  • 2:55 is very 'Music Man'-esque; I wonder they are trying to say, haha. *cough*con-man*cough* ehem.

  • "That makes perfect sense"... can never be said of any religion!

  • best trumpet EVER!

  • "De fuck is a stake knife?!" -The Africans after this song.

  • @gargentimma it makes fun of all organized religion

  • You can hear a bit of "The Musicman" in this song. They spoofed a few musicals.

  • this play doesnt make fun of mormonism at all, i guarentee that anyone who thinks mormonism is stupid and doesnt make sense will completely understand it and why people followed joseph smith by the end of the show, even mormons love this play

  • I dont usually condone I dont usually condone making fun of religion but this is just sheer genius/brilliance

  • @Cadenzal Sorry to here that

  • @Jupitarius but no (blowjob) subtext. :(

  • this song is so awesome

  • @Gearroke Actually, you found the fifth part. You forgot the book of Arnold!

  • XD sounds like a parody of music man pool table song hahhaahah :)

  • I HAVE MAGGOTS IN MY SCROOOOTUUMM!

  • wonder why they keep saying that only joseph saw the plates when infact we have the testiment of three others that saw at the very front of the book of morman and 12 others that also saw them still like the music thou i can't stop laughing when every i hear these songs

  • I live with Mormons, and the truth is, is that this is what they honestly believe. This is just joking a bit with the American Part, But they truely believe this.

  • anyone else think that some parts of this sound like "Trouble" from The Music Man?

  • @caesarhathwept :) ur my kinda person hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • @ChristinaShea98 The problem is that the guy with maggots in his scrotum IS the doctor.

  • I love that chord at 0:12

It is a true sign of talent to be able to tell jokes through musical notes.

  • rory is mah all american angel <333

  • @Gearroke stfu what u say is not even funny.and u willl go to hell for saying this lies.we all know the 4th part is hided under my underwear... ooops D:

  • I have maggots in my scrotuum.

  • @3908silverstein Um... okay.

  • @3908silverstein Um.... Okay!

  • A nice mini history lesson of Mormons :D

  • @Gearroke haha

  • Now this is a funky prophet I can get behind!

  • "The book of Mormon is Return of the Jedi" LMAO had me DEAD

  • @cenationofvipers They originally had an entire songs called "The bible, Part Three," and it was all about trilogy jokes, basically starting with Star Wars, Indiana Jones and LOTR then ending with crappy ones like Mighty Ducks, Rush Hour, and instead of "Maggots in my scrotuuum," it was "I actually thought the third Matrix movie was the wooorst ooone!"

There used to be a version on Youtube, but it was taken down.

  • I'm an exmormon and omg, this is fucken hilarious!

  • 8 people didn't order in time to get the steak knives.

  • mormans are so stupid. they don't even get they are being fucking torn apart in this entire musical...Matt and Trey were like, what medium can reach the most mormons so we can mock their religion without them realizing it....that's it a musical!

  • actually we mormons believe the bible is corrupt and pretty much crap. especially the OT. we don't think the book of mormon is #3 of 3 books, be believe there's LOTS of other books, some hidden, some not, and the bible, as it exists, is kind of a distant #4,329,993

read the book of mormon and you'll see --- the bible is just kind of stupid. more laughs per page of the bible than a joke book!

  • @rtardbox you may actually be retarded

  • Next time Mormons come to my door, I am singing this to them on the spot, and following them around the neighborhood till I finish the song!

  • 5:04 fav part

  • I hung out with a bunch of mormons when I was in New Mexico. They were cool folk, nothing against them, but when they started preaching, I started laughing :)

  • As an ex mormon I find this play 2 hours of delicious therapy! Pure Genius, and yes Mormon's really do believe what the play talks about. Matt and Trey really did their homework!

  • @lisadavisshields71 wrong. mormons believe the bible is corrupt. there's all sorts of untrue innuendo and just plain libel. i think you were what we lds call "an ignorant as hell mormon" when you were still lds. but on the positive side of things, we're glad to have you gone!

  • haha, I feel like this is spoofing You've Got Trouble from The Music Man.

  • @TheAbortedDinosaur quite possibly. many of these songs are parodies of sort. "You and Me (But Mostly Me)" is blantantly a Wicked parody and "Man Up" is reference to Rock of Ages.

  • I HAVE TO WAIT A WHOLE YEAR TO SEE THIS IN DENVER?? WHY???

  • @maiwork6666666 oh man, you have no idea, I live in Melbourne, I'm probably going to have to wait 10.

  • um

  • Not really seeing how this song in particular is making fun of the Mormon faith.

  • XD I love this so much. <3 Me and my girlfriend are hopping to go see this when/if we go to the New York Comiccon. 8D

  • I am a mormon.... I find this mildly scarey. o.o

  • or only 1 if your a jew

  • Its not even really making fun of the religion. I think its funny how they put it so bluntly.

  • This musical is hilarous. I wish people would stop being like " Well personally i don't think its funny to make fun of religions". I mean its so funny! Lighten up.

