lol in Wotlk when icc was released during 2 months time we made a 25 man pug and one-shoted 10/12 bosses on normal i been there 2 times since the release my role was a tank and i still do not consider myself to be a hardcore pro -raider in conclusion that means that Icc was too easy...

No, everyone haven't killed Lich King yet, but they've still accomplished to ruin all the other raids beside Icecrown. What good is raiding EoE, ToC, Ulduar, Naxx, OS when you can achieve better gear from heroics?... Blizzard simply managed to make us raid one raid over and over every week. I think that's why people are so sceptically about Cataclysm.
@ProletarPumpkin but you didnt use to be able to get better gear from heroics, it scaled, which is very good, means the people who were lvl 80 at start of wotlk have done all the raids through and through, but the ones who get there later dont have to farm hcs and raids for 6 monthes to get to the latest one

Tbh. i think they will even delay Cataclysm if they can't get that to working the way they want. im not sceptical about Cataclysm. as i've watched most of the new landcapes in the Friends and family Alpha. i would not be That sceptical for things to come.
i dont even think raids take good players. I knew so many bad players who could raid simply because its all strat. Written out and took very very little reaction. I died on wow about half way through wrath. finally hit 80 months after release did ulduar when it was the hardest thing out there and quit. grind rinse repeat isnt tht much fun anymore.
From what I have gathered about Cataclysm, they are not making the game "easier" but they are making it more generalized. By doing this, it will give every player the potential to see the "end game" raiding content. However, like he said, there still will be bad players. Along with the content you will see that yes a lot of guilds can take down the end game content. However, it is another thing to take it down on heroic. Good players can do this. Bad ones cant. End.

@seshysama knowing how to play is probably 10 % of dealing high damage / taking well / preventing ppl from dying in warcraft in my oppionion. The other 90 % is actually managing to execute what you know, which i would say from personal experience (pugging / guild raiding - Runetotem - Eu) is a quality that around 1-2/25 ppl have... (i'll do the math 4-8%)

They havent "always" handed out epics. Running BWL and ZG wasnt "handing out epics" Hell TBC didnt "hand" em out. It was def easier, but it was still a challenge. All im saying is blizz has started really bad habits with wrath. You shouldnt be able to aoe zerg a heroic. If they change it in Cat, most of the player base will fucking lost. Its gonna be shit for ppl that can play.
It's already too easy. There's no struggle. All content before ToC25 is obsolete, you'll have no use for anything that might drop before ToC25.
Doing fucking 5-man heroics (that they've nerfed even though gearlevel has increased) is SO PHUCKING BORING. I stopped playing in early december last year, I didn't even need heals while tanking 5 man HCs, me and a Frost DW DK 2-manned several HCs. I've seen Blood DK's solo HCs, 2x arcane mages doing old kingdom hc etc... Yet they keep nerfing 5-mans?

I think that the changes coming with Cataclysm are going to bring WoW back to what makes Blizzard games Blizzard games: Simple complexity. At least that's what I like to call it. I often use the example of chess. In chess you have just a few different things to learn, but the depth of the game is such that even in the centuries that it's been around, you can still see something new. That's my thought on the direction.

That said; what WOTLK did was make raiding more accessible to people who aren't completely hardcore. And hardmodes exist to keep them happy. And personally, I am very glad that they make gearing up easier - I just dinged 80 on an alt that now might actually have a chance to see anything past Naxxramas 25 before Cata gets released.
BC ruined it, Wotlk ruined it and theres no doubt in my mind that Cataclysm is going to ruin it. I'm glad I stopped playing this game when I did because all the old school players who still play this game tell me that Pre-BC was hands down the best time for this game..
skill level wise BC wasn't even that bad tbh, if I remember correctly Kara,ZA,BT,Sunwell,& tons of others weren't an easy walk in the park. WoTLK was awful you're right, any scrub can farm heroics all day and get good gear.
You're right BC was not the end of wow. BC heroic 5 mans were still a really good challenge, heroic shekketh halls was a bitch. CC was still required. You couldnt just mindlessly aoe everything like you do now. Higher end raids are still def tough, but most of the pop still doesnt get to even 25 man icc. They mostly grind mindless hours in shit heroics or low end 10 mans. Hell Kahrazan wasnt easy. Blizzard has started really bad habbits with the player base. And once you make it easy,no goingbak
When many of the older players think about difficulty in World of Warcraft over the years, they most likely thing of progression if the form of tiered dungeons. LK eliminated tiered dungeons and and put the focus on encounters and badge upgrades. The game world itself mostly suffers (skipping content, no attunement, gear level decided on gearscore instead of epics and stats) but encounters for the most part still stay interesting and difficult. Cataclysm won't really change anything.
Dont be an idiot. It partially IS in fact stat/gear/talent changes. But for me, the difficulty isnt in character changes. Its the difficulty and environment of the dungeons. Things like cutting down the number of times Svala does her sacrifice or things like that.
I'd rather do Naxx, EoE, OS, Uld, Ony, TotC and get geared the real way than do Heroic Dungeons all night and be bored out of my mind. Not to mention Heroics Dungeon are too easy. If you're going to make us only raid the latest raid, at least make the Heroic Dungeons a lot more challenging. I was able to down Halls of Reflection in a one shot the day it came out. Sure it's hard to retards but it was a joke to me.

