What sucks is that when a (great) poker player dies he takes his knowledge and complete understanding of the game with him...only leaving his accomplishments behind...... Its like all that expertise and wisdom is locked away in a vault forever!!!!
@myersjonathon Phil Gordon had a lot of respect for Chip, and I have a lot of respect for both of them. No, Gordon isn't a superstar like Ivey, but he involves himself in the more theoretical aspects of the game, such as books and commentary. Hes also one of the nicer people in the poker world, so you should think about giving him a little more respect, especially when hes in a video mourning one of his friends.
@G00DFELLAZ Though Gordon had a stake in the company, and was a member of team full tilt, I don't know where you got the idea that he was involved in the unfortunate activities of Bitar, Lederrer and Ferguson. Gordon was in the same boat as his fellow team full tilt members when he found out about all of the mismanagement and fraudulent behavior going on in the company he had a piece of. He was cleared of all of the accusations against him, and quite frankly, for a good reason.
Sounds good. Do you wanna play heads up my FTP name = zalco4625 =)

that was really moving.. thanks for uploading this clip. I don't even know this person but man... life is so valuable.. Very well made tribute and RIP sir!!
Chip died in his sleep in on december 4th 2007 of a pneumonia while friends specualed he died of a gastric bypass. When Patrik cried tears came down my eyes. Is been almost 3 years now, and im still sad about it...not only a great player but a true gentleman in the whole definition. RIP Chip, your legacy will not be forgotten. We love you!
I never met Chip Reese. I wish I did. I find him ver y admirable. A gambler who put his family first, left poker games when he was stuck big to go watch his son's Little League game -- that's a true gentleman. Someone we can all learn from.
@jhalas20 knew him well. you never met a more evenkeeled same-way-every-day kinda guy. never saw him in a pissy mood. he had the biggest heart. he helped anyone who asked. he had ethereal style & grace. just the very best in every way. you knew you were in the presence of greatness when you met him.
Chip Reese is my poker idol. I try to conduct myself as if I were him. Compete fiercely, never berate players, always be polite and nice to players, and never be emotional at the table. A true class act
Chip never cared for the camera's and tourny over hype. He grinded his fortune in the biggest game in the world for decades, and never needed media attention after poker got big on TV. Guys like him come around once or twice a lifetime. Respect to the king of high stakes. Class act.
For those that don't know, Chip Reese wrote the 7-card Stud section in Doyle Brunson's Super System. He's regarded by the pros as the best poker player for his all-around skills in any game. It's a shame we didn't get to see him in action as much as some of the other pros. I attribute my game in Stud to his advise and was thrilled to watch him win the inaugural HORSE championship. As a poker player, I will miss this man because he inspired me to be the best I can be in all the games. RIP.
I heard it the day he died. I think a friend of mine played a tournament that day, and he heard it and told me. He really is the legend nobody knows. I have never seen the man play, but he was certainly the one player I was waiting for to appear on High Stakes Poker or Poker After Dark.
At least he seemed to have a happy and successful life. The story of Stu Ungar broke my heart... With Chip at least you know that he made the best of it while he was with us.
i can't say much else but i am sorry we have lost not only the greatest poker mind, but a great family man as well(crying as i type) rest in peace mate
I have super online poker strategy. U play shorthanded and always and i mean ALWAYS raise 1 /3 hands.. and always systematic..when opponent learns that they wont raise u when they know u are going to raise..then u can know he is weak :)

r.i.p chip reese - greatest stud player ever, everyone should read his section in super system. the saddest thing is that he didn't recieve the publicity that a player of that stature deserved, and he surely going to prove to everyone that he was the best - but tragically not given the chance.
He kinda looks like John Malkovich

@mace9697 you're a disgrace for mentioning Phil Gordon in the same sentence as the legendary Chip Reese.
Are you even aware that Gordon robbed 20 millions in players fund in the Full Tilt scandal?
Phil Gordon couldn't beat the game in the years 2000's so he became a crook, same for Howard and Jesus.
Chip was the best ever.
