT

    u fukin faggot

also it took u a while

also i was stating a fact u just being plain rude no need for it faggot

    thanks mwax

  • @sijenkinson1 its not written fukin its fucking,

look at that we're all learning

  • Megabits, not megabytes.
