  • Why did Bill Owen have to die why could it have not been some other actor anyone but Bill he is the king of Sit-Coms in the UK

  • Tom Owen was a fucking awful "actor". They should have ended this unfunny series when his father croaked.

  • I cant believe it... all those jokes about Toms father... the way they look... I never came up that he was Compos son. I fell such a bad fan of LOTSW

  • I glad they decided not to replace Compo with Tom. Tom is a good character but I don't think he has the screen presence that Bill Owen had.

  • I thought it was brave of Tom Owen to ask if his real life father left enough for a new exhaust. I suppose Tom saw the funny side by this time and got over his father's death.

  • Some people reckoned that the series went down hill after Tom arrived. I don't think that was true. Tom was a good actor. He wasn't as good as his father but he was still funny.

  • The series lost its steam once Bill Owen/Compo died. Tom had nothing to do with the decline.

Tom is a good actor. He just not as good at improv like Bill was.

  • @IrishKyokushin I think that it was too soon to bring in Compo's son. Just a pity that the series has ended now

  • @bradleymanor I agree. It wasn't the same without Compo, but the show was still amazing and hilarious, once Tom and Billy came and got settled in, and when they introduced more characters like Alvin, Roz, and Entwistle. God bless Roy Clarke for his brilliance in creating new characters that we could all love and who could carry the series on in Compo's stead.