Well, those HC instances that drop those you have to be decently geared before hand, you can't just go in them with a team full of quest greens and expect epics like you think.
Granted some may say that due to the lack of the complexities of gearing and the changing of stats make the game easier, Gearing and choosing which stat is more important isn't something we play the game for. We play the game for the fights, be it pvp or pve. None of that will change. If anything, the new stat changes is going to educate people on what they need to stop failing in raids.

Is it "too easy"? No, and it will not become so. When every mouth breather in the game has heroic Deathwing on farm, you have achieved that point. Not happening. Most guilds I have tried still get flustered at Gluth and Heigan dancing.

The game wasn't hard before WotLK, players just weren't as informed as they are now. There wasn't many, if any websites that would hold your hand through encounters, specing, your optimal rotation, etc. Those weren't around in vanilla until very late and started coming to the forefront until people started nearing the end of TBC. Then you have to look at how the game was designed, which was for people to wipe over and over on gearcheck bosses. There's nothing fun or hard about that.

I being someone who has played wow for a VERY long time, raided UBRS to give you an idea, the game then was tough.. very tough..
the game now is tailored so that any moron can pick up the mouse, get gear, and go top end raiding. when you tailor a game for morons.. they will come.. in droves.. and thus they have. drastically bringing the overall IQ of the average wow player crashing down. and so blizzard is making the game to fit that low IQ player
WoW is now a casual-friendly game, more people can play it and enjoy it, just because virgins like you where farming for weeks to get a single item dosent mean that everyone else should be a no-lifer like that. get over it.

It's much better now that a new 80 can spend a couple weeks casually farming heroics and catch up to end game. Even then though you still have to prove yourself.

Wow is to easy, someone playing for years wasn't as good as i was in 2 months, i was better geared, better guild, and a better raider, and it was so easy to find out how to do fights, they are so straight forward, there needs to be some algorithms or something that changes the encounter and the main attack of the boss each time so it chances always, or else its the Same loop each week, Raid -> Wait and do heroics, Patch Raid Heroics, got bored of this, it's like watching this video 1000 times

@19twinkmanftw No, but as an example, ToC, fighting Icehowl melee DPS and tanks get thrown back, you lose DPS while not being able to smack his face, the move speed buff would allow you to get back to the boss that much faster, allowing you to DPS sooner and therefore increase your overall DPS for the fight.

Tbh. i think they will even delay Cataclysm if they can't get that to working the way they want. im not sceptical about Cataclysm. as i've watched most of the new landcapes in the Friends and family Alpha. i would not be That sceptical for things to come.

i dont even think raids take good players. I knew so many bad players who could raid simply because its all strat. Written out and took very very little reaction. I died on wow about half way through wrath. finally hit 80 months after release did ulduar when it was the hardest thing out there and quit. grind rinse repeat isnt tht much fun anymore.

From what I have gathered about Cataclysm, they are not making the game "easier" but they are making it more generalized. By doing this, it will give every player the potential to see the "end game" raiding content. However, like he said, there still will be bad players. Along with the content you will see that yes a lot of guilds can take down the end game content. However, it is another thing to take it down on heroic. Good players can do this. Bad ones cant. End.

You know your rotation
You know how to react to raid mechanics

@seshysama knowing how to play is probably 10 % of dealing high damage / taking well / preventing ppl from dying in warcraft in my oppionion. The other 90 % is actually managing to execute what you know, which i would say from personal experience (pugging / guild raiding - Runetotem - Eu) is a quality that around 1-2/25 ppl have... (i'll do the math 4-8%)

They havent "always" handed out epics. Running BWL and ZG wasnt "handing out epics" Hell TBC didnt "hand" em out. It was def easier, but it was still a challenge. All im saying is blizz has started really bad habits with wrath. You shouldnt be able to aoe zerg a heroic. If they change it in Cat, most of the player base will fucking lost. Its gonna be shit for ppl that can play.

