Flippetskater - this footage can be found on the DVD portion of "Rich Mullins: Here in America", a CD/DVD combo.
I have this combo, but I cannot remember for certain what happens after this clip. You can buy that combo on Amazon.com, and I'm certain a lot of other places online.
I really wish this clip continued on - I was at this concert, and I can't remember the details this long out, but I know that while he was at the piano, he was taking requests, and I requested that he sing Doubly Good to You, since I knew he'd written it for Amy Grant, but I'd never heard him sing it. I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that he began talking first, and that this talk then segues into that song.
I wish I had video of that whole concert/weekend, it was so special.
Yay, Rich. This takes me back down memory lane August 2005, when I was on the train passing through Maryland. Some of the countryside was the most beautiful I'd ever seen. A year later on the West Coast, I met someone wonderful who is now buried there, and now Maryland is even more beautiful. Hope he and Rich will get together and have and awesome chat. Thank you, PeteFromMaine for the posting.
The thing that has alway's appealed to me about Rich was his openness & honesty. He spoke from the heart & he was real & so is his music. He was one of the better example's of how Jesus said what it mean's to be one of his follower's.
What a blessing i came across this today. Thank you for sharing it and introducing me to Rich Mullins, who reminded me that God chose to give me my life..........
I have never heard Rich speak before I had only heard him in his music . I am so surprized . I think I really needed this today it reminds me of the things that are just plane true . Yes he was real and still is with his real friend Jesus.
@ladyfriend5 - i love the videos that includes his words.
@PeteFromMaine - i agree about that last line... when i heard it i cried and cried and it's been like my theme sentence ever since. I am so excited to say "Thank you thank you thank you!" to Rich.
I really enjoyed Rich Mullins. I saw him at C-stone; I don't know what was going on with him but he really didn't seem too friendly. I was astonished that he waited in line to get an autograph from Savior Machine; I mean it was a long line too. But I really cannot wait until I get to see him in Heaven; after meeting Father and Jesus.
I have this DVD/CD set. It is awesome. Rich is so different from the Christian artists today. He's quiet. Their loud. He is intimate w/ his audience. Their giving us sensationalism. He can relate to all people. They have their clicks. Everything that Rich is against in the DVD/CD all artists do today. Christianity took a big hit the day he died.
no, not ALL artists. Matt Maher (who worked with Rich for a long time), Fernando Ortega, Tenth Avenue North just to name a few. What about Smitty & Amy Grant who also collaborated with him? i feel like you're generalizing.

Which DVD/CD did this come from anyway? Could someone tell me please?

Rich Mullins: Here in America.
The DVD has 14 videos and and 12 short stories. It was recorded only a few months before he died. I got mine from a Christian Book and Gift store.
Try seeing if they can order one or try online.

You are so right, and it sounds like such a cliche to say it but, he was just "real".
