  • My favorite Fela track along with "Suffering and smiling"

  • Fela was to have come to California-Los Ángeles in 1984 Govt. held Him !

  • fela..nor mind dem....na beef dem dey beef...tell 'em say make dem go buy gala..dier papa no fit afford car plus lorry wen 'mama' been drive that tyme...

  • FUCK OBASAJO

  • Without a doubt, Baba 70, as he was fondly called by lovers of his music in Nigeria was a genius.

  • This song is moving me to tears at "Dem kill my Mama" Fela's mother is one of the influential nigerian women. She is the pioneer of Women empowerment, she stopped Egba women from paying taxduring her time. The first Nigerian woman to drive a lorry and truck. She was an idealogist that drove a whole king to abdicate his throne. It is sad that Nigeria military government were run by vagabonds and bunch of military tyrants in power. It is time Nigeria government re-open the case and compensate

  • Until the Nigerian government officially apologizes and pay reparations to the Kuti family...

  • This is the best track of Fela ever. So much emotion. I cried my eyes out the first time I heard this track back while I was just 8 years. Now I am in my 30s, still feel that emotion. So much injustice exhibited in this track. Fuck Obusanjo

  • this is coooool!

  • Been a Fela fan since 1985, when KNON 89.3 in Dallas, Tx had "The African Hour", on-the-air from 11am- 12noon. Super heavyweight music !

  • IT WILL BE A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY IF SOMEONE DIES WITHOUT LISTENING TO FELA

  • 1 DEAF PERSON WHO DOES NOT COMPREHEND THE IDEOLOGY OF FELA...

  • fela said it all

    we get unknown civilian ?

today we still have unknowing parties

    dem turn green into red

    PDP style

  • oki

  • Baba kUTI RIP

  • gratest pioneer from africa hands down

  • if they gave him a grammy they'de b saying he was right-so they play him at braodway-mf's if fela knew that all he fought for was to be exploited on braodway he'd turn in his grave rip baba

  • why didn't FELA get a GRAMMY? or NOBEL recognition?

    Crazy world!

  • i'm white, english and grew up listning to fela...................i now know the truth-i'll never stop fighting for whats right.

  • @hillbillybat God bless you, Nigerian government are terrible they dont him to freedom of speech and they killed his mom because he was going after them for the wrong they do.

  • @princessadekunbi1 And what a shame ..i remember his mother and my Mom were members of the Nigerian women's Organization i still remember ..they travelled to the then Soviet Union Moscow they met Mrs Valentina Thereshkova the first Woman in Space (Cosmonaut) in 1968....

  • @hillbillybat God bless you, Nigerian government are terrible they dont him to freedom of speech and they killed his mom because he was going after them for the wrong they do. It is okay they did not give him any Grammy or Nobel recognition. They saw him as a tyrant if not i believe if there is any recognition greater than the two mentioned, he deserves it. His mother is one of the women pioneer for Nigeria.

  • It's a shame that Africa still lags behind after Great men like Feli & others worked so hard to enlighten Africans.

  • At time good things dont last long, BABA should nt have died, but he has played his part and left a very BIG shoe behind which nobody can wear forever

BABA you live on, we still dey feel you for real

  • This song is, arguably, the best modern song to have emanated from AFRICAAA!

R.I. P Baba!!! You are FOREVER with us! Can I get an amen?

Your songs will be filling the background when we march on Aso Rock to wrest control of our Country(Nigeria) from the current crop of "kleptocrats." Amen!

  • God blessed baba fela, purnishment will be on Oba and babangida

  • God blessed baba fela, purnish will be Oba and babangida

  • Comrade Fela,

If you see wetin dey happen for 9ja nowww, yeepaa! You go just...just tireeee! You no go fit look and laugh oooh! Dem pull CBN Governor up because him say 25% of National budget in 2010 na him National Assembly cost us...and almost similar figures in '09 and '08!

Comrade Fela, things fall apart, BIG TIME! R.I.P, amen!!!

  • I was so gladdened to hear that OBJ was giving a good thumping at the Airport. All these murdering, power-drunk, pen-robbers, that have raped our beloved Country should be stripped naked whereever they are seen!!! AMEN!!!!!

The poor Nigerian will know justice ONE DAY!!!

