  • Truly Amazing.

  • Either this or Candidate should be a campaign song.

  • would have been good on that movie atomic Cafe in my opinion!

  • Don't go on to a video leaving a comment that says "0 dislikes...WOOHOO" because that will give someone a reason to ruin that joy and 2 seconds later, it's 250 likes & 1 dislike.....morons, come on, think about it!

  • I disliked this to be an annoying ass, even though i like the song :)

  • @ElvisFerdinand And you're proud of yourself, moron?

  • @ElvisFerdinand *sad face*

  • 0 dislikes ;]

  • @shonawilleatyou shh, don't say that, trolls will dislike it

  • The beeb version is better, more piano.

  • I could swear I have heard this song many times, many places. Funny it's an outtakes

  • Ok (40years = life sentence)

  • I like it when it goes

    All clear with the sirens

    (bomb bomb bomb)

    Sunshine on the wasteland

    (bomb bomb bomb)

Old man sitting in the white sand

    (bomb bomb bomb)

Think where in for a big surprise

    Right between the eyes-s

Why listen to the new music shit when there's good old David Bowie, the who, led Zeppelin, Kaiser Chiefs, France Ferdanan, the Beatles, the Jam, electric light orcastre (E.L.O), Eels, Deep purple etc

  • @Toblarone1200 Franz Ferdinand isn't THAT old

  • I know this song of by heart even the bit where it goes

But a solider said "sir, there's a crack in the world"

    Ever spent spok?

The Brits flew for and wide

    How the universe sighed

  • I'm British I get the right to use the word "cobblers" well every-one does but I say it better (accent).....

  • @Toblarone1200 bullocks you tit! (how's that?... you brits have way better ways of saying things like bullshit or fuck off. My buddy moved there 10 years ago and now he talks like that).

  • @Greesovith

    A-bombs, h-bombs

Even very small ones ripped apart that sand

Till the stench was just revolting

    The sky a greenish tan

  • @Toblarone1200 Yeah: by the English in the South Australian desert 1952-63... first bombs in the AIR... fried aborigines; soldiers were told: if you tell your families you will either hang or get 30 years.

  • I feel like this song should be on School House Rock.

  • Love it <3

  • Die said the general

    *Cobblers said the man

So the Pentagon sent a cable

    And the Queen a telegram

*Loves the use of the word Cobblers

  • Such a shame...! Why is this amazing song unreleased?

  • Hi I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite David Bowie song in the whole Universe.

  • @TRAdamTM is that a sarcastic comment or its true?

  • COBBLERS is now my favorite word.

  • after i got Bowie at the beeb and heard this one, I almost stopped breathing greatest Bowie song ever. So freakin cheery and it got a message!

  • I really enjoy this song. It is really catchy. Bowie is just great.

  • He was right it leave this off the album. It's not bad, but it's not up to the standards set by one of his greatest albums; it would have been more fitting on Space Oddity or Man Who Sold the World.

  • what the fuck happens at 1:14 to 1:19 . Dammit :b oh well.. fuck it!

  • @Greesovith A bombs H bombs even very small ones ripped apart that sand, till the stench was just revolting, and the sky a greenish tan.

  • @Greesovith Bowie was recording his vocal when the producer held up a sign saying THE STUDIO IS ON FIRE!

  • oh that makes sense it's an outtake because I don't remember this one.

  • Die said the general

    Cobblers said the man.

    Awesome

  • @movieonyoureyelids Dont you mean favorite song OFF Hunky Dory ?

  • A Bombs! H Bombs! Even very small ones!

  • I love this song! I didn't even know it existed until now and it's fantastic <3

  • GREAT!! I thought I heard all the Bowie stuff from this period. A nice surprise!!!

  • Its amazing! If you click at "HQ" the sound-quality is so much better!

  • My favourite Bowie-Non-Album-Track! :) :)

  • q ermozo kantha... lo0 amo0

    s2

  • sounds alot like queen, good song

  • @TheRideArounds Think so ? I dont hear that myself.

  • CANCION DE 1971

  • The offbeat drumming in this is eargasmic!

  • pilot felt quite big time

  • Im discovering more and more of Bowie's music by the day - great stuff :-)

  • " Seemed a good idea to drop a bomb on the waste-land, yeah

    it was positively queer

    how the universe sighed "

Such a great lyrics ! God how good he was at that time !!

