  • Thank you for the Review of the Radio....Central Minnesota will be getting our first DSTAR repeater here soon provided we get enough operators interested.

  • whare is the menufacterd ?

  • @2back2 It is made in Japan, by Icom.

  • i am considering buying an ICOM IC-2820.

your video has now made me give it serious consideration

Now you have owned the IC-2820 for some time can you tell me

how do you find it are there any problems you have come across

    Nice video

  • @1SoundBlaster I love it still. The only thing I would change is, make it able to plug in the data cable for DRats without having to remove the control head.

  • hello im new to the whole radio thing and im just wondering can this radio be used for jut scanning say like vhf?

    thanks

  • @250quadzilla Sure. An expensive scanner though. The tech ham license is very easy. The study book is only a quarter of inch thick and you will have a reason to have the radio in your car. You should try to get your license.

  • @Gorntz Exactly!

  • Hi There, the radio looks nice, however I've heard reports of very loud fan noise and can hear that in your review. Maybe you had the radio out on the desk next to the camera - not sure but the fan did sound very loud. Is it really that bad?

  • Comment removed

  • @vk3crg Seemed louder in the video. Never noticed when talking on it. It does have fan speed settings in the menu. I keep it on auto.

  • of course AM is for the airbrand

  • Is the UT-123 DV/GPS unit needed with this transceiver to use D-Star?

  • @Stormtrooper271 Absolutely, and it cost about 250 bucks. Sorry about that.

  • Thanks for the flowers on my videos. I am trying to improve the video quality by not doing videos live as Ustream and YouTube as they limit my video quality due to my bandwidth. Your video quality is very professional looking.

    Tom

  • @hamrad88 Well, the secret is lights. Get a shoplight, or two, on a stand and shine them in your face.... like Hollywood :)

  • Exellent video. What camera are you using?

    Tom

  • @hamrad88 Sony Handycam DCR-SR82. Love your vids Tom... 73

  • Oh man.. that cross band repeat feature has me sold..

great overview.. but I can see I still have a LOT to learn

  • @GearBuyersGuide Oh, and to set the hook, if you get the MARS/CAP modification, say from theantennafarm(dot)com, you could talk to all your buddies on the MURS, FRS, and other Itenerants even in x-band on those missions... in an emergency of course.... ;)

  • Thanks for the review. Wiping the drool off the keyboard.

  • that's a great rig you got there! Great overview video.