  • The "original" Black President! I salute!!! R.I.P! Amen!!!! You are forever in our thoughts and memories. Your prophecies have come to pass - Nigeria is in turmoil and headed for the abyss. You and Gani are forever with us, R.I.P to the both of you, AMEN!!!

  • God will forever punish OBJ and him descendants, Amen!!! That Otta ape's goons threw Fela's mum out of a window! The first woman to drive in Nigeria! A learnered woman- one of a very few of her generation!! A woman at the forefront of our independence struggle!!! God will forever punish you and your family, OBJ(Otta goat). Ditto IBB(dickhead).

  • What can I say. God bless baba

  • thank you baba70

  • BOB MARLEY SAID WHEN MUSIC HITS YOU YOU FEEL NO PAIN.BUT I FEEL SO MUCH PAIN WITH THIS TUNE. WE CANT BLAME ANYONE BUT OURSELVES ,TO ALLOW SUCH TREATMENT OF GOVENMENT POLITICAL ENEMIES IS WRONG.IT SHOWS THAT WE NEED TO BECOME MORE POLITICALLY MATURE.

  • I have been looking for this for many yrs since d 70s, thanks for putting, i am one of the first african americans who came familiar with fella. thanks you , i have turned so many friends onto him we had planned to go to see him and roy ayers but you know that story. this is the message that we should be aware of so that we can see your struggles or out struggle, and unite as one. thaank

  • Fast forward to present times; Citizens herded out, lined up at summerilly executed in Jos. witnesses, some with cameras, notwithstanding. Fela must be rolling over in his grave.

  • Comment removed

  • @plasmatv. You are absolutely correct. Atrocities still going on in that country!!! Sad, sad, sad!!!

  • jubu jubu jubu jubu

  • wow the people that say the true dont stay long in Nigeria.

  • baba 1 of africa

  • E ba mi eda...

  • i'm so sorry he went through such a tragedy in the hands of soldiers who were supposed to be protecting his country..so sorry.

  • Right now... I sit reading a book, my 4 year old daughter sits painting pictures with her paints.... (20 something tune of a playlist)

    Everyday I trod with FELA.....

Bless his SOUL and ours for connecting with Him.....

(Love to a "Nago" - From A "Saro")

  • @hotstuff9ENX

Yes he did..he sang that they were "f**k some of the women by force".......

  • Yes...he sang that they were "f**k women by force...."

  • @hotstuff9ENX ...yup. "Them dey f*ck, some of the women by force"

  • An illustrious African son. Love and Respect.

.....Rest in Peace ... we love you, but sadily God loves you more... Great song. Listen to 3:40, Thats was really touching, HE was speechless for few seconds..This song is Timeless!

  • YORUBA forever, this is the essence of a culture that transcends all victimization. Omo Oodua always distinguishes themselves. Fela is just one of the many great omo Oduduwa who shines in the international world : SADE Adu is another so is Tunde Baiyewu of the light house family.

  • @medbuk80 AGREED! I HAD FRIENDS FROM CUBA AND BAHIA(BRAZIL) WHO LOVE AND CHERISH THE YORUBA CULTURE! IN FACT, I SHALL ALWAYS HAVE THIS AFINITY AND CLOSENESS TO THE PEOPLES OF CUBA, PARTS OF BRAZIL , AND TRINIDAD! LOVE TO YOU ALL AFRICANS IN DIASPORA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • long live baba!

  • RIP Rasta Kuti baba 70 RIP

  • baba is a legend,,,,,no be every talk be talk....talk pass talk...and baba dey yaaarrrrrnnnnnnn

    wha da furuukkkk

  • Speak Fela!

  • I don't know how to start. I love Fela you the best ever human right activist in Nigeria. We need another Fela......... RIP Baba 70

  • unknown soldier indeed

  • Fela forever - great greater greatest

  • I love all Fela massive chuunes and their wicked ridims, but the ridims of this track and the lyrics are soooooo rich, beautiful, sassy, voluptous, full of character, attitude and class. The first 10 secs just grab u by d balls or tits n u know u been had by this massive track. Aaaaaa, sho sho sho aaaaaa.....

  • baba sege lucky sha! had fela still been alive when he came back for his recent infamous rule naija for no contain both of them. the yabbies for too much. or fela would have done the eight years behind koro doors (cell) for there to be peace. but injustice dey our country sha. many things just happen, NOBODY can talk. a big pity! so many innocent people killed, killers walk away scott free.