It's already too easy. There's no struggle. All content before ToC25 is obsolete, you'll have no use for anything that might drop before ToC25.
Doing fucking 5-man heroics (that they've nerfed even though gearlevel has increased) is SO PHUCKING BORING. I stopped playing in early december last year, I didn't even need heals while tanking 5 man HCs, me and a Frost DW DK 2-manned several HCs. I've seen Blood DK's solo HCs, 2x arcane mages doing old kingdom hc etc... Yet they keep nerfing 5-mans?

wow is an easy game to play.. but its hard to play WELL, people think gearscore is *OMG U HAVE A GS THATS OVER 9000!!!!! UR AWESOME!!!!! and they do 500 dps... good players are ones that can be lesser geared and do more damage than the other geared guy because they know their class, they know whats going on and where they need to be for stuff

I think that the changes coming with Cataclysm are going to bring WoW back to what makes Blizzard games Blizzard games: Simple complexity. At least that's what I like to call it. I often use the example of chess. In chess you have just a few different things to learn, but the depth of the game is such that even in the centuries that it's been around, you can still see something new. That's my thought on the direction.

That said; what WOTLK did was make raiding more accessible to people who aren't completely hardcore. And hardmodes exist to keep them happy. And personally, I am very glad that they make gearing up easier - I just dinged 80 on an alt that now might actually have a chance to see anything past Naxxramas 25 before Cata gets released.

skill level wise BC wasn't even that bad tbh, if I remember correctly Kara,ZA,BT,Sunwell,& tons of others weren't an easy walk in the park. WoTLK was awful you're right, any scrub can farm heroics all day and get good gear.

You're right BC was not the end of wow. BC heroic 5 mans were still a really good challenge, heroic shekketh halls was a bitch. CC was still required. You couldnt just mindlessly aoe everything like you do now. Higher end raids are still def tough, but most of the pop still doesnt get to even 25 man icc. They mostly grind mindless hours in shit heroics or low end 10 mans. Hell Kahrazan wasnt easy. Blizzard has started really bad habbits with the player base. And once you make it easy,no goingbak

When many of the older players think about difficulty in World of Warcraft over the years, they most likely thing of progression if the form of tiered dungeons. LK eliminated tiered dungeons and and put the focus on encounters and badge upgrades. The game world itself mostly suffers (skipping content, no attunement, gear level decided on gearscore instead of epics and stats) but encounters for the most part still stay interesting and difficult. Cataclysm won't really change anything.

Dont be an idiot. It partially IS in fact stat/gear/talent changes. But for me, the difficulty isnt in character changes. Its the difficulty and environment of the dungeons. Things like cutting down the number of times Svala does her sacrifice or things like that.

I'd rather do Naxx, EoE, OS, Uld, Ony, TotC and get geared the real way than do Heroic Dungeons all night and be bored out of my mind. Not to mention Heroics Dungeon are too easy. If you're going to make us only raid the latest raid, at least make the Heroic Dungeons a lot more challenging. I was able to down Halls of Reflection in a one shot the day it came out. Sure it's hard to retards but it was a joke to me.

Granted some may say that due to the lack of the complexities of gearing and the changing of stats make the game easier, Gearing and choosing which stat is more important isn't something we play the game for. We play the game for the fights, be it pvp or pve. None of that will change. If anything, the new stat changes is going to educate people on what they need to stop failing in raids.

Warcraft is an easy game. Real gamers smoke the MAJORITY of content. You do not define the difficulty of a game by it's least common denominator.
Is it "too easy"? No, and it will not become so. When every mouth breather in the game has heroic Deathwing on farm, you have achieved that point. Not happening. Most guilds I have tried still get flustered at Gluth and Heigan dancing.
Apparently many people cannot look at the entire scope of WOW and see this simple ass concept.

The game wasn't hard before WotLK, players just weren't as informed as they are now. There wasn't many, if any websites that would hold your hand through encounters, specing, your optimal rotation, etc. Those weren't around in vanilla until very late and started coming to the forefront until people started nearing the end of TBC. Then you have to look at how the game was designed, which was for people to wipe over and over on gearcheck bosses. There's nothing fun or hard about that.

soon youll just be able to log in, hit the 'LEVEL ME' button then go and visit some goblin in your start town for your 'FREE GEAR' wich will then port you directly to whatever dungeon you will want.

the game now is tailored so that any moron can pick up the mouse, get gear, and go top end raiding. when you tailor a game for morons.. they will come.. in droves.. and thus they have. drastically bringing the overall IQ of the average wow player crashing down. and so blizzard is making the game to fit that low IQ player

I bet the people who are saying "WoW was good pre-BC" are the same people who stood in SW by the AH and Bank to show off their purples that no one that had a life could get.
It's much better now that a new 80 can spend a couple weeks casually farming heroics and catch up to end game. Even then though you still have to prove yourself.
The hard core still have their hard modes why us that only have 6 hours a week to raid can at least say we experienced the end game content.

Wow is to easy, someone playing for years wasn't as good as i was in 2 months, i was better geared, better guild, and a better raider, and it was so easy to find out how to do fights, they are so straight forward, there needs to be some algorithms or something that changes the encounter and the main attack of the boss each time so it chances always, or else its the Same loop each week, Raid -> Wait and do heroics, Patch Raid Heroics, got bored of this, it's like watching this video 1000 times
