Check out the video posted by "radi0chik" of this same broadcast. It contains a bit more of the footage and is in HD. (Still, thanks to "crabwalkjb" for posting this!)
I remember watching this as the extreme cold progressively numbed out the reporter's face. Toward the end of her live report, her paralyzed lips couldn't pronounce any Bs, Ms or Ps (and, perhaps some other consonants). Chip and Tracy (the best anchors I've seen over 30 yrs) completely lost it. They couldn't recover. I recall the station had to cut to a commercial early. I laughed so hard my stomach muscles were sore the next morning. I've been wanting to see this again for years! THANKS!
1310 the ticket played the audio and I had to view this on YouTube! Poor Valerie! Then they ask another question! Ppppppooooorrrr lllllaaadddyyyyyy bbbbbaaaaccckkk tttoooo yyyyyouu!
I was laughing like crazy just seeing this. It was kind of a blur to me at first until first saw it during a retrospect for Chip Moody after having died from Hodgkin's Disease in 2001. I miss seeing him deliver news to all of North Texas. We miss you, Chip, we wish you were here.
My wife and I literally fell out of chairs watching this segment- and I wish the someone could post the rest of the exhange- including Chip and Tracy's apology when they cracked up again. One of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV.
I too remember watching this, it was absolutely hysterical. Me and my dad were laughing right along with Tracy and Chip - poor Valerie was sooo cold. And swalker2000 is right, they cut away to Chip because Tracy couldn't keep it together, and as Tracy kept laughing, Chip tried to continue the next story but couldn't stop laughing and it became uncontrollable... one of my very favorite memories of Channel 8. Tear running funny!
Thanks for posting this! Ever since learning about YouTube, I have checked periodically to find this clip and relive that memorably hilarious evening from when we lived in Plano years ago.
I remember watching this live as well. omg I was crying from laughing so much. Too bad the video cuts early, Tracy and Chip's reactions were priceless.
What you don't see in this clip is the best part. Tracy and Chip were two of the most straight-laced major-market news anchors you could ever hope to see.
As this clip ends, you see Tracy start to crack up. What you don't see is that the director cuts to Chip because Tracy is losing it. Well, Chip loses it too. They almost literally fall out of their respective chairs.
Cut to commercials--when they come back they apologize, saying something like "but it was so funny."

It stops too soon. I remember Tracy and Chip hardly being able to continue the newscast, they were trying to keep from laughing

I do remember the winter of 1992 in DFW, but I didn't see this newscast, and really appreciate the trip back in time! Thankx.

wow she sounds drunk, but i know that it was the fact that her lips are numb and her mouth is frozen and she's not drunk.

Believe it or not, they played this clip in KTVT's farewell to Tracy a couple weeks ago.