  • i love how this brother mixes jazz grooves with west african juju vocal rythms in syncopation. anyone who ever has done voodoo drumming or played pentecostal organ knows that this combination is powerful magic! that rythm can induce some deep trance states if you just listen and follow it. if legba were invoked into this along with the right loa (orisha) black people could conquer the world.

  • @oldschoolsituationz you are absolutely right, drum has some spiritual power to it. You are so funny am laughing with all you wrote about voodoo and orisa.

  • Rest in Peace Baba 70

  • This music brings out the genius of this legend of Afro-beat. His music lives in the minds of those of us who knew him. Sure o baba...

  • I came across Fela 10 years ago, when my then boyfriend was playing his album.. I was intrigued as a human, but also a Jamaican - I thought - How could anyone be unaware of Fela?? He explained the story of each song to me as they played.. I fell in love.... So many sad stories, especially this one. Losing one's mother so young and in such a way.. yet he stayed strong to the end... My baby will learn about Fela when she is a tad bit older as she is quite young.... Bless Fela..

  • That's a beautiful compliment sista. Jah bless. Fela n Bob are both Freedom fighters. Radical n Rebel to the core. Their life n style is soooo similar. Rest in peace Fela n Bob.

  • @XerXesssssss Its werid everyone knows Bob Marley as a musical Genious but say this guy's name to a random american and your likely to get blank stares. WHO??

  • @Sagefrakrobatik It's because of systematical racism and the fact that Fela spoke of truths that did not affect what is considered as the mainstream. But as more and more people suffer, they will become aware of him.... A little too late though..

  • respect to a the most courageous Nigerian ever; baba ebamieda

  • This is a man/legend with brain not one of those self style politician who are interest in what they get out from us...

  • Word up Babatundey! True True.

Hang all dem fat bellied greedy and blood-thirsty politicians and bankers and fake musicians.

  • The greatest prophet/musician ever.

  • Powerful words reflecting tyranny and corruption in leadership in Nigeria. Fela was the true unsong prophet Nigeria never had. Things he talked about in the 70s is still troubling the nation Nigeria till today.

  • True aconem , its a pity the majority of the educated middle classes especially of his generation myopically focussed on his hedonistic lifestyle blithely ignoring his message and unusual courage. Now when all the chickens have finally come home to roost., they open their mouths wide like sheep and bleat "but Fela was telling the truth then you know." Have you noticed how few Yoruba (Western Nigerian) males born in the 70's , 80's and 90's especially go by the name Fela.

  • Forgotten the blibical quote? ' A true prophet never got respect in his own village' just like Jesus.

90% of Nigerian middle class are educated fools anyway plus they got their properties gained or inherited through corruption to protect .

  • rip rip RIP FELA KUTI

  • Whaaaaaat from 6:15 til 6:30 i can feel what he saying!!!!! Iam from Haiti and know the when they catch soilder............

  • Shed tears also listening to this music then. I was really young but I understood the content or the lyrics.

  • Open your email and read while listening to this... Listen VERY CAREFULLY.

  • LEGEND

  • I can feel Fela's pain when he sings about his mum's death.

    this man is genius.

  • this song makes me cryyyyyyy

  • Baba is a prohet his words still lives on even many years after he left to meet his mother.

  • amazing song....i remember the wonderful day i interviewed him for the sunday times ref: 'fela's 27 wives'. He was a lover of human being especially the down-trodden irrespective of being born... into a very wealthy and intellectual egba family.

  • you cant really compare the two. I think of fela as a combination of james brown and bob marley in a singing aspect. But in terms of a meaning fela really pushes nigerian injustices. To bad he was never elected president.

  • The atroscity committed by the (baba iyabo) regime will always be rememeber with this song.

  • his mum must be a strong woman too since she is the first woman to drive a car in nigeria. But to throw her out from a window is just one of the injustices that makes military a bad rubbish.

  • Bob Marley is the best, but Fela is maybe in the top 5.

  • apples and oranges marley was more about love, fela was a rebel, thats only cuz nigeria is africa rough, jamaica is crazy but not on the level of nigeria. coming from that country u r going to hate the authorities

  • besides bob marley is jamaican....i will definitely chose my own...are u serious?

  • I was here... Azikiwe Ukaeje.
