I'm hearing mostly negative stuff about season 6. Was it really that crap? I've bought season 5, 7 and 8 - do I spend that little bit more for season 6 or not??
@43LightYears Yeah, they are my two least favourite. Partly because I think 24 doesn't feel the same without Tony. And partly because they both spend the last third of the season showing Jack on a personal vendetta when the terrorist threat is long over.
I hate to advertise but it is relevant to this video. Youtube has no promos to season 6 just the trailers. I have decided to upload season 6 episodes promos so you people can walk down memory lane a bit. Check it out if you can if you are a fan of promos :)
Am I the only one who actually LOVED season 6????? I mean, I know it's far from perfect but still was an overall very intense season. I liked the doomsday scenenario we had with Abu Fayed. I liked the international conflict between USA and Russia cause Cheng's last stand, Hell, I even liked the fact that Jack's brother and father were villians and involved in the conspiracy of Charles Logan and Alan Wilson. I think that Season 6 es WAAAAYYYYYYY Underated
I think its funny that the idealized american male image is portrayed by a canadian. Also its funny that 24 is the only terrorist presence in america scince 9 11.
Right im going to have to stop reading comments al ltogether. I thought the comments for this would be about season 6, but no they've got season 7 spoilers in. Fuck...
Another thing is that it really feels like Voight's character is some cheesy Bond villain ripoff. You know? With the secret compounds hiding in plain sight, the crazy eyes, slicked-back hair, the int'l business ventures, and the red rockets. 24 was always grittier and (dare I say) more realistic than that. Now it feels like they've taken a flight of pure fantasy b/c they've run out of ideas. Supposedly Day 8 will be their last before going to feature films. Let's hope they conjure a great end.
I thought the white house seizure was brilliant!! 24 has always been about pushing the boundaries and being realistic so the audience would believe it. Season 1 in 2001, the first black presidential candidate, 7 years later the real thing!!! Charles Logan was definately based on Richard Nixon and when Jack had him face justice, was the way it should have been! Season 5 has been hailed the most critically acclaimed season of the series! I think season 7 isnt bad at all, just as good as season 3.
You just hit the nail on the head when you said "I think season 7 isnt bad at all, just as good as season 3." Day 3 was one the WORST seasons of the show (followed by Day 6). You are absolutely right, though. Day 7, like 3 is a convoluted plot w/ beyond unrealistic plot twists, a dubious threat, an incredibly boring & predictable plot, and too many villains that are only loosely connected & who are relatively dull. The only good thing about Day 3 was the comedic relief the Salazar bros offered!
Just when I thought this season was getting back on track after the idiotic WH Siege, we now have this quixotic and contrived standoff at Starkwood! C'mon, like a joint-FBI SWAT/Navy SEAL team executing a Federal search warrant for WMDs no less, would just send in a handful of guys and forget to cordon off the facility and have backup standing by! The Feds would have started shooting at those soldier-of-fortune jackasses just to prove they're in charge & the SEALs are NEVER taken alive!
I'm surprised they didn't just start dropping bombs on the whole facility and then proclaimed it to be an "accidental drop of ordinance" or something like that. I love Jon Voight as an actor, but I still cannot get past how horribly one-dimensional he is in 24...primarily because I cannot grasp what he hopes to possibly achieve by holding the US (who appears to be his primary client) ransom w/ WMDs. In the long run, holding your prime client hostage isn't the best way of generating revenue.
I was so jazzed that they brought back (at least I thought) Secret Service Special Agent Frank Simes from Day One (watch the power plant episode when they arrest Jack) only to find out it was the same actor but the writers renamed him to Agent Jovis! And what about the ridiculous display of Secret Service retreating w/o getting proof Juma had the Pres? Plus, according to both the Constitution & Nat'l Def Act of '47 she stopped being pres the moment she was compromised.I love 24 but that was bad.
You know what's sad? Day Six had the makings of being the best season yet, but the writers (for whatever reason) didn't follow through. I loved the concept of bringing in Jack's family as a set of villains. But not as the season's main villains. Grudenko and Fayed were great...until the writers prematurely killed them midway through the season and substituted them for the ridiculously convoluted Chinese plot.
