Get over with u r only fault why u lose u had 9 point plus then we do, and u ruined your chanse to win in 3 minuts to finis and stop making exuse about your lost, cuple of unnecessarily shoots bad pace and we won, insead of playing smart to keep the ball every 24 sec they made some important mistake and thats whz u lost and not because of the judge.
Picilkas was at our side. But, they whistle against us, lots of times in the past, and they decided to give it back. Why against Argentina? Argentina was the only one politically weaker than Yugoslavia, among best teams. Remember the inflation and chaos. Also, later Argentinian stars were young at that time, while Bodiroga, Stojakovic, and especially Divac were respected worldwide. Bodiroga even more than Divac, because of the Euroleague MVP titles, and the referee is Greek.

Iskreno, bio je faul, bar jedan. Ne volim Divca ni malo. Ok, jedini je nesto uradio u NBA. Ali vise od jedne generacije Srba zbog njega ima problema sa srcem. Sjebo je protiv sovjetskog saveza (ej centar nosi loptu preko pola, ???). Ne moze slobodno da pogodi protiv Argentine u finalu, a imao je 4 za pobedu. You're right, the only serbian game I saw last year was in the Diamond Ball. But you don't do your homework neither, since 2008 was the most productive year in Argentina's basketball: south-american U15 winners, panamerican U18 winners, south american champions, Diamond Ball champions and olympics bronze medal. So the youth teams are doing pretty well, so far.
Well, we took 2nd place in Poland :-D And Slovenia is not basketball country, this generation is their best in history. But Serbia always was and will be! Even the referee finally admitted last year that he thought it was a foul on the last argentinian attack but didn't call it because he didn't want to make such a crucial decision at the last second. Argentina was the real winner of the 2002 World cup and they had their reward by winning Gold at the Olympics 2 years after.
The real winner is Serbia if you want or not. Argentina was leading +8 at the end of the game, enough to win for real champions, except if you don't have balls in the money time. You can't blame the referee if argentinians players were afraid in the money time.
This same Yugoslavian team was also up by 5 points less than 40 seconds from the end of the first game of the 2004 Olympic Games 2 years after and still Argentina won it at the buzzer thanks to Ginobili's acrobatic final shot. Were you expecting that? And then Argentina went on to win the Gold Medal. It has nothing to do with that "true champions" bullshit because teams that reach the final are always mentally very strong. A detail (like a ref's bad call) can make the difference.

The real difference is that Ginobili's final shot went in and in Indianapolis the final shot didn't go in because there was a foul on Sconochini and the ref chose to look away. Yugoslavia was a world power in basketball then and we were nobodies, that's why. But Argentina's status has changed since then. As for 2006, Nocioni's final 3-pointer could have given us the world title but the loss against Spain was easier to take than this one because it was fair. We weren't cheated like in 2002.

It's easy to dismiss a referee's mistake when you benefit from it. As for the "end" of our golden age, nobody knows. I'm from Argentina and I think Yugoslavia is the best basketball team ever (won 5 FIBA and 1 Olympic gold).
But in this game the referees weren't fair and Argentina should win despite Yugoslavia having played very well anyway.

What a steal. I'm glad Stankovic is no longer in FIBA. After he left Serbia is back where it belongs: a mediocre basketball team.
BTW, Argentina was by far the best team in that tournament.

What a steal?!?!? Then, my friend, you know shit about basketball. If your players haven't flopped for whole tournament you might get foul at the end of regular time. The players we had back then were ok, surely not top class but better then Argentina squad.

I don't know why all serbians know to do is saying "you know shit about basketball" to everyone that points out the FACT that after Stankovic left, Serbia can't even qualify for the big tournaments. You should learn from Slovenia, a REAL basketball country, who never gets help from officiating and still is top class, despite being a really small country.