  • @pinkflud And to think he was high for a good portion of the 70s

  • BOMB! BOMB! BOMB! one of the best songs ever! i love you bowie :o)

  • Happiest track about armageddon ever

  • @PompadourSamurai isn' t it just

  • @PompadourSamurai

I don't know, 'We Are Hungry Men' is pretty up beat. I suppose that isn't necessarily about Armageddon.

  • @PompadourSamurai Andrew Bird's "Tables and Chairs" is a pretty close second. =)

  • an instant wild electric jolt of sure-fire fun from the very first note. catchy, coy, flirtatious, hard, and utterly irresistible. thanks.

  • There was an American band called Bullet who had a one hit wonder back in '71 called White Lies Blue Eyes....sounds just like Bowies song Bombers.

  • The chorus does sound like the beginning of Bombers, but I don't think it's a big deal. If I were a musical artist, it would be hard for me to come up with melodies that didn't sound like another song.

  • yeah ! I totally agree with you , the rawness and joyfulness at the same time , plus the weird lyrics bowie always used

  • XD this is awesome!

    Love that last note!

  • Me tooo!!!! I always sing along XD

  • fave bowie song

  • I cant figuer why both this and Velvet Goldmine, two of Bowies coolest and most original songs from this era, were excluded from the initial cut of that album wheres a dud like Song For Bob Dylan, one of Bowies WORST songs ever, DID get included?! Hmmm Go figuer. He's been performing these two gems though at some of his recent concerts I understand, wich makes me hapy.

  • I agree... And I read that this song (Bombers) was left out and replaced with Fill Your Heart (which is not even Bowie's - it's a cover)... That's one of my least favourites off Hunky Fory... It would've been much better with Bombers!!

Velvet Goldmine? Never heard it, will look it up.

  • Sorry I meant Hunky Dory rofl

  • Yeah, I think Velvet Goldmine is an outtake from the Ziggy Stardust sessions.

  • Fill Your Heart is quality.

The worse one for me (although Bombers deserves to be on over Sonf For Bob Dylan) is 'It Ain't Easy' in front of Velvet Goldmine on Ziggy. it Ain't Easy is also a cover, but isn't as good a choice for Ziggy. Fill Your Heart fits in nicely after Quicksand on Hunky Dory if you ask me.

  • I agree on both choices.

  • I agree with you. But I also think Song for Bob Dylan is quality.Bowie is so versatile that people like you will talk shit about one song while being able to love others..and forget that it's all BOWIE.If you love BOWIE for who he is before simply loving what he's made then you can start by saying"In my PERSONAL opinion.etc.But if you just love Bowie's songs before loving Bowie than your appreciation of his music is worthless.Forget your head and you'll be free yeaThe writing on the wall.

  • Agreed, when you love an ARTIST then you at least appreciate everything made by that peron. This is an amazing song and everything Bowie has done, musical or not is amazing. Even if I do not particularly care for it I can at least recognize thetalent and brains put into it.

Not that theres many Bowie things i dislike, lol :)

  • This song was recorded in 1971 during the sesions wich culminated in the album 'Hunky Dory, yet was initialy left off, but was finaly included on the CD version of that album nearly twenty years later!

  • good song.. spices up the album nicely :-)

  • this song was released on a promo disc with a remix of eight line poem on the other side. i love eight line poem, and i really want to hear the remix. does anyone know where i could find a recording of it online?

  • Bomb-bomb-bomb-bomb! I discovered this song when MIT's college radio station had a whole "bomb theme" after the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Lite-Brite bomb threat swept through Boston in 2007.

  • wow. i won't compare this with "Bombers" on "Bowie At The Beeb", because i think both versions are great... but i agree with Manwithcam, this would have been awesome on "Hunky Dory"!

  • i loooooooove david bowie so much!

    love this song too

  • One of the catchiest early Bowie tracks. Would have been the most catchy on Hunky Dory, I think. To bad it wasn't used.

  • @Manwithcam it was on the version of hunky dory I have

  • @Manwithcam it was on the version of hunky dory I have

    and The bewley brothers

  • I'm 29 but I bought this album (with Bombers as a bonus track) like ten years ago...I remember really digging this song back in 1998or so. Thank you SO much for posting this (coincidentally, it was like JUST posted a couple of weeks ago, and I just searched for this for the first time this evening...thanks again).

  • i fking love this record should of been on the lp.