  • IIIIIIIIiiIiiiiiiiiiiiiiii haaaave maggots in my scroooooooooooduummmm

  • "why are you having me die, without having me show people the plates"...umm, inside the introduction of the Book of Mormon there is the testimony of 11 witnesses who saw the plates before Joseph Smith even organized the Church... just a little detail that was ignored

  • Pfft, the creators just felt bad that no Mormon has thought to make a Mormon equivalent of Jesus Christ Superstar, so they decided to help the LDS community out.

  • @Jupitarius i dont get it :(

  • @Jupitarius Wait, what? No he doesn't

  • @Jupitarius funny enough my conversion story involves a set of steak knife sales men my wife went to chase off, and a book of mormon thrown at me.

  • @Jupitarius ==> Mormon

  • "This is sooorrttt of what God is going for.."

  • Why don't they ever mention the "third book" from Islam?

  • @Wraftl Mormans don't accept the Qu'ran as holy scriptures, and have their third part independently. So technically Elder Cunningham's metaphor with the Star Wars trilogy isn't paticularly accurate. A better metaphor would be the Terminator movies, with Terminator I as the Old Testament, Terminator II as the New Testament, and Terminator III and IV as the Book of Mormon and the Joseph Smith story, and the Qu'ran as the Sarah Connors Chronicles. But Cunningham isn't the most informed of people.

  • "I'm gonna take you back to biblical times, 1823."

  • I want to act in this play...

  • @ItsTheSecretAsian me too! id do it a heartbeat!

  • interestingly enough, despite all the mocking and ridiculing attitude towards it, it is pretty accurate to the real story

  • @Jupitarius hehehe, that's actually really clever. And i feel less stupid now. Thanks. :-)

  • @Jupitarius wait, I don't see it. What'd they do? :)

    (god, now I feel stupid)

  • @Suunnybear Oh..... ok?!?!?

  • Just posted this to the wall of my Mormon friend. I think he'll love it TBH

  • I love this musical so much, it celebrates religion as much as it satirises it perfectly :)

  • meh I always liked empire better

  • AND THE BOOK OF MORMON IS RETURN OF THE JEDI?!

Wait, then what's the phantom menace?!

  • @lordxeras scientology.

  • @lordxeras Seventh Day Adventists.

  • I love the contrast between this song and 'Joseph Smith, American Moses'

  • It seems as though this musical is to Mormons what Nunsense is to Catholics.

  • am i totally off-base or stating the obvious when i say that joseph smith seems to be channeling his inner Harold Hill in this song?

  • @DannyApathos Direct ancestors?

  • I love this song & I'm Mormon. In fact I'm as Mormon as they come, I went to BYU and settled nearby as a family therapist. I am flying out from Provo, Utah to see the Broadway in Aug.

  • @icetool69 ==> mormon convert it took 2 "steak knife sales men" and a book of mormo through at my head.

  • @Suunnybear Um... okay.

  • If Mormons actually went door to door SINGING about their faith and taught in song, I'd probably be more inclined to listen... x'D (no offense.)

  • 7 people didn't get their steak knives

  • as a fan of God as a person, religion does seem a bit.. odd.

  • i have to sing with song for my Theater program this summer

  • Blonde Hair Blue Eyed voice of God? Aryan allusion?

  • Six people have maggots in their scrotum.

  • "And the Book of Mormon is Return of the Jedi?? I'm interested!!"

  • well i guess 6 mormons saw this

  • @RaversCandy I'm Mormon and I love this song. You can't assume that all Mormons will hate this musical. I love this musical, and laugh until I can't breathe when I listen to this soundtrack.

  • Parts of this reminds me of You Got Trouble from The Music Man haha this is a freaking instant classic

  • Lulz. I'm a Mormon who served a full-time mission in Brazil, and I gotta say, this is kind of funny.

  • Do people really think christianity or islam is any less ridiculous? I mean, sure the mormon stories are a joke... but I don't think anyone who believes in the story of noah and the ark, the parting of the red sea, or any other of a hundred crazy bible stories is in a place to cast judgment on the mormons. At least they take this show with good humor, as opposed to some crybaby christians who got their panties all bundled up over "Life of Brian."

  • @WOGASTorWOGA Shut up atheist!

  • @WOGASTorWOGA What about 666? Do you believe in that?

  • @WOGASTorWOGA ok maybe you dont belive in them that doesnt make them ridiculos what do u belive BTW i love this musical

  • @CandyApple410 So apparently people didn't understand my comment. The point I was trying to make is that its silly for people to hold a double standard where mormon beliefs are fair game but their own are not, because we all believe things that seem crazy to outsiders. So kudos to Matt and Trey for this awesome show and kudos to the LDS for taking it in good humor. Boo to people who are sullying this by using it as an excuse to insult mormons.

  • @WOGASTorWOGA Ok I am truley sorry i mis-read you're statment i totally agree with you :)

  • @WOGASTorWOGA Your right! I'm Catholic and I personally love "Life of Brian"! People need to learn to laugh a bit. However, sometimes the jokes can get a little out of hand, but 95% of the time I think they are completely fine!

  • Six people don't like Joseph Smith's Donny Osmond flair...