I love season 7, I know it does repeat things xD But it'll get better, Plus there is only so much they can do! xD Tony and Jack back together is awesomeness though =DD
It WAS rocking until that ridiculous storyline involving Juma invading the White House. WTF? So apparently there are only 4 Secret Service agents (plus Bill, Jack, and Aaron) guarding the West Wing and the other Secret Service agents are all in the break room?? Why didn't they get the Pres to that bunker that Logan and Wayne Palmer hid out in under the WH when they were in charge? Instead they shoved her in that pathetic closet. The day's gone down hill from there. Rene Walker sucks too.
Um there was about 20-25 minutes where we didn't see what Juma and his men were doing. You can bet they killed a ton of agents they weren't just strolling through the halls. They couldn't get the president to the bunker because it was not in that area and they didn't want to take the chance of running into Jumas men. Pay attention.
Have you ever been to the White House? I have -- twice: once when I was a kid with my family and once when I was working with GOP during the election. There are clusters of Secret Service agents in those halls. You can't go unnoticed for two minutes let along 25! Plus, there's an entire uniformed White House Police Force outside of the men in suits. It could have been great if they actually made it a believable siege. The local bank down the street has better security than the WH did in that ep!
I'm not saying it was completely believable. I'm just saying in the time we didn't see Juma during the commercial break and other scenes, he most likely took out lots of agents.
That's just a severe leap of faith. Anyway, though, this past episode redeemed the season. It was excellent and took 24 back to its beautiful roots. That WH siege was just really lame IMO. And Tony Almeida continues to be the butt of my jokes. As Jack Bauer races to the save planet, the President manages international strife, and Chloe sits under arrest Tony decides to go to a lovely Italian Cafe in the Georgetown District of DC and get dinner. What a pansy. No wonder Michelle left him for Bill.
This last episode was excellent. Bill's death was wonderful (let's face it, that was the only way he could truly escape Karen's clutches) and was the highlight of the WH Siege. But the WH Siege -- while a wonderful concept -- was horribly executed. Another issue I had was over who claimed jurisdiction. The WH is Secret Service jurisdiction and yet for some reason the FBI claimed authority. That would never be allowed. Plus, they were relying on the VP for tactical decisions? WTF? Unrealistic.
I don't think the WH siege was nearly as bad as everyone said it was. And as far as FBI taking jurisdiction, that's no big deal considering all the SS were most likely dead anyways haha. And I don't think relying on the VP is unrealistic. When it comes to the president's life it's no longer a field call.
It was totally unrealistic for the VP to be making that kind of decision. He'd be kept apprised of what was happening,of course, but under the 25th Amendment he's now the President and her life is inconsequential. If that isn't enacted, then the Nat'l Sec Act of '47 is & SecDef is in charge.Terrorists took control of the WH --a symbol of our freedom-- and they were defacing it & using her & everyone there to degrade the US Foreign Policy position on Sangala. The siege would've been over in minutes.
24 Day 3 was bad not because of a weaponized virus (they actually exist, i.e. Small Pox), it was the horrid plot they gave Palmer & the ridiculous number of villains who were very loosely connected. Aside from the timing, Day Four was excellent. It had a cogent villain and a coherent storyline with well-rounded characters.Day One - Mandy jumped out AFTER the plane exploded, she timed it. She's a Terrorist, that's what they do.
In the grand scheme of things, the White House Siege was one of the worst possible stories & even my normal suspension of disbelief could not account for all the errors there.
Sorry but the fourth season of 24 was the best. This was good until the suitcase nuke exploded and then it fizzled out. The 7th season doesnt look any better. Face it folks, 24 has jumped the shark!
With great power is the music during the 'previously on 24' part of the video and during the big action part (Raid of Fayeds apartment and Milo driving for his live) was 'ready steady go'. But I don't know what the other stuff was. The font was too small to see...
Season six was awesome, season seven looks really good too. The writers are getting so much better at making the plots, it used to just be 'There is a bomb, we need to get the bomb, we got the bomb' But now it has so many more plot twists and turns and everything. Can't wait for season seven.
By the way, Im not saying I didn't like the earlier seasons, Im just saying the later ones are better.