"help from officials" Man... I suppose you haven't saw even one game Serbia play after this match occurred and/or you don't know what is going on in Serbian basketball. Anyway, we have good youth players now and they play regularly in finals of euro/world competition which your NT cant say. About Slovenia, in next eurobasket(this year in Poland) they are playing in group stages against so we will see. Furthermore its funny that you mention Slovenia because 1/2 their players are naturalized

You're right, the only serbian game I saw last year was in the Diamond Ball. But you don't do your homework neither, since 2008 was the most productive year in Argentina's basketball: south-american U15 winners, panamerican U18 winners, south american champions, Diamond Ball champions and olympics bronze medal. So the youth teams are doing pretty well, so far.
Anyway, good luck in the eurobasket.

Well, we took 2nd place in Poland :-D And Slovenia is not basketball country, this generation is their best in history. But Serbia always was and will be! Most european NBA players are from Serbia and best euro players! Kikanovic, Korac, Divac, Stojakovic, Bodiroga, Danilovic, Djordjevic......................

they played shit but referee asshole made a mistake but in further contest they were got owned by us,serbian people is so arrogant but the worst is that all of them are shit..,the serbians girls got owned just invitaded them drinks that cost geneally 1 euro and u will get a cheap pussy

We won gold at the 2004 Olympics so I'm fine with that too. But talking about "weakness" is nonsense, games like these are always tight and Argentina only lost it because of external circumstances. It's like saying Yugoslavia was weak cause we beat you at the Olympics 2004, even though it was credit of a brilliant individual play by Ginobili. Rules are there to be followed, if the ref would have done his job properly we would have won with our last 2 FT and that would have been the end of it.

That game was a robbery. Even the referee finally admitted last year that he thought it was a foul on the last argentinian attack but didn't call it because he didn't want to make such a crucial decision at the last second. Argentina was the real winner of the 2002 World cup and they had their reward by winning Gold at the Olympics 2 years after.

The real winner is Serbia if you want or not. Argentina was leading +8 at the end of the game, enough to win for real champions, except if you don't have balls in the money time. You can't blame the referee if argentinians players were afraid in the money time.

This same Yugoslavian team was also up by 5 points less than 40 seconds from the end of the first game of the 2004 Olympic Games 2 years after and still Argentina won it at the buzzer thanks to Ginobili's acrobatic final shot. Were you expecting that? And then Argentina went on to win the Gold Medal. It has nothing to do with that "true champions" bullshit because teams that reach the final are always mentally very strong. A detail (like a ref's bad call) can make the difference.

yeah, funny thing Yugoslavia (SCG) was down by as many as 16, and fought back. THAT was heart of a champion, the fact that Ginobili hit the shot and the guy in this game missed it is ALL the difference and your only calling it BS because you know argentina could have had an untouchable run 2002-2004-2006 but they diddnt and couldnt so sorry about that

The real difference is that Ginobili's final shot went in and in Indianapolis the final shot didn't go in because there was a foul on Sconochini and the ref chose to look away. Yugoslavia was a world power in basketball then and we were nobodies, that's why. But Argentina's status has changed since then. As for 2006, Nocioni's final 3-pointer could have given us the world title but the loss against Spain was easier to take than this one because it was fair. We weren't cheated like in 2002.

You make me laugh, I wonder what you would have said if what happened to Argentina in 2002 would have happened to Yugoslavia instead. It's easy to dismiss a referee's mistake when you benefit from it. As for the "end" of our golden age, nobody knows. No one 5 years ago could predict that Argentina could become the major power of world basketball, so the same thing can happen tomorrow again. And Ginobili is skiping the preolympics but he has committed to play the next olympics and world cup.

And by the way, in Argentina very few people play basketball. So to see the national side succeed in this sport and beat the Dream Team twice in a row was a giant surprise. It's normal for Yugoslavia to do well because basket for you is like football for us. So to understand the magnitude of the performance achieved by this golden generation is like imagining the Serbian football team reaching the final of the football world cup 3 times in a row and winning one. Very unlikely.