  • Most of my friends are Mormon and they enjoy this.... I go to the regular old Baptist Christian Church, and i find this FUNNY AS HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this shit amazing!

  • Im a Mormon and I love this musical. It actually strengthened my faith. The guys who made this seem to have an odd kind of respect for the LDS community and this wasnt ment to be offensive, it was ment to make people laugh so most of us dont take it harshly.

  • @SnazzMaster842 Thank you so damn much. I love that you can see the humor in this, and don't take it offensively. I really appreciate that in a world where everything is offensive to everyone.

  • @SnazzMaster842 Oh you have no idea about the respect Parker and Stone (Stone being an atheist) has on Mormons compared to other religions, lol.

  • @SnazzMaster842 actually, it was made to be offensive.

  • @ramsidepp I really don't think it was. Watch a few interviews of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, they have said so.

  • @SnazzMaster842 You do realize they are making fun of Mormon credulity, right?

  • @nightofhero Yes, I do.

  • @SnazzMaster842 u do realise joseph smith lied. jus sayin.

  • @evilpiggehz That's your opinion.

  • @SnazzMaster842 were the golden plates ever found? I dont actually know enough about mormonism to know.

  • @evilpiggehz Then maybe you should do your homework before you criticize other people's beliefs..

  • @aeault379 he wasn't criticizing you...

  • @SnazzMaster842 How is that an opinion, not trying to start anything, but a lie is a lie...

  • @SnazzMaster842 I totally agree with this; it's not senseless profanity. Most of it has meaning. I am alsoof the LDS community and I love the music! I really wish I could have seen this in New York; I was there when it came out!

    D:

  • i found some weird rocks in my backyard, maybe there is a fourth book hmmm?

  • I love how if you insult the muslims, it's wrong. I guess that the LDS people are a lot more relaxed.

  • @WormYourHonor64 That's because you don't have to worry about radical LDS' bombing you.

  • @chickabee222 So true, but if the muslims wouldn't fight to make their religion the only one on Earth, they could just relax and enjoy it when, say, South Park depicts Muhammad.

  • People should stop mocking the (actual) Book of Mormon. It's not like the Bible is any less questionable.

  • @austinthebookworm5 Actually it is. The Book of Mormon speaks of things more recent that are much easier to disprove.

  • @GinnyStoleMyMan

The Bible is still incredibly easy to disprove.

  • @austinthebookworm5 I'm not saying it isn't.

  • The Book of Mormon is a book of holy scripture that does not deserve to get mocked just as the Holy Bible does not deserve to be ridiculed. If you are educated of the LDS religion you know this is a complete contradiction to the teachings and truths od the Gospel of Jesus Christ found within the Book of Mormon.

  • @mikemare117 lol the guy wrote the book and said god was telling him stuff to write down

  • I knew Return of the Jedi was holy and they called me crazy

  • Yeah were cool becouse were not the ones going to burn in hell....

  • Music-wise, this sounds like it could fit into Seussical. I don't think this one is as on-purpose as the others (Defying Gravity, You Can't Stop the Beat, Hakuna Matata, etc.) but it's still pretty awesome.

Plus, the song is just overall kickass. Because it's, you know, Book of Mormon.

  • Each plate was about 40-140 lbs.

Yep, Smith just dug 'em right out of the ground. Carried them home. /snicker

  • I LOVE THIS!!! I'm Mormon and this musical makes me soo proud to be a Mormon!

  • I googled this, and all this information is actually acurate....

I could see this being performed in like a Sunday School in a Mormon church.

  • this makes as much sense as god sending his son to die for our sins

  • 5 people have maggots in their scrotum.

  • joseph smith kinda sounds like kermit the frog here

  • wow this makes more since roflmbfasao!

  • I wonder what the folks at Forbbiden Broadway will do with this.

  • my best friends mormon. this is her favorite show.

  • I love how mormons can be so chill about this. If it was making fun of Catholics people would go nuts. And trust me it would make a GREAT musical. lol

  • @MrJohneybgood Do you remember "Every sperm is sacred" from Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life"??

  • @MrJohneybgood have you seen "Nunsense?"

  • @marielle019 nope. whats that?

  • Comment removed

  • STEAK KNIVES!!

  • @RollOnToVictory im not trying to start an argument but not every muslim is a terrorist. its like saying all americans are haters of different religions such as yourself. find some respect

  • @moonwalkgrlz114 He never called them all terrorists, or even implied it. Don't be an idiot.

  • "I'M interested..." hahahahaha

  • This sounds a bit like "The Music Man" in parts. haha

  • @marielle019 I was thinking the same thing. The more I listen to recordings of this musical, the more I start to think that its sort of a super-parody or series of pastiches of Broadway.

  • @meshumekha 1:05-1:15, especially. Other songs sound like Joseph, but at least they acknowledged it, mentioning something about Donny Osmond...ha.

  • @meshumekha Ya the writers said that they are big fans of musicals, and they did a lot of "broadway research" while writing the show.

  • So the New Testament is The Empire Strikes Back?

  • Wow! God said go to your back yard and start digging? THAT MAKES PERFECT SENSE!

  • @Swabby88 I think they meant to say Catholics.
